Scottish Kennel Club All Breeds Show

Thursday 14th May 2026

Judge: Mrs Louise Forster (Kachemak)

Thank you to the SKC committee for the invitation to judge CEDs at your All Breeds show. Thanks also to my stewards, Lorraine & Anna for keeping the ring running smoothly. Thank you to the exhibitors for making the journey north, allowing me to judge your lovely dogs and taking my decisions with such good grace. I was delighted with the entry both in terms of numbers and quality. I hope this special breed continues to maintain it’s heritage and specific breed traits that set it apart from the other freighting sled dogs.

Open Dog (5/1)

1st - Ir Ch Akna Panda* Ir Jch (Ms R E Bailey) – Powerful looking 3 year old lad who exuded breed type. He has a cracking head with correct eye shape & placement & wonderfully thick, correctly placed ears giving a beautiful typical expression. His neck is thick & strong, his back is firm & level, he has a strong well-muscled loin & his coat is harsh. He has adequate bone, good feet & correct angles, giving him balance & enabled him to effortlessly propel himself round the ring with the correct brisk trot showing immense power & great rear drive. Best Dog & Best Of Breed

2nd - Multi Ch Aavuuta Qimmiq Akiak ShCEx (Imp Can) Bel/ir Jch (Mrs P A Byrne) – Another lovely boy with lots of very good qualities, excelling especially in the head, neck & front assembly. He has lovely, thick, well furred ears. Overall, quite a different style of dog than 1st, with heavier bone & longer body giving the appearance of a slightly shorter leg. Despite being longer in the back, he still held it well on the move & expended little excess energy with an efficient gait. Couldn’t quite match the drive of 1 today. Reserve Best Dog

3rd - Norstrela Pulsar Wind via Innugati (Miss Y Needham)

Res - Akna Palmatum (Mrs S & Mr K Hooley)

Puppy Bitch )1/0)

1st - Akna Zira (Mrs S & Mr K Hooley) – Pretty 11 month old bitch who was being a bit of a madam for her young handler. She pulled herself together when her Mum took the lead briefly to allow me to get my hands on her. She does have lots to like with nice head, correct eyes & ears, good strong neck, a harsh coat & a pleasing balance of front & rear angulation. On the move, back with her young pilot, she gave a good account of herself once she settled. Down & back her front & rear legs moved in parallel. Going around she showed drive & displayed glimpses of the brisk trot I’d expect to see in this breed. Best Puppy.

Post Graduate Bitch (3/1)

1st - Snoqualmie Fairy Firefly (Mrs S & Mr K Hooley) – Attractive typey bitch, just short of 2 years old & full of herself. She has a beautiful head with an appealing expression with correct eye & ear placement. She has an excellent harsh coat of correct length & in a striking black colour which made her look very smart. She has adequate bone & really nice feet. Her markings gave the impression of slightly upright upper arm but that’s not the case. She moved with a brisk & powerful gait. Reserve Best Bitch

2nd - Qimugta Junipero (Miss S & Mrs Y Atkins & Needham) – I liked this girl & she almost took the class but I preferred the slightly more compact shape, & drive of 1. She has an attractive head, muscular neck & strong level topline. She has very good angles & this enabled her to have an efficient & ground covering action on the go around.

Open Bitch (3/1)

1st - Asiaq Queen Fabiola (Miss Y Needham) – A bitch I have judged before & found her even more appealing this time around. At 6 years she is fully mature & in great condition with excellent muscling throughout. She has a lovely head with wonderful thick ears. She has a strong level back, excellent shoulder layback & matching rear angles which present a lovely balanced outline in profile & give her a powerful & driving side gait. Best Bitch

2nd - Int/ir/nld/bel Ch Harpan Charlotte Bay Ir/b Jch VW (Mrs P A Byrne) – 8 year old bitch who was a little out of sorts today. She has a nice head, a strong thick neck & good angles at both ends. Longer in loin than 1, she still held her topline straight & strong on the move, however she didn’t have the condition & drive of 1. Best Veteran
