LAGOTTO ROMAGNOLO
Delighted to be invited to award CCs in this lovely breed so soon after they have been given CC status. I last judged them at Richmond in 2023, and am pleased to say the depth of quality continues to improve. I found no incorrect mouths, temperament was excellent, and some very correct coats, together with a rustic, non-exaggerated presentation, were on display. I also saw an improvement in hind movement. Many thanks to all the exhibitors for the lovely entry and your sportsmanship in accepting my decisions. Hopefully we will not be waiting much longer for the first UK show champions to be crowned in Lagotti!
PD 4(0) Nice class. Phillips’ Arcticbreeze City Light. 9 month brown/white, well-proportioned head and eye. Square in outline. Correctly narrow in front, good bone and feet. Withers above croup and topline held on the move and I liked his tailset. Very sound and free movement. Good coat developing and nice face furnishings already. Thought him most promising. BP.
2 Cooper’s Gameglow Double Dare. 7 months brown roan. Good head balance between muzzle and skull. Large protruding nose. Good length of leg, sloping pasterns, depth of chest developing, well bent quarters in relation to front angulation. but looking slightly longer cast at the moment.
3 Bishop/Norbury’s Bedeslea Fifth of November.

1 Whittick’s Allsong Jelly Bean. 14 months brown roan. Liked his size and head to body proportions. Good length to legs. Correct topline without sloping. Would have preferred a slightly lower tail set. Well distributed curls.
PGD 3(2) 1 Webb/Ferguson’s Tigre Di Casa Ghini. 2 year brown/white male, good overall in balance of legs to body length. Nice head and strong blunt jaw, protruding nose and well-furnished face. Depth of chest to elbows. Would prefer less slope to croup. Today on the move was giving his handler a hard time and tending to crab.

1 Whitworth’s Mad Max Madiba of Freworth JW (imp IT). Really liked this white/orange male, not quite 3 years old. Presented well with a square outline and plenty of ‘daylight’ underneath. Handsome head, correct divergent planes, eye colour and pigment. Short strong neck, narrow in front, correct topline and tailset. Straight bone with enough substance and sloping pasterns. Coat woolly in texture with undercoat. Moved with a free, even stride. RDCC.
2 Willott/Pragg’s Arcticbreeze On Vacation 3 year old brown roan with a rustic appearance. Excellent head proportions, and expression, short oval neck, good depth of chest and angulation front to rear correct. Dense coat with good coverage and ringlets. Moved well holding topline. Just a little shorter in leg than class winner but a nice dog.
3 Bond/Rawlinson’s Spencer Tracy
OD 4(0)1 Ferguson’s Truffalusa November Moon from Mizani. 5 year old brown roan in his prime. Have previously judged, liked, and not changed my opinion. Classic outline, presented in excellent crisp coat and condition without any exaggeration. Square outline, handsome head and expression, correct shorter muzzle to skull ratio. Moved freely with ease in profile, but in the final challenge just not quite as precise behind as the others, but splitting hairs. The sire of my Bitch CC and Res CC, as well as some other promising stock seen today. Should get his title soon.
2 Bond/Zdunic Sinkovik’s Multi Ch. Kan Trace Emit Remmus (imp). 3.5 year old brown. Excellent head properties, expression and earset. Correct withers to croup line. Depth to elbows, but would prefer a slightly narrower chest. Nice rounded feet. Good tail length and carriage. Covered in crisp ringlets, but feel longer coat on stifle could be shortened for better definition. Moved with style in profile.
3 Whittick’s Arcticbreeze Turbulence at Allsong.

1 Ferguson’s Dario Della Caveja. 7 year old brown in his prime. Full of breed type, square outline, robust appearance. Skull to muzzle proportions good, expressive eyes and well-furnished face. Liked his pigment and eyes. Correct sloping pasterns, rounded compact feet, and length of leg. Strong body with well sprung ribs. Slightly more angulation in rear, used well to drive from behind on the move. In profile, smooth and easy stride. Shown in excellent coat with good curl distribution, rustic appearance, and without exaggeration. In the challenge just had the edge today on the younger dogs with his so sound parallel hind action. Quality dog and clearly an excellent producer as well. DCC & BV.

1 Lillicrap’s Bedeslea Firecracker at Princhetts. BSpB. Just 6 months, brown/white. Very feminine, sweet head and expression. Correct nose and eye. Straight front with good leg length and sloping pasterns. Would like more angulation in rear, but has plenty of time. Wasn’t inclined to keep her paws on the ground today, so couldn’t assess her movement. Plenty of time for that.

