Driffield Championship Dog Show

Japanese Chin 

My thanks to Driffield for inviting me to judge Japanese Chin and to my stewards for their hard work.  

SBD (1 Entries) Abs: 0 

1st: 507 HARBRON, Miss Sheila Bellflows Mitsu. Nice sized dog. Square in outline with fine bone and hare feet, enough rib. Level topline on the stand with high set tail. Really nice head. Well cushioned muzzle with well set ears and dark eye, rounded skull and lovely pigment. Could have more strength behind.  

MPD (1 Entries) Abs: 0 

1st: 504 FOYNES, Mr Aidan John Sharlarna Abracadabra For Lafay. A lively puppy enjoying his time in the ring. Dark eye with correct amount of white showing. Fine boned. Good width to chest, developing a good body, level topline, enough neck, high set tail, well angled rear. Moved well when settled.  

PD (3 Entries) Abs: 0 

1st: 529 ROONEY, Mr S & GREEN, Mr J & GREEN, Mrs A Jaschin Headliner. Smaller and finer in type. Still needs to develop in body. Straight front. Lovely large dark eyes and expression, good cushioning to muzzle. Super square. Moved out well.  

2nd: 500 CRANE, Mrs L Cranvarl Mr Bo Jangles. Lovely type and shape with a good coat developing. Short in back with high set tail, well angled rear. Large dark eye, well cushioned muzzle and rounded skull. Could move out with more purpose.  

3rd: 505 FOYNES, Mr Aidan John Sharlarna Lion Heart For Lafay 

JD (1 Entries) Abs: 0 

1st: 497 CALVERT, Mr K & Mrs G Somergemz Pawfection. Larger frame dog. All male. Presents a super shape, so square in outline. Super head with good cushioning to muzzle and large dark eye showing required amount of white. Good width to chest and spring of rib developing well. Well angled rear. Moved out well when settled. I look forward to seeing him when he is the “finished article” as lots of promise.  

PGD (3 Entries) Abs: 1 

1st: 498 CRANE, Mrs L Cranvarl's Back In Black. Smart little dog. Presents a nice picture on the stand with square outline and nice coat coming in. Nice reach of neck leading into well laid shoulder. Good rib cage. Fine boned and hare feet. Showed very well. 

2nd: 510 HUBBLE & SUMMERBELL, Mr D & B Dabrives Silver Tempest. Masculine head with broad skull and dark eye. Dog of good substance and body, level topline, width to chest and short coupled. Moved out well on first go round but unfortunately “lost his tail”.  

LD (6 Entries) Abs: 2 

1st: 509 HUBBLE & SUMMERBELL, Mr D & B Sharlarna Hit Man For Dabrives. Masculine dog with good body and rib cage on him. Liked his head proportions, large head with rounded skull, dark eye showing small amount of white and high set ears. In good coat but enough reach of neck to not make him appear “stuffy”. Square in outline and short coupled, well angled rear. Moved OK. Nice dog overall. 

2nd: 511 KANNAGARA, Miss S M Sangria Ps I Love You. A nice dog to go over although nothing “glamourous”. He is square in shape. Nice head with good cushioning and dark eye. Straight front, level topline with high set tail, well angled rear. Moves out well.  

3rd: 520 POTTS, Mr R & Mrs J Somergemz Highland Laddie For Adreeam JW 

OD (7 Entries) Abs: 2 

1st: 526 ROONEY, Mr S & GREEN, Mr J & GREEN, Mrs A Ch Jaschin Working Man I Am. Took my eye coming in. Elegant in outline and shown in good, silky coat. Scored in outline. Masculine head with large dark eye, small amount of white showing giving correct expression. Good reach of neck into straight front, well ribbed, level topline with high set with a full plume. Is a lovely mover and never let his handler down with his lively attitude. Delighted to award him the CC & BOB.  

2nd: 521 QUINN, Mrs T & Mr A Ch Sharlarna Swindler JW. A very eye-catching dog show in lovely coat and condition. Another with a masculine head, super cushioning and width to muzzle, high set well feathered ears. Good length of neck helping give him his elegant appearance. Level topline, high set tail, enough rib, well angled rear. Super muscle. Moves out well with drive around the ring. An accomplished show man. RCC.   

