Northern Counties Whippet Club

Breed: Whippet

Thanks to NCWC for their invitation to Judge and thanks to Stewards David & Jane. Most of all thank you to the exhibitors for an excellent entry. I was looking for Dogs who fitted the Breed Standard who were 'Balanced ' overall length to height, moderate (correct) angulation fore and aft to give free movement whilst holding their topline

VD (6)

1. Price’s Ch Wheelspin Silver Shadow among Silkdance JW VW. I have always admired this elegant fawn dog. He is now 9 years old and still in top condition; he is all quality. Cleanest of shoulders, very well put together front, curvy outline and moderate quarters. Moved with accuracy and drive. Pleased to see him awarded BVIS by the referee.

2. Holland’s Ch Elmanash Glenfidditch. Unlucky to meet first as he is another quality dog. Excellent for size, moderation and overall balance. Accurate mover in all directions. Just preferred the reach of 1.

3. Allansson’s Jasarat Salted Caramel of Macalldon JW

MPD (6, 1a)

1. Howgate & Hull’s Palmik Raincheck. 8 month old Fawn brindle of lovely size. He had the overall balance and shape I was looking for. Good return of upper arm and clean shoulders. Good topline and strong quarters with well let down hocks. He moved freely and with good accuracy for his age.

2. Lloyd’s Penwincoed Pumpkin Pie. Just 6 month old fawn. He too was good for size, shape and overall balance. Moving well just not the accuracy of 1 at the moment

3. Chaytor’s Aarminias Made In Chelsea at Ramita

PD (8, 1a)

1. Hunter’s Collooney The Argonaut at Sulahmara. 9 month Brindle and white Parti who when he settled really impressed. I liked his size, classic outline and overall balance. Very well constructed front; just needs to drop into his frame which I’m sure he will as he matures. Won the class on his free and easy profile movement.

2. Coulter& Craig’s Collooney Take On The Devil. Elegant black with much to admire. Good for size, quality, overall balance and construction. Moved well although not quite the reach of 1.

3. Bowsher’s Silkridge In Black and White

JD (5, 2a)

1. Dillon’s Citycroft Not My First Rodeo At Runforest JW. A super quality young dog who has a beautiful frame to fill. Most handsome head and expression. Excellent front assembly, topline and strong moderate quarters. Standing on good feet with ideal spring of Pastern. He excels on the move where he moves with great freedom and is so accurate up and back. Best puppy dog

2. Foxwell’s Cobyco Capture The Look at Redfoxia JW. An elegant, quality fawn brindle who is very nicely put together. Very smooth and a good curvy outline. He moved soundly in all directions. Would just prefer him to be a touch more masculine.

3. Perkins’ Silkridge Figgy Pudding with Zeglynn

YD (8)

1. Mallinson’s Edenwhip Oregano JW. Upstanding red brindle. Masculine but still elegant. He had a good neck into shoulders; being smooth and well laid. Correct curvy topline. Presented in excellent condition. He is a super mover; especially in profile where he moved with real purpose.

2. Poole, Winkley & Winkley-Balmer’s Shulune Thrills n’ Spills for Edenwhip. Fawn brindle of ideal size. Appreciated his overall appearance, quality and balance. curvy outline, good quarters and short hocks. Another good mover; just a little close behind.

3. Price’s Kierpark It’s Now or Never among Silkdance JW

MD (5, 1a)

1. Hunter’s Collooney The Argonaut at Sulahmara.

2. Bowsher’s Silkridge In Black and White. 9 month old handsome black who is good for size and substance. Curvy outline. Moved well in all directions. Would prefer more front angulation.

3. Lloyd’s Penwincoed Pumpkin Pie

ND (8, 2a)

1. Howgate & Hull’s Palmik Raincheck

2. Hunter’s Collooney The Argonaut at Sulahmara.

3. Stuart’s Hologem Moonlove for Boskenna

SBD (10)

1. Hutchinson’s Zenobia Just an illusion with Sweetaurora JW. Very handsome fawn brindle who stood out in this class. Particularly appealed for his excellent front assembly; good fill, return of upper arm and clean shoulders. Good overall shape and balance. He moved very well; covering the ground with ease and with accuracy fore and aft. BSBIS.

