Critique for Northumberland and Durham Bulldog Club Championship Show , April 12th 2026.

Thank you to the club for inviting me to judge this show, I was so happy with the entry as the venue is in the far north and fuel is so expensive at the moment, thank you to everyone that entered.

I was overall so happy with the health of the dogs, no negative comments to report. We are in the fortune position of having some excellent young males and females coming through, which should lead to exciting times ahead.

1. Baby Puppy Dog (4,2)

1st. 61. Kinlockbulls SofaKing What

Balanced puppy, looks how a young puppy should. Clear round eye, placed well in a flat skull, large nose with open nostrils, enough tack on of shoulder for age, gentle fall and rise to topline. Lovely health tail, set low. Moved well.

2nd.53. Bahooke Highland Sovereign Again looks just right for age, very nice type, lovely length to skull, dark round eye. open nostrils, deep brisket to square front. Short back. Lovely close, short coat. Very happy on the move , movement looked OK and consistent with age.

2. Baby Puppy Bitch (2,2)

1st 29. Ricatori Vita Vee

What can I say ! A beautifully puppy with excellent substance but still feminine. Very balanced. Round , dark eyes. Flat skull of excellent length, open nostrils on large black nose. Lovely length and width to a super fore face with lovely upsweep. Lovely straight front to moderately round feet. Super pear shaped body , well ribbed. Developing a gentle topline. Well angulated hindquarters to well knuckled feet. Lovely free moving tail. Excellent movement for such a young baby. So excited to see her mature BEST BABY PUPPY.

2nd 29. Jackarhys Ice Queen for Craghyde

A real baby, lovely type. Very pretty. Nice shaped skull, good thin ears, nice layback. Lovely upsweep. Great inverted U shape to underjaw and super dentition on a wide jaw. Straight front , good rib giving pleasing body shape. Healthy tail. Moved well.

4. Minor Puppy Dog ( 4, 3)

1st. 12 Bradiebe B’reytlad 6.5 mths

Larger puppy with good substance. Flat skull with good length. Rose ears, well placed. Lovely dark eye with excellent pigmentation. Large nose and good upsweep. Straight front to tight, moderately round feet. Well tacked on shoulders Enough rib on pear shaped body, well angulated hind quarters. Moved well. A dog to watch in the future.

2nd. Unverdadero’s Tag Im It. 7 mths

Another lovely puppy, standard size with a superb upsweep and layback. Clear dark eyes. Flat skull, lovely length and width to fore face. Good bone to square front, Short cobby body with excellent rib, good tail set. Moved soundly, beautifully presented.

5. Puppy Dog (4,3)

1st 4. Andlare Flummoxed. 10.5 months.

Standard sized boy with fantastic bone. Lovely brick shaped skull, super length to flat skull, rosed ears well placed. Clear, dark and round eyes, large black nose. Obvious furrow. Well tacked on shoulders, square front with good brisket, to neat feet. Excellent bone. Pear shaped body, very well ribbed. Muscular hind quarters with good angulation. Moved soundly and correctly coming and going.

2nd 31. Chayo What About Me. 11.5 months

Larger boy of lovely type, certainly enjoyed his day. Lovely dark round eyes set well on skull, lovely expression. large nose with good nostrils, flat skull with well placed ears. Lovely inverted U shaped underjaw with very good upsweep. Well padded under eyes, great length and width to fore face. Tacked on shoulders , good brisket, large barrelled rib. Tail is an excellent length and free moving. Moved soundly.

6. Junior Dog (4,3)

1st 73. Jackarhys Unwritten 14 months

Super type and very balanced standard sized male, Brick shaped skull with fine wrinkle, not overdone in any way. Almost black round eyes well set in the skull, small thin and rosed ears set on the corners of a flat skull of lovely length. Well padded cheeks and excellent length and width to fore face, lovely inverted u on excellent upsweep, good dentition. Well tacked on shoulders to a square

front , down to neat , moderately round feet. Well let down brisket. In old fashioned terms, his head would fit perfectly between his front legs. Lovely barrelled rib forming a pear shaped body. Topline drops gently behind shoulders rising above the loins and dropping to good tailset. Muscular hindquarters. Healthy tail. Settled enough on the move to see front legs planting just inside the outer line of shoulder and rear feet skimming the ground in semi circular movement, giving him the desired Bulldog Roll. This boy just oozes Breed Type for me. Delighted to award him the Dog CC, Res Best In Show and Best Opposite Sex.

2nd. 1. Rosielolas Henry the Eighth. 16 months

Another strong male. Larger than 1st. Moderately large, clean head with fine wrinkle. Correct rose ears. Clear eyes, good length to skull and forface, correct inverted U with good upsweep. lovely length and arch of neck. Excellent bone on a true and square front, tacked shoulders, Good spring of rib, muscular well angulated hind quarters, moved well coming and going. Unlucky to be in such good company.

