Driffield Championship Dog Show

Breed: Chihuahua (Long Coat)

DRIFFIELD GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW – Friday, 28.08.26

CHIHUAHUA (LONGCOATS)

Thank you to the hard-working Committee for inviting me to judge the Longcoat Chihuahuas at their Golden Anniversary Show and to my stewards, Lyn Ison & Liz Whitmore. For some reason I was slower than usual and for this I apologise. I was very happy with my entry of 65 exhibits of which 60 were present. Similarly to the Smoothcoats I judged in February, mouths, in the main, were good and I found none that were wry. I had some quality dogs to go over and, in some classes, had to “nit-pick” as all could change places. Thank you to the exhibitors for their entries.

SBD (0)

VD (1) 1. Skinner’s Tyssul Awel Y Mynydd Shcex Vw. Cream boy of 7 years, nice apple dome head with pleasing expression, well placed tail held correctly, decent movement fore and aft.

MPD (2) 1. Wood’s Starceylon Dionysus for Leverethill. Black boy of 7 months with good head shape, well bodied with good turn of stifle, a little bum high at the moment but he is only a baby. 2. Czyz’s Hemingway Special Right Royal (ATC,NAF). Not easy to assess this cream sable of 8 months as he was rather frightened. He is a nice shape with a pleasing head and expression when holding his ears up! Hopefully, he will gain in confidence.

PD (5) 1. Hollister’s Hollichi Designer Dreams. Cream & White boy of 10 months who walked proudly around the ring with a level topline and good tail set held correctly. Lovely apple domed head with large dark eyes and good pigment. Nice straight front and good turn of stifle. Pleased to award BPD and later the RCC. 2. Heap & Palmer’s Maciendas Akeru God. Another nice cream and white of 10 months. Good head shape, dark eyes and good pigment, level topline leading to correct tail placement. Moved out well. Not quite self-assured yet. 3. Will’s Paulwilchi Polly Reginaldo.

JD (6) 1. Sangster’s Kirlasidh Speed Bonnie Boat. Red sable with pleasing head properties, correct muzzle slightly pointed with a definite stop. Good length of neck leading to well laid shoulders, level topline and correctly carried tail. Moved around with drive. 2. Todd-McCoid’s Rubyanlo Mr Majestic. Neat, small red boy with dark mask and pleasing expression, decent length of neck leading to a good body with a level topline, good turn of stifle. 3. Taylor’s Caballie Monsieur Soleil for Saffrosa.

LD (5) 1. Fairbairn’s Tidos Interloper. This little dog caught my eye as he strode round the ring. Cream & White with attractive head properties with good length of muzzle, nice length of neck leading to well laid shoulders and straight forelegs. OD (12,2) What a super class with some very difficult decisions – needed many red cards! 1. Rushton, Chang & Robson’s Yensha’s Supersonic With Tidos. Lively fawn and white boy who was full of himself. Correct apple dome head, large dark eyes, decent length of neck leading to strong shoulders, level topline held on the move, nice turn of stifle. 2. MPB (2,1) 1. Lynch’s Garnox Gold Dust Woman. Red & White very lively bitch of 8 months who likes to have her presence known! Lovely dark eyes and pigment, moved with drive holding a level topline.

PB (4) A difficult class to judge. 1. Hornby’s Bramerita I’m A Traitor. Very pretty Black Tri of 10 months with a lovely expression, nice pigment, large dark eyes ,and nice flaring ears. Good depth of chest, straight front, level topline, correct tail set and carriage, good turn of stifle, moved with purpose. Pleased to later award her BPB and BPIB. 2. Magri’s Bramerita Im A Faithful Rozamie. My notes for this dog were identical to those for first in class, not really surprising as they are litter sisters, I struggled to separate them. 3. Incerti’s Milendo Violeta for Perlanera.

JB (5,1) 1. Hornby’s Bramerita Priceless. A cream sable of 13 months already well known in the breed. Pretty and petite, dark eyes and pigment, well laid shoulders, level topline held on the move with correctly held tail, strong hindquarters. Could not deny the RCC. 2. Silverstein’s Bramerita Posy of Violets at Silverchi. Another set of sisters to make life difficult! Again, my notes are very similar, just preferred the forequarters of first placed. 3. Davis & Swales’ Chibull Thunderous Love.

A fawn sable with a pleasing expression, holding a lovely shape on the move, enough neck leading to a level topline, correct tail carriage and good turn of stifle. 2. Parker’s Zuvans Pumpkin Spice. My star of the day, loved this little white & cream girl, so pretty with large dark eyes and cheeky expression, lovely size with good length of neck and overall shape, she moved round the ring with drive saying look at me. Could not deny her the BCC & later BOB. 2. Tyson’s Starceylon Miss Potter. This cream bitch had pleasing head properties, good dark eyes, nice reach of neck, moved and stood well holding a level topline. 3. Todd-McCoid’s Rubyanlo Knock Your Sox Off.

OB (5) 1. Entwistles Ch Dorenty’s Textututango. Small cream & white girl with lovely head properties, round dark eyes and super pigment.