2. Perkins Silkridge Rapture with Zeglynn. Dark brindle and white. Liked his handsome head, size and curvy top and underline. Good quarters. Moved out well in profile.

3. Parkinson’s Groomsville Dream Of Me

GD (5)

Two very handsome brindle boys headed this class with little to split them.

1. Rees & Jones’ Kierpark Devil In Disguise. Very smart upstanding red brindle. He has a beautiful head. Very masculine but still elegant. Very nice front assembly; well filled front, good return of upper arm and lay of shoulders. Super profile mover, holding his topline. Good fore and aft although slightly wide behind.

2. Murton’s Cyangrange Carpe Diem. A lovely elegant, quality dog, good for size and overall balance. He was also a very good mover. Just preferred the return of upper arm and depth of chest of the winner.

3. Martin’s Crosscop Waterloo

PGD (3)

1. Morland’s Zoraden Master Baker. Fawn and white who is quality from head to tail. Ideal size and substance; masculine yet still elegant. The most fabulous coat and skin. Very smooth to go over. Front is well filled and shoulders correctly placed. Very nice topline. Well muscled quarters used to his advantage on the move; driving well. Accurate on the up and back.

2. Blenkarn’s Crosscop Happy Valley of Hareghyll. Fawn and white Parti who shares many of the virtues of 1. Lovely type and quality with good curves. Adequate return of upper arm although would prefer a little more which would allow him to move with more reach.

3. Hope’s Demerlay On A Promise

MLD (11, 1a)

A very mixed class in terms of both type and quality.

1. Barkas’ Citycroft Line of Duty. Fawn of super quality. Although slightly taller than my ideal he is so elegant and balanced. The best of fronts; fill, upper arm and shoulder. Very attractive head. Gorgeous coat and skin. Very smooth to go over. Ideal muscle tone. He is an excellent mover viewed from any angle.

2. Newton’s Nevedith Hi Jack. Blue brindle, very different to first being more compact in body. Lovely curves, very good depth of chest and tuck up. Moderate rear angulation. He was another very good mover; both in profile and fore and aft.

3. Searle & Rawlinson’s Reffton Tibalt at Whipsearle JW

LD (15, 5a)

1. Perkins & Van der Schaaf’s Silkridge Black Caviar. I just loved him. He has everything I was looking for in a whippet male. Elegance and quality personified. Spot on for size and overall balance. He has such a fabulous topline that is sadly lacking in many. Smooth and curvy throughout from his well angulated front, good depth of chest and the cleanest of shoulders. Perfectly proportioned in body. Moderate and well muscled rear quarters, which he used to move around the ring effortlessly; never losing his topline. He was foot perfect on the up and back. A real show man. Delighted to award him his first CC and see him go BIS on the referees decision. He will make a very worthy champion.

2. Richards’ Richclass From Here On Out. Masculine fawn dog of good size who is slightly more compact but still presents a balanced picture. Good depth of chest, layback of shoulder and topline. Moderate hind angulation. An impressive mover. Presented in excellent condition.

3. Sharkey’s Whipsperrin Fire Cracker

OD (8)

An excellent class.

1. Yacoby-Wright’s Ch Cobyco Catch Your Eye. Beautiful fawn male who is so full of quality and breed type. A perfect combination of masculine strength and elegance. he has the very best of shoulders and is so smooth under the hand, not a lump or bump to be found. The very best of coat and skin. Super topline and overall balance. Very well muscled but not overdone in any way. Equally as impressive on the move; he is so sound and moves with ease in profile. RCC and RBIS.

2. Winkley-Balmer & Poole’s Ch Edenwhip Can I Be Him. Another fawn of fantastic type, balance and quality. Very good for size and bone. Excellent front angulation, with corresponding rear quarters. Moved out very well especially in profile. Preferred the slightly cleaner front action of 1.

3. Jones’ Jothryn Johnny Be Good JW

Special Open Black or Blue (2)

1. Bowsher’s Silkridge In Black and White

2. Tyson’s Starceylon Dancing Master JW. A quality dog of good size and substance. Balanced and elegant. Moved out well in profile just rather close behind today.