7. Yearling Dog (4,2)

1st. 8. Jaybelabee Apollo 17 months

Standard sized white male, masculine head but not overdone, dark eyes, good length to skull. Correct rose ears, well set on skull. Large nose. Very good bone on a true front, nicely angulated rear quarters. Healthy tail. Moved well coming and going

2nd 31. Ronvershas Good Guy. 23 months

More heavily wrinkled in head than 1st, standard sized cobby dog, dark eyes, open nostrils, well balanced. Square front to tidy feet. Muscled hind quarters, moved OK coming and going.

8. Novice Dog (1)

1st Chayo the Magician 16 months

Super type with lovely balance. A little unsettled today but still looked lovely. Wide flat skull with well placed ears, round eyes in line with stop. Wide fore face with good length. Very good upsweep. True square front with good bone, correct round feet, lovely gentle curve to topline. Lovely angulation, short hocks naturally at 90 degrees to the ground. Super movement.

9. Postgraduate Dog (2,1)

48. Chayo What is Love for Tynemite 11 months

Super puppy, larger boy of really lovely , healthy type. lightly wrinkled head, flat skull with rose ears well placed. Lovely distance from ear to corner of eye, definite furrow. Dark , round eyes level with the stop. Large black nose with good nostrils. Well padded under eyes. lovely width to fore face. Correct inverted U shaped underjaw, lovely upsweep, correct dentition. Fabulous length and arch of neck showing clear definition between head and shoulders, well tacked on shoulders, excellent bone on a straight front. Lovely gentle curve to topline, maintained on the move. Well angulated hindquarters, good tuck up. Healthy tail. Moved soundly with energy . Really challenged for top honours, Happy to award Best Puppy In Show. Looking forward to seeing him mature.

10. Limit Dog (6,5)

1st 6. Asharlow Fury For Andlare

Standard size, fit for function, super length of skull, rose ears set on corners of flat skull. Correct round eye. Large black nose. Lovely upsweep with excellent width of under jaw and super dentition. Pear shaped body. Well angulated hind quarters. Excellent movement coming and going. Beautifully presented.

2nd. 66. Blondello’s Doctor Strange.

Another standard boy with lovely balance. Brick shaped skull with good upsweep and dentition. Very dark eyes. Excellent tacked on shoulders. Barrelled rib, healthy tail. Super breed typical movement.

11. Open Dog (6,2)

1st. 28. Ricatori Reimagined

Super type, standard sized boy with excellent balance. Very clean head, good length of skull, healthy, round, dark eyes . Lovely width of fore face and super upsweep. Correct rose ears. Excellent length and arch of neck. Well boned, square and straight front. Short body with great rib. Healthy tail. Muscular hindquarters. Excelled in movement both coming and going. Happy to award RDCC.

        2nd 41 CH Shottle King Edwardat Tedsbull

Lovely type with super balance, Brick shaped skull, super dark eyes, large black nose, Lovely thin rosed ears good length of neck. Excellent tack of shoulder and bone on straight front. Good round and neat feet. Barrelled rib. Correct topline to healthy tail. Good tuck up. Lovely front movement.

12. 81. Veteran Bitch(3,2)

            1st 81 Gailbulls Cleo The Jazz Singer 12.5 yrs

Super lively and healthy 12.5 year old female that is full of life, standard size, Clear eyes, good nostrils, large nose with good nostrils. Good length of neck , Excellent rib .Super movement , still as sound as a younger dog. Her breeder should be proud. BEST VETERAN

2nd 9. Jaybelabee Snow White 7.5 yrs

Super , standard sized girl of lovely type. Flat skull, lovely clear dark eye, Large black nose, Good length of neck. excellent body shape , well ribbed. Well angulated, moved soundly. A credit to her owner.

1st 32 Jackarhys My Fair Lady at Bemojo

Beautiful puppy, correct size for age. Excels in head qualities, lovely length of skull with super black , round eyes. Large nose, lovely upsweep. Very feminine.

Excellent square front with straight bone. Good length of neck, good body length and rib. Healthy tail. Moved soundly.

2nd 39. Blenheimstar Rose Up Again.

Another lovely puppy, she was just a little reluctant on the day. The most lovely skull shape with excellent length, dark eyes, super upsweep. Lovely thin rosed ears. Good bone on a square front. Well ribbed, well angulated. Moved soundly when settled.

