Welsh Kennel Club

Breed: Irish Wolfhound

Subject: Welsh Kennel Club 2026. IRISH WOLFHOUNDS

Post Graduate Dog . 1

1st: Connor's HYDEBECK ETERNAL LOVE, Well grown 2 ½ yrs grey, handsome , masculine head, nice expression, correct ears and set. Good length of neck into nice layback of shoulder and upperarm. Sound front with good forechest, depth and length. Well ribbed back with strong loin and correct topline. Nice fallaway , tail , set and carriage. Unfortunately not quite together moving behind today but good side movement.

Open Dog . 4 (2 abs)

1st: Tebbutt's CH. CAREDIG MAFIOSO, Superb ,mature , nearly 4 yrs hound who I have placed very well in the past and he is still such a special boy , he has all the essentials and oozes type and quality. No hesitation in giving him the CC, although the bitch ran him hard for BOB he moved just enough to win. CC and BOB

2nd: Spry's CH. KILLOUGHERY TOUCHSTONE. Tall , very handsome grey brindle who has a lot to like about him and apparently the breeds newest Champion, many congratulations. Elegant but masculine head, nice expression but I do like a slightly darker eye, good ears and set. Sound front and rear with correct feet, great depth, length and well ribbed back. Nicely bodied with good topline and outline. A little more elegant than above and a different style, I liked his overall balance . Not quite the hind drive of above but a very nice hound. Res CC

Veteran D or B . 1

1st: Stirling's CLANLILY DIAMOND DUST, Just 8 yrs grey, grand old lady who was in great form and obviously enjoying the day. She has excellent overall conformation with a pretty feminine head and dark eye, good ears and set. Looked good standing with all the right angles front and rear, kept her topline at all times, just looked her age abit on the move. Best Veteran.

Puppy Bitch. 3 (1abs)

1st: Spry's KILLOUGHERY ECLIPSE, Nearly 11 mths red/brindle. Quite mature with alot of style and interested to see her sire is my Res CC winner and she has a lot of his qualities. Excellent front and hind co-ordination and a little more together on the move than her classmate. A little wary of the tent today but soon settled .Well bodied and sound throughout. Best Puppy.

2nd: Sumner's DUKESARUM CAIOMHE, Upstanding , tall 9 mths dark brindle, excellent type but still very rangy and immature, longer cast and not the topline of winner today but she is going to be a slow maturer, so has time on her side. Excellent front reach and hind drive. Well bodied with great depth , bone and correct feet. Has great presence.

Junior B . 3 (1abs)

1st: Stirling's ERSEBRAYER MOONSHINE FOR CLANLILY, 15 mths light grey brindle, pretty head and expression, good ears and set. Excellent overall conformation and balance with excellent front and hind co-ordination. Correct outline and topline with nice fallaway, tail, set and carriage. Good feet. Striking youngster who was considered in the challenge but still immature amongst the adults. Won this class with ease.

2nd: Tebbutt's HONORIS CAREDIG DELLA BASSA PAVESE (IMP ITA), Also 15 mths but a different style to winner ,dark brindle who is smaller and shorter coupled. She is heavier throughout and not the elegance overall or on the move. In good condition hard muscular condition. Just not my style.

Post Graduate B.1

1st: Harmer's DUKESARUM FIYA OF BALLANROO, 3 ½ yrs grey, very nice head and dark eye, ears could be a bit smaller but she has great length of neck into well laid shoulders, plenty of forechest and depth, well bodied with correct length and topline. Adequate hind angulation, she is sound front and rear but not quite the drive behind of her two litter sisters in the following classes, just lacked confidence moving away and I am sure the flapping tent was again the cause! Good overall balance. Three excellent siblings.

Limit B. 4 (1abs)

1st: Sumner's DUKESARUM EVIE, 3 ½ grey brindle, tall, well constructed and feminine throughout. Long, pretty head with lovely dark eyes, good ears and set. When I last judged her she won a good Yearling class and she has blossomed into a very nice hound. She is well bodied and a sound , easy mover. Well handled in the challenge by her young handler, just not as finished as her litter sister who beat her for the CC today but she won a well deserved Res CC.

2nd: Pinkney's HYDEBECK DREAM TO LOVE JW, 2 ½ yrs cream, well balanced and very mature , slightly shorter coupled than above and another who I have judged well as a 7mths puppy. She has great style and presence, typical head with correct dark ears. Not as elegant on the move today but a little less weight would definitely make a difference. Lovely bitch who was unlucky to meet above.

3rd: Stirling's RYSHERON'S AMERICAN HOPE FOR CLANLILY.

Open B. 3 (2abs)

1st: Sumner's CH. DUKESARUM TALLULAH, 3 ½ yrs dark brindle, elegant ,sylish litter sister to 2 previous class winners. More mature and a little more settled in every way. I love her head and dark eye, great neck flows into well laid shoulders and good layback of upperarm. Powerful front with good forechest, bone and correct feet. Great depth and correctly ribbed back with strong loin. Correct topline and tuck- up, , excellent sweep of hinquarters with low set hocks, nice width and slope of fallaway with good tail, set and carriage. I really liked her and interested to see that I awarded her litter brother the CC when I previously judged, what a lovely litter!! Pressed hard for BOB after winning the bitch CC and a difficult decision as both are great examples of the breed.CC
