Spaniel (English Springer)

Many thanks to the society for the invitation to judge at this beautiful showground, special thanks to my stewards Kevin & Wendy who kept everything running smoothly. Also, thanks to the exhibitors for a quality entry. I did find a variance in type, I was looking for a pleasing outline without exaggeration and was disappointed to find a few with excessive sloping toplines, also rear movement was a concern on some. On the positive side I found all showed great temperament and were in good muscular condition. Some very promising youngsters which is good for the future of the breed.

1ST 3232 - Chanangel Yorkshire Ale with Bethersden JW (Mr G & Mrs S Tolladay) this young dog appealed instantly on the stack, he is masculine without being coarse, super head and expression, lovely bone and feet, well-ribbed with strong loin and rear quarters and well let down hocks. He excels on the move, sound in all departments, he had the cleanest rear action of the day, presented in top condition I was delighted to award him the CC & BOB and thrilled to see him take G4 later in the day.

2ND 3225 - Eastriding Royal Gold (Mrs K Jenkinson) another top quality youngster, although not as mature as winner he has a lovely clean outline, pleasing head and eye, ample bone and body. Moved out well with a good stride, shown in lovely condition, well deserved RCC
