Darlington Dog Show Society Ltd
I would like to thank my stewards for their efficient assistance throughout the day, which
was greatly appreciated.I must note that it was disappointing to find at least 24 dogs/
bitches exhibiting mouth faults. In some cases, the tips of the lower canines had been
removed, while in others, the lower canines were either pressing into the gums or, in
some instances, positioned inside the mouth. This is a concerning trend and one that
deserves attention. There was also a return to shorter muzzles in some exhibits, which
detracted from the overall picture.Despite these concerns, I was pleased with my
winning dogs/bitches, who demonstrated the qualities I was looking for and breed type.
VD (3,1)
1st Manito & Arntzen’s CH CATSTAFF’S USED TO (Nor).
Younger Veteran dog in cracking condition and very good overall shape. Strong, well-
developed head with good strength and substance to the foreface, giving a pleasing
overall expression. Strong shoulder, good straight front and a level topline carried
through to good, well-muscled rear quarters. Good overall balance and construction,
and moved well with a steady, purposeful action. A very pleasing veteran who has
clearly been well maintained and presented in excellent condition.
2nd Preston’s TILLCARR FIRE STARTER JW.
Bigger-set dog with a strong, substantial head and good foreface. Good overall strength
and substance, with strong rear quarters and the ability to hold a good, level topline.
Well made through the body with plenty of bone and substance. Unfortunately didn’t
seem to be performance to his full potential today.

The star of the show. This dog was everything I hoped to see and more. A powerful, fit-

head, deep with the correct ratio of foreface to skull, strong muzzle of good length, neat
ears, clean lips and well-set, round eyes, giving a superb expression. Lovely neck and
shoulders leading into a strong, level topline. Good rib and excellent quarters, giving
him a powerful and balanced outline.Movement was a real highlight for me – powerful,
free and with lovely parallel action. He carried himself extremely well and maintained his
shape both standing and moving.Pleased and proud to award him the CC and Best of
Breed.
It was a real pleasure to watch him perform in the Group, where he did the breed proud.
The Group judge’s critique is far more elegant than anything I could write, but it was
wonderful to see such a quality Staffordshire Bull Terrier representing the breed so well.
