Canadian Eskimo Dogs

Thank you to the fabulous committee for my invitation to judge this Beautiful breed at my first ever Championship show appointment. I had a Lovely day watching other breeds before our breed was able to commence judging and other than a prolonged wait for an exhibitor to return to the ring allowing me to award one of the top honours rather than withholding, the ring was efficiently run by my 2 lovely stewards. Thank you to all my exhibitors for giving me such a lovely sized entry for our breed.

1) Byrne, Mrs P A. Multi CH AAVUTA QIMMIQ AKAIK ShCEx (IMP CAN) BEL/IR JCH 4-year-old and one that I have judged before and he didn't disappoint the 2nd time round as can sometimes be the case. Lovely masculine wedge-shaped head with correct eye and ear. Good height to length ratios and well-proportioned all round, nice depth and width of chest, good spring of rib, level top-line on the stand and moving.  lovely strong pasterns and neat feet. Moved straight and true on the out and back and carried himself round the ring with a lovely typical brisk trot. Shown in good working muscled condition, well handled and presented in lovely condition allowing him to command the ring. Best Dog and RBOB

2)Bailey, Ms R E. IR CH AKNA PANDA * IR JCH. 3-year-old, another lovely typey male, could see 1 and 2 swapping places on another day. slightly smaller than 1 but of good bone and correct height to length ratios, nice head with good eye & ear in size, set and shape. Nice length of neck, good angulation front and rear, carries a level top-line with good tail set, well-muscled and was presented in lovely overall condition. Moved well with a brisk trotting action just not as consistently straight behind at times on the out, potentially owing to the ground but had to go with what I saw on the day. RBD

3)Hooley, Mrs S & Mr K, BEL CH AKNA PALMATUM FIN/LUX JCH

1)Cronin, Mr K & Mrs T A, AKNA WARHORSE**. Almost 8-Year-old, Nice typey wedge shaped head with obliquely set eyes and well furred ears of correct shape and size. Not the easiest to assess as seemed a little unsettled with his handler. Good length of neck and nice lay of shoulder and a chest of good depth. Would have liked to see tighter feet and stronger pasterns. Unfortunately, his almost complete lack of muscle contributes to his sloping top-line on the stand and moving

1)Hooley, Mrs S & Mr K, AKNA ZIRA. 13-month-old with a nice feminine head, good eye and ear, still has some maturing to do as is expected at this age but seems to be coming along nicely. Nice length of neck and good front angles. I did see glimpses of a naturally level topline and good rear angulation, but she was a little fidgety and not totally focused when standing making her slightly harder to accurately assess. Moved well holding her topline on the move and was presented in good overall condition.

1)Cronin, Mr K & Mrs T A, NORSTRELA BUTTERFLY, 5-year-old, quite timid during the hands on but was of good bone, she has a nice wedge-shaped head with good eye and ear. Level topline when she relaxed enough to allow it and tail set was good, longer in coat than i would like and had been left with a shampoo faux pas causing a slight tint to her coat. Nicely laid shoulders and good depth of chest, another that was lacking in muscle tone impacting her overall movement.

1)McKinlay, Lady S. IR CH CARLOTTA DI SAVOIA (IMP ITA), 4-year-old who is lighter in bone than some today however this does not impact her overall proportions. Feminine head with good ratios, good eye and ear, lovely length of neck and good chest with a nice spring of rib, correct front angulations, lovely feet set on strong correct pasterns, level topline throughout and well-set tail leading down to a nice bend of stifle and well muscled rear. She moved well throughout and was handled and presented to get the very best from her. RBB

2)Atkins, Miss S M, IR/LUX CH QIMUGTA MISS MARPLE IR JCH, 5 year old bitch much rangier than 1 but still in proportion in height to length ratios. Nice wedge head with good eye and ear size and shape with the latter being well furred. Moderate lay of shoulder and a slightly more upright pastern than I would prefer. Good depth of chest, level topline when settled and had a well-muscled rear of good angulation and set on nice, neat feet. Unfortunately, not as sound on the move as 1 today.

3)Cronin, Mr K & Mrs T A, NORSTRELA LOST JEWEL

1)Atkins, Miss S M, IR CH QIMUGTA HARPIST, A 7-year-old who is another that I have judged before and she really impressed me today. Lovely feminine wedge head with good eye and ear. Nice length of neck, correct chest and good spring of rib sitting under a strong level topline, nice tuck up with a mildly longer loin, well angulated throughout, strong pasterns on lovely feet and this all put together translated through in her effortless brisk trot and straightness front and rear on her out and back. Handled very well and presented in peak condition. I could not deny her of BB, BOB and BV today.
