Rhodesian Ridgebacks

Thanks to the committee of SKC for the invitation to judge Rhodesian Ridgebacks at their 2026 General Championship Show, I had been looking forward to my first appointment and was delighted with my entry and would like to thank every exhibitor for their time, travel and expense in allowing me the privilege of judging your wonderful hounds. I thoroughly enjoyed my day.

I have spent years watching our beautiful breed, especially movement, I was looking for balance and good proportions. I found the overall quality of my winners to be very good, others placed, could, on another day, considering how cold it was, gone better. I feel the bitches are stronger; however, there are some exciting youngsters in the males to watch out for. All had correct, complete indentation; I will not mention ridges individually as they were all acceptable. Temperaments were excellent.

1st HANSON & ADDERSLEY Tambyssa’s The Starman To Ilizulu a larger type, light wheaten baby of 8 months, well bodied with plenty of bone. Good head with good eye shape and colour, length of neck into sloping shoulders, well ribbed, straight legs, good chest, level back, moved ok

1st NEVISON Bikquest Helios Sunreacher dark wheaten 16 mth dark wheaten, good head, round dark eyes, ears set high, muscular neck into shoulder lay, elbows tight, sprung ribs, would prefer more bend in stifle, good feet, moved well.

YEARLING DOG (1)

1st HURN Kwanza El Faiyum At Matikiridge (IMP NLD) JW handsome wheaten 22 mths, clean outline, head good length, correct eye shape and colour, ears set high, well arched neck, into a good lay of shoulder, nice infill which needs to develop, good depth of chest, strong forelegs, elbows close, good body length, topline level with slight rise over loin, sprung ribs, well bent stifles, hocks let down, tight feet, free active movement. Still a youngster and will improve further. Pleased to award him RDCC

1st STRAUJA & PRICE Chioke For Zeri By Ridgelove JW (IMP SVK) 2yr wheaten, clean outline, nice head free from wrinkle, round, dark eyes, good neck length into sloping shoulders, ribs well sprung, nice length, level topline, good stifles and hocks, round feet, moved with drive.

2nd JOLLY Priorpark William Wallace For Clanbruachan JW 2 ½ yr wheaten nice profile and shape, good head length, round eyes and colour, strong neck blending into well laid shoulders, nice depth of chest, elbows held close, well sprung ribs, powerful back, topline held on move, good stifles and hocks, tight feet, just preferred the movement of 1 today .

2nd DENNIS Priorpark Pragmatist 2 ½ wheaten boy, correct head proportions, eye shape and colour, well ribbed, level topline, good stifles and hocks, good feet, just preferred length and movement of 1

1St PEARCE Ch Kinyemi Song Of Serengeti Sepiwi Sekayi For Msingi JW (IMP DNK) Another handsome 22 months quality wheaten dog, good length of head, free from wrinkle, good stop, dark, round eyes, powerful muzzle, ears carried close to head, muscular neck, sloping shoulders, straight forelegs , elbows close to body, chest not too wide, moderately sprung ribs, powerful back, strong loin with slight rise, good turn of stifle, hocks well let down, compact feet, forward straight movement. Another very nice boy, who I am sure, will improve further with age. Could not deny him the DCC