14. Puppy Bitch (10,7)

1st Andlare Eanie Meanie 10mths (10/7)

Just a lovely bitch. Standard size. Lovely head qualities, good length on a flat skull, wide foreface, well fitting lips, lovely upsweep and underjaw. Super round eyes, almost black. Large black nose with open nostrils. Correct straight and square front. Neat feet. Well let down brisket. Huge rib. Angulated rear quarters. Good healthy tail. Super movement coming and going . Beautifully presented. Will watch her future with interest . BPB and RBCC

2nd. 27. Asharlow Rumour Has It

Standard, super clean bitch, lovely head with very little wrinkle on a skull of good length. Dark round eye. Excellent tack on of shoulder, good depth of brisket. Square straight front. Very correct topline with lovely curve a to a healthy tail. Sound movement coming and going.

15. Junior Bitch 6 (5)

1st Mystyle The Dutchess at Unverdadero

Lovely bitch that is an example of excellent health and type. Very clean head . Excellent length of skull, the best eyes, so round and dark. Large nose with open nostrils. Lovely underjaw and upsweep. Well placed thin rosed ears. Straight square front. Good width to rib and sound movement. Beautifully presented

               2nd. Chayo Sweet Surrender

Another lovely female of standard size, super strength in the head, flat skull, super dark, round eyes. Lovely foreface with great upsweep. Correct tack on to square front. Lovely barrel of rib, nice curve to topline. Well angulated and healthy tail. A little unsettled today but moved soundly.

1st 71. The Crown of The Bulldog Taylor Swiftat Treasureabull.

Standard sized white bitch shown in tip top condition. Brick shaped, flat skull. Very light wrinkle. Dark eyes. Straight, square, front, neat feet. Excellent rib. Well angulated hind quarters. Well muscled. Moved soundly. A real showgirl.

17. Novice Bitch 5 (3)

1st. 82 Gailbulls Ginger Rogers

Very strong girl, very balanced. Super brick shaped skull with great width of foreface. Healthy dark eyes. Well placed ears. Straight, square front. Excellent tack on. Moved soundly, handled well.

 2nd.54 Melafella Miss Behave at Bahooke

Standard size girl, beautiful eyes. Flat skull. Super straight and square front. Lovely upsweep on a strong foreface. Moved well and breed typically coming and going. Shown in fabulous condition.

1st. 40. Blenheimstar What Can I Say

Standard size, good weight. Strong head with flat skull. Clear dark eyes. Large nose with open nostrils. Lovely inverted U on super upsweep. Good length of neck. Large rib well set healthy tail. Angulated hind quarters. Super movement coming and going.

2nd. 22. Bohemiapride Mavis

Very balanced. Well placed ears on skull. Good upsweep. Very good length of neck. Straight front. Good topline, enough rib. Healthy tail. Moved OK today.

19. Limit Bitch 7(4)

1st 23. Ladymere The Beauty Bybel

Very feminine standard sized bitch . Very balanced. Clean head with light wrinkle. Ears well away from eyes. Lovely round dark eye. Well placed thin rose ears. Lovely expression. Well tacked on shoulders. Good brisket. Straight front with strong pasterns. Good tuck up, gentle curve to a correct topline.

2nd 56. Kenzduo American Pie for Tourmabull.

Very balanced. Flat skull. Definite furrow Great upsweep on wide foreface. Lovely thin ears. Straight front with good bone. Pleasing topline and tuck up maintained on the move. Excellent movement front and rear. Beautifully and kindly handled.

      20 . Open Bitch 8(6)

What a class, so lovely to have such high quality females, all could win a class on another day.

1st. 47 Quimica De New Gryffindor Mystyle (IMP Esp)

Super balanced girl. with strong yet feminine head. Lovely flat skull with excellent length. Definite furrow. Well placed round and dark eyes in line with stop. Large black nose with open nostrils . lovely width to foreface and well padded cheeks, The best upsweep, fabulous dentition on a wide jaw, all these things together give a stand off yet feminine expression. Good tack on of shoulder to a straight front. Good Brisket. Good barrel of rib. Lovely well knuckled feet. Correct gentle curves to topline , mirrored by a corresponding tuck up. Healthy , free moving tail.

Lovely angulation with well let down hocks, set at a perfect angle to the ground.

Moved soundly, rear feet just skimming the ground. In immaculate condition. Super, gentle and professional handling.

Delighted to award her BCC and Best In Show.

2nd . 70. D’orWood Una Storia Importante

A beautiful bitch that is so worthy. Very feminine and pretty. Lovely head qualities, good width and length in foreface, lovely inverted U shape to jaw ,large black nose with open nostrils. Dark eyes. Well placed rose ears. Tacked on shoulders, good brisket. Huge rib, pleasing topline. Slightly longer in body than 1. Healthy tail. Super movement. On another day could be in top honours. Handled well.
