COLLIE CLUB OF WALES CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

Smooth Collies

What a fabulous entry of smooths I had and spoilt for choice in some classes. I noticed some fuller eyes and shorter backs creeping in and I was disappointed at how many had dirty canines. Teeth are my bugbear. Apart from that, all were well presented, had harsh coats and great temperaments.

BABY PUPPY D/B(3,1) – Two exuberant and promising puppies met me in this class. 1 Russell & Richardson’s BLAMORDER STRIKING STEEL VIA KOCZKODAN. 4mth b/m b. A real sweetheart. Lovely clear blue coat. Wedge head with dark, obliquely set eyes, well filled foreface and correctly tipped ears. Correct bite. Good front assembly with tight oval feet. Level topline and nice long tail. Confident on the move and showed well for her handler. 2 Glover’s BLAMORDER DEAL OR NO DEAL. 4mth tri d. brother to 1 and many of the same attributes. Striking jet black coat with rich tan. Very happy young man, well off for bone. Lovely wedge head with dark eye, struggling a bit to keep right ear up at the minute. He has a good forechest and depth to ribs and a better length of neck than his sister. Super long, well carried tail.

SYD(4,1) – 1 Young’s WYNELE ACE OF SPADES. 13mth tri d. This young lad has a balanced head, well set dark eye and good fill of foreface. Correctly tipped ears and good placement. Would prefer more underjaw. Excellent tan markings. Forelegs are straight and muscular. He has a good length of neck, well sprung ribs and good length of back. Best shoulder placement in the class. Tail carried well on the move. 2 Leavesley & Richardson’s LIZONI MODRY FANTASIE. 17mth b/m d. This boy is a nice colour. He has a correct earset and tipping and expressive dark eyes. His strong neck flows in to good length of back giving a pleasant outline. Straighter in shoulder than 1. Muscular thighs and a long tail. He moved out well but was crossing a bit in front. 3 Lee’s BLAMORDER THE SURREALIST. He is a bit fuller in eye and ears could be tighter. He has a pleasing outline and good angulations front and rear, which showed in his movement.

PGD(1,0) – 1 Seager’s BLAMORDER SCALE FORCE WITH FREEJACK. 5 yrs tri d. A masculine dog, full of energy and there’s a lot of him. He has a jet black coat and great temperament. Balanced in head but wider in skull than I prefer. Rounded muzzle, well filled foreface, kind eye and using his ears well. He has a strong neck in to good lay of shoulder and good depth to ribs. Good bone and tight, oval feet. Muscular thighs with good bend of stifle. He moved with good reach and firm top line.

LD(3,0) – 1 Metcalf’s KOCZKODAN WELL I NEVER. 3 yrs tri d. This boy has a good headpiece and alert expression. Dark, well placed eyes and a good earset, with correct tipping. Enough underjaw. He has ample forechest and a strong neck of good length in to good length of back. His well bent stifles and parallel hocks made sure he held it together better on the move. 2 Thomas & Lusty’s BLAMORDER SIDE HUSTLE WITH MOURNEBRAKE JW. 2 yrs tri d. Striking tricolour lad with rich tan markings. He has a masculine head with almond shaped eye and alert expression. Correct bite but I would prefer more underjaw. He is a touch deep in skull but has correct ear tipping and carriage. Strong neck in to well laid shoulders. Balanced body, well sprung ribs and muscled thighs. Well let down hocks. Moved a little wide at the rear. 3 Leavesley’s LIZONI LONE RANGER. 3 yrs d. Balanced head with nice eye and expression greets you with this boy. Ears are used well. Shorter in back than I prefer but a good front. Well angulated rear and moved with drive.