3rd: 491 BLAIR, Mrs G Lux Ch Sharlarna's Chaos At Bellflows ShCEx 

 VB (2 Entries) Abs: 1 

1st: 525 ROONEY, Mr S & GREEN, Mr J & GREEN, Mrs A Ch Swifthocks Paws For Thought JW. Have always admired this bitch and even at 10 years old could show the youngsters how to show and move- her handler struggled to keep up with her! Beautiful head even if she is showing her age a little now. She is well made throughout, straight front, good rib, “cobby”, well angled rear and square. A real show girl.  

PB (3 Entries) Abs: 1 

1st: 528 ROONEY, Mr S & GREEN, Mr J & GREEN, Mrs A Jaschin Cover Girl. Super pretty puppy. Lovely eye and expression. Fine boned, straight in front with some width to chest, good rib developing, level topline held at all times, high set tail and well angled rear. She comes into her own on the move where she has some style. Still some maturing to do and as you would expect at this age but a very promising prospect. BPIB. 

2nd: 513 LINDLEY, Mrs Susan Elizabeth Kassui Mitsuki. Also a very stylish puppy but just not as together as the first at the moment. Pretty head with large dark eye and high set well feathered ears, good reach of neck leading into level topline. Fine boned with hare feet. Moved out well.  

PGB (4 Entries) Abs: 0 

1st: 494 BRADLEY, Miss Louise Jayne Sharlarna Her Flick. Love the shape of this bitch. Elegant and square she takes the eye. Good reach of neck. Scores in body and rib cage which was lacking in many. Dark eye. Straight front with good layback of shoulder, fine boned with hare feet, short in back, well angled rear. Moved well in this class. Unfortunately, she was not happy by the time of the challenge.  

2nd: 516 PEARCE, Ms Tina Marguerita & HANN, Ms S Rakuchin Helen Bach. Promising young bitch. Pretty head with large, dark eye. Petite and fine boned, hare feet. Straight front. Still needs a bit more body which should come with maturity. Moves out well and shows very well.  

3rd: 523 RATTER, Mrs Loraine Cranvarl's Back To Black At Seafar 

LB (3 Entries) Abs: 1 2 nice bitches in this class.  

1st: 495 CALVERT, Mr K & Mrs G Somergemz Balenciaga. Eye catching sable presented in beautiful, silky coat . A real elegant glamour girl. Full of herself and enjoying her time in the ring. Prettiest of heads with large eye showing small amount of white, good cushioning and high set ears. She is square, good rib cage (if a little too much covering), level topline, high set tail, well angled front and rear. Moves out with style. Well presetned. Considered her in the challenge. 

2nd: 506 GULLON, Mr C J Adreeam Alice JW. Well made bitch throughout who would be a useful asset to any kennel. Large dark eye and good proportions to head. Nice size. Straight front with width, a good rib cage and sqaure giving her that “cobby” appearance. Again moved out well just not the finish or attitude of 1 but I am sure her day will come.  

OB (7 Entries) Abs: 1. A lovely class.  

1st: 530 SHARP-DIXON, Mr Kevin & LEACH, Mrs Sue Sharlarna Fantastique. “Small, square and pretty”. The prettiest of heads and expression, large dark eye with white showing, good cushioning and well set ears. Straight front with well laid shoulder, enough rib, level topline and high set tail. I love her overall balance and shape and she really comes together on the move, moving out with style and drive. A little more coat would really finish the picture but of course, all bitches drop their coat at some point! BCC- her second.  

2nd: 522 QUINN, Mrs T & Mr A Ch Harlouville Uptown Girl JW. A veteran bitch I have admired previously. Super glamourous and eye catching, she is a real show girl. Large head with broad, round skull, good cushioning to muzzle. Super square in outline. Well angled front and rear, a good rib cage and high set fully plumed tail, she is well made throughout. Shown in full silky coat that was well presented. Another fabulous mover. RCC & BVIB. 

3rd: 524 ROONEY, Mr S & GREEN, Mr J & GREEN, Mrs A Ch Jaschin First Edition