1 Ferguson’s Bedeslea Bombshell to Mizani. All litter sisters here, 6 month orange with so much to like. Excellent balance of body already. Liked her head, expression, and correct triangular ears. Narrow in front with good feet. Spring of rib and depth developing. Enough angulation in rear and moved very soundly for one so young. Should do well.
2 Norbury/Bishop’s Bedeslea Remember Remember. Brown roan and many of the same comments apply, slightly smaller and correct square outline. Short arched neck and topline correct with height of withers slightly above croup. Moved well for such a baby. Cracking litter.
3 Lillicrap’s Bedeslea Firecracker at Princhetts.

1 John’s Curlycruz Wild Flower at Frommesbeck. All at different stages of development in this class. Just out of puppy, 13 months brown/white. Feminine head. Liked her overall balance and outline, with good length of leg obvious. Depth of chest still coming and would like a little more angulation in rear. Moved well holding her topline.
2 Dickenson’s Shelanio In The Mood (Bc1). Another brown/white, 17 months. Head shape correct with nice expression and good eye colour. Protruding nose with wide nostrils. Ears could be set a bit higher. Good robust body and moved ok.
3 Cox’s Amadar Wake Up Little Susie.
PGB 3(0)
1 Bishop’s Bedeslea Prada Linea Rossa. Very typy 2 year old brown roan with the best of coats, formed ringlets and correct texture. Short and strong in muzzle, slight stop. Well angulated front and rear with a square outline. Short strong in neck, narrow in front, sloping pasterns. Good depth of chest. Held her topline on the move with correct tailset. RBCC
2 Mort’s Arcticbreeze Top Secret. 3 year old brown/white bitch. Well-furnished typical head with lovely expression, high ear set and slight stop. Strong jaws. Square outline and good length of leg. Would like a little more length of upper arm, but rear angulation good. Looked well in the profile on the move, driving behind, but not as clean coming towards me as class winner.
3 John’s Curlycuz Wild Flower at Frommesbeck.

1 Norbury’s Bedeslea Pradasphere JW. Litter sister to my PG winner, and you can see the similarities. Such quality and type. Brown roan presenting the best of outlines, so balanced. Classic head with correct proportions, feminine expression, correct ear shape and set, protruding wide nostrils. Short strong neck arched into correctly laid shoulders, narrow front, good bone in legs and compact round feet. Depth of chest to elbows and well sprung in ribs. The best of toplines and tailset, wide in loin and strong in hocks. Moved freely and smoothly round the ring and so sound away and back. To top all this, presented in true rustic style, with excellent woolly coat with well-formed ringlets. Only 2 years old, what a future she has ahead of her, made my day. BCC & BOB.
2 Roberts’ Byphar Havana Club JW Ir Jun Ch. Quality bitch 21 month old brown roan. Feminine head with nice expression, eye and large ears well set. Strong arched neck into shoulders, wide loins and well angulated behind. Slightly sloping croup and tail used well on the move. A little longer cast and not quite the coat today of 1st .
3 Blunden’s Mikette Autumnal Equinox.
OB 3(0)
1 Mort’s Arcticbreeze Outbraker. 5 year old brown/white, presents a nice outline, well-furnished head, shorter in muzzle, well set and shaped ears, nice arch to wide neck, depth of chest to elbows, a little long in loin. Topline straight from higher withers to croup, good length of tail, but tailset a bit high. Good coat with evident curls. Moved and handled well.
2 Stephenson’s Made Chianti for Timtaurn JW. Not quite 3 yet brown roan. Very feminine and correct in size. Such a sweet expression and head with correct proportions muzzle to skull. Angulation in front good, excellent feet. Well up on legs. Depth through chest to elbows, topline correct and preferred her tailset. Wide loins and well bent stifles, but not exaggerated. Moved very well, just giving a little away on maturity, her day will come.
3 Whittick’s Allsong Nuova Luna.

1 Gilder/Blunden’s Fullforge Free Horizons Con Mikette ShCM. 10.5 year old brown/white still showing well. Feminine head, well-furnished and looking large in proportion to body. Protruding nose with wide nostrils. Good depth to chest and straight bone to sloping pasterns. Quite heavily coated through neck area which tends to unbalance her shape. Moved freely, still enjoying her time out.
2 Whittick’s Moonreed Warbler at Allsong. 8 year old off white in excellent curl. So aptly named, quite the talker this one. Correct size and angulation. Sweet well-proportioned head. Moved out well but would prefer a less steep croup.