OD(5,1) – Well, I really was spoiled with this class of quality young lads. Different sizes and shapes but all appealed in outline and showing prowess. 1 Hayward & Norman’s CH WYNELE DOUBLE TROUBLE AT FOXEARTH. 2.5 yrs s/w d. As the standard requires this young lad stands with dignity. I liked his overall shape and balance and the size that some are lacking. For me the best head of the class. A clean wedge with dreamy almond shaped eyes giving that intelligent, alert expression. Well set and tipped ears. He has good fill of foreface with slight stop and rounded muzzle. Good reach of neck in to correct sloping shoulder. Firm topline and rise over loin in to correct tail carriage. He has excellent front and rear angulations giving a steady, efficient side gait. Would like a bit more muscle on his thighs to strengthen his rear movement, but couldn’t be outshone today. BD/BOB and heard later he went BIS. 2 Seager’s BLAMORDER MAGIC MAKER WITH FREEJACK JW. 3.5 yrs s/w d. Upstanding rich sable lad who is all male and has really grown in to himself. Another with good length to skull giving alert expression. He has obliquely set almond eyes, good dentition and lightly tipped, well set ears. Strong, arched neck in to good lay of shoulder. He has a well developed forechest and a good spring of ribs. Correct length of back to height and correct tail set. Excellent conformation. Muscled thighs and powerful mover. Effortless side gait and best rear movement. RBD. 3 Wensley’s CH/INT/MULTI/CH CONSTELLA HAZY COSMIC JIVE JW. Tri d. Well built, masculine boy with good angulations all round. He has a nice headpiece with kind expression and good earset. Would prefer more size to him. Good reach on the move. 4 Sewell’s CH WYNELE STRIKE IT RICH TO LEWARNE JW. Tri d. One I have done well before. He has a masculine head. Ears nicely tipped with dark eyes and sweet expression. Long neck. Seemed a little dipped in topline today.

VD(1,0) – 1 Lusty’s CH/AM/CAN GCH CARDROSS RED DIRT ROAD TO BLAMORDER VW. Wow! Couldn’t believe this sable boy is 11 years young. A big lad, heavier set but outpaced some of the youngsters. A well balanced head with kind eye and good ear carriage, although they are going a bit pricked now. Good underjaw. Strong neck in to well angulated shoulder and well sprung ribs. He has a firm topline and good strong hocks enabling him to power round the ring. BVD/BVIB.

SYB(3,0) – 1 Jerett’s COLDELEE BUSY BEIN FABULOUS. 17mth s/w b. One I have judged before and her balanced outline still appeals. A quality bitch she is very feminine, but I wouldn’t want her any finer. She has the correct wedge head with clean cheeks, well placed, dark eyes and correctly set ears. I would like a touch more underjaw. Very attentive to handler. Ample forechest and straight front. She is elegant in neck sweeping in to a well laid shoulder. Good length of back, rise over loin and muscled thighs. Good bend of stifle enabling her to cover the ground efficiently. Well presented. RBB. 2 Wensley’s BLAMORDER STARSTRUCK BY VERSATILIS JW. 19mth s/w b. Rich sable girl with a clean head and a lovely dark eye giving a soft expression. Well placed and used ears. Long arched neck in to good lay of shoulders. Back a touch too long for me. She has good angulations front and rear and strong, parallel hocks. Effortless movement covering the ground efficiently with a long stride. 3 Thomas’ BLAMORDER BUTTER SIDE DOWN AT MOURNEBRAKE. 9 mth tri b. Sweet feminine girl. She has a balanced head which needs to fill out, dark eyes and well placed ears. A little straight in shoulder but good neck into level topline. Good length to height ratio. Long tail and strong rear movement. BPB/BPIB.

PGB(4,1) – 1 Jerett’s COLDELEE BUSY BEIN FABULOUS. as SYB. 2 Jefford & Rixon’s BRECKAMORE’S EYE CATCHER FOR WIZZIZZ. 20mth tri b. This feminine girl presents a lovely outline and has a striking black coat. Balanced wedge head with well placed, dark eyes. She has well tipped ears which could be a touch tighter and I would like more underjaw. Good reach of neck and firm topline. Tight arched toes. Good tailset and strong rear movement. 3 Thomas’ BLAMORDER BUTTER SIDE DOWN AT MOURNEBRAKE. as SYB.

