Scottish Siberian Husky Club Open Show – Bitches

Friday 15th May 2026

Judge: Louise Forster (Kachemak)

I’ll begin by offering some thanks, firstly to the SSHC committee for their very kind invitation to judge the bitches at your Open Show and for the lovely judges gifts, to my stewards, who worked effectively to make the ring run smoothly and, also to Paul Richardson, my co-judge who put through some lovely males to the challenges. I’m glad that we could agree on the top awards between ourselves. Most of all I’d like to express my huge gratitude to all of the exhibitors who stayed until the bitter end of a very long two days of showing to allow me the opportunity to judge your beautiful girls. I found such a delightful breadth of quality with a number of exhibits really catching my eye, and while there was a mix of ‘styles’, I found general ‘fitness’ & body condition to be excellent, and no extremes of either too short and stubby, or too lanky and rangy.

Minor Puppy Bitch – No Entries

Puppy Bitch (1/0)

1st Susikuus Killer Queen At Snodragon (Miss J Caudy) – standing alone but nevertheless a worth winner, this 11 month old looked quite mature for her age, has a very sweet expression with the correct eye shape & placement, tight lips, & a chiselled head of good proportions. Overall, she presents a pleasing outline with a strong, moderately arched neck, strong level topline, slightly sloping croup & is fairly well muscled throughout. The balance created by her front & rear angulation, & her height to length ratios allows a free & easy, ground covering gait, with good reach & drive, her topline remaining solid on the move. Best Puppy Bitch.

Junior Bitch (5/0)

1st Winter Melody I’ll Just Sit And Look Cute At Pelenrise JW (Imp Pol) (P & H Taylor & Taylor-Morris) – what a cracking young lady, presented & handled to perfection. At 14 months, this very pretty, light grey bitch has a maturity beyond her years, with a beautiful head with correct oblique almond shaped eyes, attentive well-placed ears & tight well-fitting lips on slightly tapering muzzle of correct length & depth. She has a good length of neck which is of moderate thickness & flows into a strong level back, with a well-muscled loin. She has a very good front assembly with excellent shoulder layback, good return of upper arm & elbows tight to her ribs. With a good depth of chest, she has just enough leg length, proportionate bone, & good feet. Her rear angulation matches the front giving her an exceptionally pleasing balance. Well-muscled thighs & short upright hocks give her parallel legs when viewed from the rear & allow her to be dead straight on the down & back. On the go around, she glided round the ring with an effortless flowing gait, covering ground with no wasted effort. I’m sure she has a very bright future & I shall watch it with interest. Couldn’t deny her Best Bitch & I was delighted that my co-judge agreed that she should be awarded Best In Show.

2nd Agaelta Northern Light JW (Miss F Penman) – Another very pretty, light grey bitch, clean in outline & presented beautifully. Correct foxy head with nice dark pigment. She has a strong level back, well developed slightly arched loin, sloping croup, good turn of stifle & strong vertical hocks. A good leg length & chest of correct depth with a pleasing height to length ratio. Preferred the front assembly of 1 & therefore the overall balance, but she impressed me with her free-flowing movement, light on her feet & covering ground efficiently.

3rd Cwnhapus Truuli At Klewagin (I & T Wakeling)

Yearling Bitch (1/0)

1st Howlvalley’s Evil Genis At Thistlefrost (Mrs A Reid) – she went unplaced in the previous class but was still clearly enjoying herself & showing off some nice qualities. She scores well in her head which has correct eyes & ears & good muzzle with tight lips. Overall, she has a pleasing top line, good rear with correct well bent stifle & well-defined hock joint but she lacked the reach of some of the others having slightly short & upright upper arm which also brought her in at the elbow.

Postgraduate Bitch (3/0)

1st Charmedkelz’s Dreamfyre (Miss K Bolsover) – this girl topped the class on movement. She presented a pleasing outline with foxy head, mischievous expression, good length of neck which arches nicely, a strong back, sloping croup & was well muscled throughout. She has a good length of leg with slightly sloping pasterns, a deep chest & moved with a quick & light-footed action, covering ground with ease.

