East Anglian Collie Association Championship Show - 2nd August 2026

It was an honour to officiate at my favourite Collie show, one that I have been involved with for many years, and having served on its committee for at least 20 or more. It is always a pleasure to have some lovely dogs put through by the selected judges, and I found the ones today to be of good quality all through and despite the choices I made, win or lose they were all lovely Collies of good breed type.

BIS: CH. Chelborn Tell Me Your Wish (Cronk) ROUGH COLLIE: Very feminine SSW bitch of 4 years old. She came dressed for the warm weather today, not that it mattered, as what she has in general appearance, and characteristics all contribute to her being a fine Rough Collie and being fit for function. Her head is of equal length, very clean, with medium almond shaped eye, correctly set ears, and well-placed stop, all contributing to producing a lovely feminine expression. She is well proportioned and balanced with just the right amount of bone and substance. Her shape is accentuated by her frame, being ideal for size, and her muscular neck holds her head proudly giving a lovely flowing outline to her body. She has a good spring of rib, close elbows, and good turn of stifle. She moved fluently, with good reach and drive, and showed well despite the heat on the day. (I also had the pleasure of judging her sire to BIS at EACA in 2021, and thought him to be one of the most outstanding Collies I’ve ever judged for his excellent movement!).  

RES BIS: CH. Blamorder Double or Quits at Oakestelle JW (Benton) SMOOTH COLLIE: Another lovely Collie, who has gained her title at a very young age, and rightly so! She is another of good breed type, who has all the essentials, but just needs a bit more maturity to go with it. She is textbook colour for a blue and is well constructed and balanced in length to height. Her head is clean, with level planes, perceptible stop, flat skull, and obliquely set almond shaped eyes with correctly tipped ears complimenting her expression. She still has a little bit of development to come in body, but she still has enough depth in chest, length of rib, and good strength in her hind quarters being muscular in upper thigh with strong well let down hocks. She moves with much enthusiasm and shows so well for her proud owner.  

BOS IS: Kelekona Hearts of Gold JW (Cooper) ROUGH COLLIE: Dark mahogany coloured male who has just turned 4 years old and is now maturing to his best. He sports a nice outline, with a fair length of neck, and decent front angulation which comes from a well laid-back shoulder, and good angulation of upper arm. His elbows are close to his chest, with good ribbing, a firm back and a slight rise over the loin. He has a good length of head with a kind, but masculine expression. His well-presented coat fits his body, and he moved quite freely from all angles. Personally, size wise, I would prefer him a shade bigger all over. His owner must be very proud of him to have been awarded his second CC today. Good luck with campaigning him to his 3rd!

BPIS/BMPIS: Takhisis Lady is a Tramp (Wray-Ramsden) ROUGH COLLIE: What a delightful tricolour puppy of just 8 months old, who has the most charming head and sweetest of expressions. She has a lovely dark almond shaped eye obliquely set, with correctly placed and well used ears, and smoothly rounded muzzle. She has a fair length of neck, and straight front, with short pasterns, and oval feet. Her body is developing well, showing a good spring of rib, and length of back with well set on of tail. She has a decent amount of coat for her age, and she moved very confidently. A promising exhibit for the future. 

RES.BPIS: Kelekona Hearts of Fire (Cooper) ROUGH COLLIE: Tricolour son of BOSIS winner who is following along similar lines to his sire. He stands a shade taller, but at 10 months he has reached the ideal height, and all he needs to do now is fill out and drop into himself, which will then balance him out and enhance his outline. He has a clean head, with a well arched neck, firm back, long tail and good bone. His coat is a dense black enhanced by a full white collar. His movement is rather loose at present, but maturity and development should help strengthen this over time. 

BVIS: Int.DK.NI.Norsk CH. Belrosa Always on my Mind (ATC) (Drougge) ROUGH COLLIE: Gosh – where did this beautiful Collie appear from! It was such a lovely surprise to see this stunning male who stood proudly and with impassive dignity amongst some of our lovely examples of the breed today. He is by all means male in size, obviously being bred on lines from outside the UK. He is a quality dog all through, and has the most super outline, coming from good angulations, with ample bone and substance. His head is clean enough with good eye shape and placement, correct ears although lightly tipped, and a masculine if a little strong in expression. He moved soundly and is in excellent condition for his age, and was so very well presented. I just couldn’t take my eyes off him. Thank you for bringing him long distance to the EACA summer show.  

Res.BVIS: CH. Oakestelle Artemis Shcex VW (Benton) SMOOTH: Merle bitch of 9 years, who doesn’t tend to show her age at all. She has a lovely body, which is balanced in outline with good muscle-tone and strong bone - she is certainly fit for function. She has a clean head, balanced in length, enough muzzle with well-placed stop, dark almond eye, and correctly placed ears. Sufficient length of neck, deep chest reaching to elbow, good spring of rib, with well angulated rear and strong well let down hocks. She moved with ease showing good reach and drive, but for me she couldn’t quite match the Rough for style and ring presence today.
