National Terrier Club

Breed: Skye Terrier

I would like to thank the committee of National Terrier for inviting me to judge at this well run, prestigious show and the exhibitors who entered under me. Not a huge entry but there were some quality dogs present.

Class 299 VD/B (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 842 SANDERSON, Mr N & SANDERSON, Mrs Lisa Ch Esgia Highland Laddie VW, up to size silver dog presented in first class condition. Decent overall shape and balance. Excellent head with good strength and correctly placed fringed ears which he used to advantage. Adequate length of neck leading into well placed shoulders and straight forelegs. Deep oval ribs leading back into a short loin. Muscular well angulated hind quarters. Coat presented in gleaming condition but a little soft to touch. Moved well and soundly in both directions, covering the ground well.

Class 300 MPD (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 829 CURTIS, Mrs Jane Verumamicus Lord Falcor of Brakemill, promising 6 month old baby. Presents a nice picture standing, although I would prefer him a mite longer in back for ideal. Super head and eye, with good strength to jaw. Correctly set ears, which he used well, just need to firm up a little. Excellent neck, leading into correctly placed shoulders. Good depth of chest and straight forelegs. Good substance and ribbing for one so young and holds a nice level topline. Well angulated hindquarters with good muscle. On the move he is free and easy, with a super driving action from the rear and sound in front. Only a baby but his super rear movement nudged him ahead of the puppy bitch winner for Best Puppy in Breed, congratulations.

Class 304 LD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 844 SIMPSON, Mrs Karen Diane Tiny Winne Argon Targaryen (Swed Imp) cream dog that has come on leaps and bounds over the previous months. Well presented, with a lovely harsh jacket. Good overall outline when standing, holding a level topline. Excellent head of the correct proportions with dark expressive eyes. Decent length of neck and good depth of chest but his elbows could be tighter, and front legs could be straighter. Correct oval ribcage set back into a short loin. Well-developed and angulated hindquarters. Moved well and freely but a little close coming towards. I think his profile action would look better if his owner could get his head up slightly more.

Class 305 OD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 832 HEATH, Mrs R Ch Lavaux's Bahamian Chris, lovely sized, elegant silver male, presented in first class order. On the table he presented a lovely outline being long, low & level. He has a strong, masculine head with a good strength of jaw, slight stop & moderate width to back skull. Ears well fringed, set correctly and used to advantage. Well set, expressive dark eyes. Long neck, leading well back into broad shoulders. Deep chest & decent forelegs with good bone. Elbows could be tighter. Oval ribs set well back into a good short loin & well covered. Well angulated hindquarters with good muscle tone. Moves freely around the ring & ever so sound, just carries his tail a little proud. Happy to award him the DCC.

2nd: 838 LYNE, Mrs Julie Madaza Box Of Frogs cream drop, looking the best I have seen him look and unlucky to come up against 1 today. Not quite as elegant as my winner in outline, but is long, low & holds a firm topline most of the time. Super head, masculine & of a good strength. Correct strong jaw, with a good bite. He has well placed dropped ears beautifully furnished, framing his head perfectly. Sufficient length of neck leading into well placed shoulders. Again, I would like his elbows a little tighter to his chest his deep chest. Oval ribcage, covered well with good body and substance. Tail set well & never carried above his back. Well angulated hindquarters with excellent muscle tone. He moves freely around the ring & sound both coming & going and I had no hesitation in awarding him the RDCC.

Class 306 MPB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 841 PARKER, Mrs C A Verumamicus Fenja Plume, very much the baby at 6 months old & still with a lot of maturing to do but she has a promising shape & outline. Very pretty head with good strength and a cheeky expression. Lovely, fringed ears for her age, they just need to firm up. Good length of neck leading into well placed shoulders. Lovely body for her age and a good oval shaped ribcage that leads back into a short loin. Well angulated hindquarters, with good muscle. Moved around the ring freely & happily, just needs a little more practice to complete the picture.

Class 307 PB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 843 SANDERSON, Mr N & SANDERSON, Mrs Lisa Skyeshire Briar Rose with Bremerlad – two cream sisters in this class, that are very similar in type, and I am sure will be swapping places in the months to come. Briar Rose at present has slightly more body and substance giving her the edge over Ann today. The more glamorous of the two sisters at present she displays a very nice outline when standing. Super head, with good strength to muzzle and back skull. Excellent ear set and dark eyes. Not the length of neck as her sister and I would prefer her better in front. Super body, with good ribs and short loin. Muscular, well angulated hind quarters. Moved out well with a decent profile action, just needs to tighten in the rear, which lost her BP.

