I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge at this well-run and well-organised show. The grounds were superb, the rings large and beautifully manicured. A huge thank you to the exhibitors. It was a very hot day, and it was a great honour and privilege to have the opportunity to judge your lovely dogs.

1ST 2829 - Stanegate Sweetest Thing at Shelseivad (Ms E & Mrs H Davies)
Full of fun, this 20-month-old dog is still very much in the adolescent stage, both in body and mind! However, all the qualities for maturity are clearly present. He is upstanding with strong bone structure. Pleasing, masculine head of good proportions, with length and strength to the foreface and nicely toned eyes. His body is beginning to mature, showing a decent ribcage and depth, a fraction longer in loin. His hindquarters are well angulated. On the move, he displays reach and drive, though his enthusiasm sometimes leads to a loss of topline. With time, everything will come together for him.

1ST 2824 - Nyllaup Oregon Sunstone (Mrs L A & Mr P Bradley)
Very smart 22-month-old dog with much to admire. He simply needs time to finish maturing, but I was very taken with him. He appeals for his overall size, stature, and presence. His head is nicely balanced, having the desired strength, complemented by refined chiselling. His almond-shaped, toning eyes add to his cheeky expression. He has a good length of neck and is developing well in forechest and rib, showing the right amount of width between well-boned forelegs. His topline is held firmly both standing and on the move. He moves purposefully, with positive footfall. I look forward to watching him blossom, considered him for top honours.
2ND 2836 - Blue Jewel’s Garvin (Imp Che) (Miss L Hewett)
Two-year-old dog, built on a larger frame but maintaining balanced proportions throughout. He has a well-balanced head of good strength and proportion, with a muzzle of pleasing length and chiselling beneath his lovely dark, almond-shaped eyes. His neck is moderate, with shoulders that could be a little more angulated, but he has sufficient depth to the brisket and a good spring of rib. He stands with a firm topline, though it tends to fall away slightly at the croup. Moves with a good side gait and is presented in a dense, well-curled coat.

Close decision between these three boys, all with fine virtues.
1ST 2837 - Sh Ch Fynder Reacher ShCEx (Ms L & Mr M Latheron & Trenchard)
Upstanding and mature five-year-old dog, who presented a striking picture on the stack. Built on a larger frame, he carries it well, being beautifully balanced and in proportion. He exudes strength and masculinity, yet displays a playful side that is so endearing of the breed. His head is handsome and well-proportioned, showing the desired strength without exaggeration, and is nicely chiselled below the eyes, which have a toning colour and a hint of mischief. He has a good length of neck leading to a deep brisket, barrel ribs, and well-filled forechest. He holds a firm, level topline both standing and on the move. His stifles are well bent, showing good width of thigh and low-set hocks. On the move, he is a powerhouse in profile, reaching forward and driving from the rear, though today he was not quite as tidy going away. His coat and condition are superb. DCC & BOS
2ND 2839 - Sh Ch Goldenacre Jubilee Lord of Leonardston (Mr D J & Mrs A C Smith)
Another upstanding dog approaching four years old, most appealing in outline and stature. He presents a smart, impressive figure with a lovely, happy, and outgoing demeanour. Handsome head, though a touch stronger in backskull and shorter in foreface, he has nicely toned eyes and a well-furnished topknot. His clean, well-proportioned neck flows smoothly into a firm, level topline and a well-set, well-carried tail. He shows good depth and spring of ribcage and stands on well-boned limbs. His side gait is lovely, exhibiting reach, drive, and the characteristic slight roll. He is a little close behind going away. His dense, crisp curls complete the picture. RDCC

1ST 2838 - Curlyco Cosmic Girl (Imp Fin) (Mr J Roberts)
Twelve-month-old bitch, initially a little unsure while standing in the noisy tent, but she came together beautifully on the move. She is very feminine, a little raw, but all the essentials are present. Her feminine head is pleasing, displaying good balance and proportions, eyes beginning to darken, and nice chiselling that adds refinement. She has a good length of neck leading to a level topline. She still needs to finish filling her frame, which will come with time. I liked her hindquarters, featuring a good bend of stifle and being short hock to heel. She is a happy, free mover, showing reach and drive.

1ST 2834 - Cuboglach Tufted Skipper of Babanoddraig (Miss J Hardy)
Three-year-old bitch with a touch more range to her outline, yet remains very feminine. She has a nicely balanced head, refined yet with strength, having the desired proportions, width to the backskull, a slight stop, dark almond-shaped eyes, and a typical topknot. Her neck is of good length, leading to a well-developed forechest and nicely sprung ribcage, loin is a fraction longer. She holds a firm topline leading to a well-set tail. Her hindquarters show good width of thigh and bend of stifle. She seemed affected by the heat today, lacking drive on the move, but displayed a clean front action. Shown in a coat with a good curl.

Superb bitches, both top class
1ST 2827 - Sh Ch Stanegate Standing Ovation (Mrs J L Carruthers)
Superb bitch approaching three years of age, presented in fabulous coat and condition. She exudes quality and breed type, so balanced, compact and unexaggerated, showing herself off with confidence and style. She has harmonious proportions, each part flowing seamlessly into the next. Her head is most appealing, displaying feminine strength throughout, with dark almond-shaped eyes and low-set ears framing her face beautifully. She has a good length of neck leading to well-placed shoulders, a super barrel ribcage, and depth carried well back to a short, strong loin. Her hindquarters are wide and nicely angulated with well-let-down hocks. On the move, she fulfilled every expectation and more, being such a free and positive mover with reach and drive, moving cleanly and truly while holding her outline. Her coat is dense, with crisp curls. She was an absolute delight. BCC & BOB & Gundog Group 2
2ND 2825 - Sh Ch Stanegate Stage Debut (ai) ShCEx (Mrs L A & Mr P Bradley)
Stunning six-year-old bitch, brimming with fine qualities and in close contention with the winner. She is slightly larger in build, yet remains very feminine and exemplifies breed type. Her head is lovely and well-balanced, with width to the backskull, strength and length in the foreface, a toning almond-shaped eye, and a beautiful topknot. She has a good length of neck that flows seamlessly into a well-held, firm topline with a correct tail set and carriage. Her body is well developed, showing ample forechest, deep brisket, and the desired barrel ribs. Her strong, wide hindquarters are used to great effect on the move, showing reach and drive, fractionally at times not as firm in her topline. Her movement is clean and true, fore and aft. Presented in a coat of dense, crisp curls. RBCC