2nd Aloustair’s Circle Of Life For Azilvix (Miss CL Jackson) – red bitch with a very foxy head with good eyes & ears & cheeky expression that makes you think she’s up to something. She has nice proportions in profile with good reach of neck, level back & good leg length but is a little upright in her front angulation which affected the smoothness of her movement.

3rd Wightflight Insh (Ms J Platt)

Limit Bitch (5/1)

1st Elleonia Perfect Storm At Snodragon (AI) JW (Miss J Caudy) – excellent strong looking bitch of very good type with a lovely profile. She has a pretty head with correct eyes & dark pigment, just spoilt slightly by larger than ideal ears which also makes her head look slightly small. She has lovely front assembly with good shoulder layback & return of upper arm, with legs of good length & strong slightly sloping pasterns. The rear echos the angles of the front creating balance & allows her to effortlessly propel herself around the ring with a smooth, ground covering gait.

2nd Arcticskies Black Diva JW (Mr & Mrs DA & RJ Simms) – nicely put together bitch with a lot to like. I preferred the lovely typical foxy head & expression on this girl. Smaller all through than 1 but all in proportion, she has a pleasing neat outline when stood with good leg length, medium bone & very nice height to length ratio. She moved cleanly out & back but didn’t quite match the smoothness & propulsion of 1 on the go around.

3rd Mydisa Heilan Peelie Waaly At Klewagin (I & T Wakeling)

Open Bitch (9/3) Super class of quality bitches

1st Inneska Black Pearl (Mr & Mrs McInnes) – this striking black & white bitch caught my eye immediately with her smart, clean outline & ‘ready for anything’ attitude. She has a very typical fox like head with correct ears, dark pigmentation & pleasing proportions giving her a keen, mischievous expression, with just slightly rounder eyes than ideal. I liked her balance & body proportions throughout, with matching front & rear angles, pleasing neck length & shape, level back, slightly arched loin, sloping croup & straight legs with proportionate bone, good pasterns & parallel hocks. She moved with immense power & covered ground so effortlessly, looking like she could keep going all day. Very happy to award her Reserve Best Bitch in tough competition.

2nd Ch Mydisa Heilan Wee Haiver (L & S Wynne) – this is a bitch I have judged before & given BOB to & I could so easily have done the same today, had she not had other ideas. After a long two days of showing, she had clearly had enough of all the fussing. I was able to go over her though & she was a little more relaxed on the move. She has a typical expression, with beautiful head & neck, a strong level back, well-muscled loin & excellent tail set & carriage all of which gives her an elegant, feminine outline. Moving, her forward & rear angulation generates a smooth & ground covering gait with her topline held firm. I was delighted to see that she has gained her crown since I judged her last & it’s a shame she was not on top form for me today.

3rd Ch Pelenrise Don’t Let Me Go JW (P & H Taylor & Taylor-Morris)

Veteran Bitch (3/1)

1st Norste Kanguyak (Mrs N Shaw) – 10 year old bitch in excellent condition who powered around the ring with an effortless grace. She has a typical head & expression with good eyes & ears. She has a level back with arch over her loin & sloping croup, a topline which was held strong on the move. Medium bone & good length of leg with strong but flexible pasterns & good tight feet. She has good depth of chest, correct rib shape & slight tuck up. She was unchallenged for Best Veteran In Show but looked like she belonged in the final winner’s line up, nonetheless.

2nd Shaytaans Upyours At Icynights (Mrs S Jones-Coia) – another delightful veteran of 9 years & striding out cleanly but without the drive of 1 today. She has a lovely head with dark eyes & pigment, defined stop & well used ears. She has a nice balance with a good neck, back, croup & tail, good depth of chest & straight legs of good length. She has a nice bend of stifle with well-defined hock joint & vertical hocks.