2nd: 834 HEATH, Mrs R & HEATH, Mr Andy Skyeshire Princess Ann, initially as they both walked into the ring I thought she would be my winner. Lovely shape when standing, handler just needs to watch her topline. Super head, with good strength, dark eye and well placed ears that she used to advantage. Excellent length of neck leading into well placed shoulder. Better elbows and straighter forelegs than Briar Rose. Correct oval ribcage set back into a short loin but at present needs more body and substance. Good hindquarters which she uses well on the move as she powers around the ring with super drive from the rear and very sound both ways.

Class 308 JB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 836 KANASOVA, Mrs Martina & KANAS, Mr Robert Ch Flanagan One In A Million Jun Ch, smaller framed silver drop who is such a neat little package. Excellent make & shape. Very pretty head with enough strength. Dark, expressive eyes well placed. Correctly set ears with good fringing, framing her head nicely. Good length neck & well-placed shoulders. Short, straight forelegs with enough bone. Deep chest & correct oval ribcage set back into a short loin. Just enough body and substance. Well angulated rear which she uses to advantage on the move as she powers around the ring with ease & ever so sound. Presented in tip-top condition with a correctly textured coat & handled to get the very best out of her. RBCC

2nd: 846 WHITELAM, Mrs Fiona Headscrook Northern Light cream bitch of a nice shape & outline, just not the elegance of my winner. Feminine head, with enough strength to foreface, good stop & width to skull, well placed ears, which she used well throughout. Long neck, with slight crest, laying well back into good shoulder placement. Short, straight front legs. Deep chest, correct oval ribcage, set right back giving her the correct short loin. Level topline with her tail set right off the level of her back. Good muscular well angled hindquarters, which she used well when moving. In lovely coat & condition.

Class 309 PGB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 830 HARRIS, Mrs Janet Lois Nahearadh Sky Full Of Stars, nicely sized cream bitch of a nice make & shape. Very pretty head, with good furnishings & nice pigment. Long neck leading into broad shoulders. Deep chest & correct oval ribcage set right back into a short loin. Correct tailset & carried well. Well angulated behind with good muscle. Moves freely & sound both coming & going. Correct harsh coat, presented & handled to get the best from her.

Class 310 LB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 845 WHITELAM, Mrs Fiona Madaza Star, cream bitch of a good honest type. Pretty head of the correct proportions, with a lovely expression. Well placed ears, with enough furnishing. Good neck & shoulders, would prefer straighter forelegs & elbows tighter to her chest. Ribs oval & set well back. Well bodied & holding a firm topline at all times. Well developed hindquarters, short straight legs. Moved soundly, both coming with a free profile action.

Class 311 OB (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 835 KANASOVA, Mrs Martina Int Ch Flanagan The Day After Jun Ch, simply stunning cream that I judged 18 months ago and awarded the RBCC from Junior. Since then, she has matured into an even more beautiful bitch and could not be ignored for top honours today. Correct, typical outline when standing. Beautiful head of the correct proportions, with good strength to muzzle, slight stop & good width to skull. Expressive dark eyes set well. Her ears are well placed with good fringing, framing her head nicely. Long length of neck leading well back in the correctly placed shoulders. Excellent forelegs, short & straight, with her elbows tight to her chest. She has a good deep chest & has an excellent body on her. Her ribs are of the correct oval shape & lay well back into a short loin. Good, well angulated, well-muscled hindquarters. Tail set well off a level topline which she holds firmly all the time. In excellent coat of the correct texture, that was gleaming on the day. She moves out soundly & with good drive and so sound coming and going. I had absolutely no hesitation in awarding her the CC & BOB.

2nd: 828 BURSCOUGH, Mr Anthony Kilfinan Nightingail glamorous, black, in lovely coat & condition of the best texture. When standing she presents a good outline, maybe she could be a fraction longer for the ideal. Gorgeous head, with a lovely expression. Beautifully set ears, dripping in fringing that frames her head well. She has a good length of neck, slightly crested leading well back into well placed shoulders. Elbows tight enough to her chest & forelegs short & straight. Good oval ribs sets well back into a nice short loin. Well angulated hindquarters, with good muscle tone. Tail set well & never carried above the level of her back. Moved out well & soundly, to be slightly critical I would like to see more width in her rear, but she had a lovely profile action.

3rd: 833 HEATH, Mrs R Skyeshire Rosie
