Three Counties Agricultural Society

Breed: Bedlington Terrier

I had a lovely day spent judging quality Bedlingtons in the sunshine at this, one of my favourite shows.

My thanks go to the committee for the invitation and to the exhibitors—every one of whom was present—for accepting my decisions in such good spirit.

Puppy Bitch (2/0) – Two lovely puppy bitches, presented and handled well – I’m sure both will have bright futures.

1ST 2497 - Mickleview Lay Down Sally (Mrs E & Mr W Scott) – 9mnths blue. This young lady took my eye and impressed with her overall balance, lovely length of neck and excellent lay of shoulder, which showed in her light, springy gait. Correct topline, not overdone, and good low tailset, both held on the move. Beautiful, feminine head with excellent length and strength. Neat, thin ears and dark eye. Correct mouth. BP, and I was delighted to watch her take PG2.

2ND 2486 - Maevani Huntress of Spica (Ms J Fletcher) – 7mnths blue. Another super one who I liked very much – I just preferred the front construction of 1, but it was a very close decision. Lovely head with correct mouth and super, thin ears, well set. Very good hare foot, narrow horseshoe front and clean through the shoulder. Moved out well.

Junior Bitch (0)

Post Graduate Bitch (3/0)

1ST 2489 - Dunkeswell Pepper Dash (Miss S Long) – 3yrs blue. Took the class on her front construction – lovely long neck into good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Would prefer a little more depth of brisket to balance. Moderate rear angulation. Strong but feminine head with enough length, plenty of fill under the eye, clean cheeks and good depth of underjaw. Correct mouth. Neat, thin ears, held close to cheek. Moved out well.

2ND 2491 - Mickleview After Midnight by Tessarion (Mrs J & Mr R Lowe) – 19mnths blue. Smart girl with good body proportions – I just preferred the return of upper arm on 1. Plenty to like with good length of neck and lay of shoulder, correct topline and moderate rear angulation. Horseshoe front and good hare foot. Feminine head with the thinnest of ears, held well. Well-presented and handled.

3RD 2492 - Kentone Pearl Brimstone (Mrs S M Moore)

Open Bitch (3/0)

1ST 2487 - Janmark Dame Dame Dame (Miss M M Hanes) – 21mnths blue. This lovely girl took my eye as soon as she floated in the ring. Oozed quality and so well balanced. The best of fronts and a beautiful head flowed to a strong topline with correct rise over loin and excellent rear angulation, topped off with a low set tail, carried well on the move. Being picky, would prefer a shade more depth to brisket. Super, horseshoe front and good hare foot. Beautiful head with length, strength, clean cheeks and super, thin, filbert shaped, well-set ears. Good linty texture to coat with profuse silky topknot and very well presented. Moved around the ring with typical light and springy gait, true both ways and was the best mover today. This took her through to BB and ultimately edged her past dog to BOB.

2ND 2488 - Ratzwell Jolly Jubilee JW (Mrs C A Harris) –3yrs blue. Another smart girl with plenty to like. Good front and return of upper arm. Not quite the topline of 1 and a shade longer. Moderate rear angulation and good tailset. Feminine head with very good depth of muzzle, clean cheeks and plenty under the eye. Moved well. RBB

3RD 2493 - Woolytop Secret Wispa among Wallaroo JW (Mrs A R & Mr G Porter-Manning & Porter)