LB(7,4) – 1 Rundle’s SHULUNE IMPERIAL BONNY BLU. b/m b. just shy of 3 yrs. This young lady presents a super outline and I thought she might be my best bitch. In the challenge I just preferred the expression of the other two, but it was a deliberation. Elegant girl of clear blue colouring with larger than desirable black patch. She has a balanced head with good fill of foreface and correct stop. Well placed ears which are constantly used. Lovely dark eyes that were slightly fuller for me. She has a good forechest and depth of ribcage. Firm topline into slight rise over loin and well set tail. Her movement is effortless and she has good reach in profile. 2 Davies-Brown’s BLAMORDER I DREAMED A DREAM AT WYSTRY JW. 2yrs tri b. Lovely tan markings complement this girl’s black coat. She has a correct wedge head with dark, well placed eyes. Ears are finely tipped and could be tighter. Her legs are straight and she has good arched feet. Nice outline and excellent tail length. She moved steady but needs to firm up in rear. 3 Morgan’s LIZONI QUE SERA SERA. 2.5yrs tri b. This girl has a feminine wedge-shaped head with dark, well placed eyes. Ears are a little wide and barely tipping. She has a good front assembly and ample neck. Good bend of stifle. Best tail length of the day!

OB(5,1) – Another super class where you wish you’d had more red cards. All quality ladies who were presented and shown to perfection. 1 Benton’s CH BLAMORDER DOUBLE OR QUITS OF OAKESTELLE JW. 2yrs b/m b. This girl always draws your eye and demands attention. Lovely clear blue coat with correct black marbling. She has a feminine head with clean cheeks and correct stop. Her dark, well placed eyes never drift far from her handler. Good forechest and depth to ribcage. I feel her markings give her the appearance of a straighter shoulder and she needs to be handled to feel it is correctly laid. Her ears are well tipped with the right one occasionally dipping and I would like a bit more underjaw, being picky. She has good angulations front and rear, well sprung ribs and is well muscled throughout. Maybe a touch more length of back. She has well bent stifles and a correctly set tail of good length. Her short, strong hocks give her the power to cover the ground with reach and drive. BB/RBOB and later RBIS. 2 Holmes & Lusty’s CH BLAMORDER MAKERS MARK JW. Almost 4yrs s/w b. A well made, rich sable girl with a quality head that could be more feminine for me. She has dark, obliquely set eyes with a correct bite and good fill of foreface. She has a well arched neck in to a good length of back with a strong topline and muscular thighs. Powerful on the move with good tail carriage. She could definitely go all day. 3 Jerrett’s CH COLDELEE ETERNAL SUNSHINE JW. 4yrs s/w b. Lovely wedge head and dreamy expression. Dark almond shaped, well placed eyes and correctly placed ears which she used constantly. Good reach of neck and firm topline but would prefer more length to back. Good depth of chest and balanced on the move. 4 Richardson’s LIZONI VA VA VOOM. 5yrs tri b. A sweet feminine girl. Fuller in eye for me but a good overall shape. Good angulations and correct harsh coat.

VB(6,3) – Three quality bitches here that could outpace some of the youngsters. 1 Richardson’s KOCZKODAN SWEET DREAMS OF LIZONI. 7yrs tri b. She appealed to me straight away. She has a balanced, wedge-shaped head with almond shaped eyes, which I would prefer to be darker. Well filled foreface, correct stop and well placed and used ears. She has a muscular neck and deep chest. She has well bent stifles and short hocks giving good reach and drive in profile. BVB. 2 Benton’s CH OAKESTELLE ARTEMIS ShCEx VW. 9yrs b/m b. Not showing her age and a great showgirl. She has a correct wedge-shaped head with obliquely set, dark eyes and good ear carriage, giving a knowing expression. I would prefer more underjaw. Her long arched neck runs in to a firm topline. Well muscled thighs and correctly set tail. Her correct front and rear angulations produce a long, effortless stride. Just felt she was carrying extra weight today. 3 Sweeney & Lusty’s CH BLAMORDER DO QUITE NICELY AW(S). 7yrs b/m b. Her colour is going a shade darker. She has nice shaped and sized eyes giving a kind expression. Well rounded muzzle and correct stop. Her ears are set correctly but she was a bit reluctant to use them. Firm neck and deep chest. Everything in proportion and effortless mover. Just didn’t look like she wanted to be here today.
