I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the officers and committee of the Bath Championship Show for inviting me to judge at their wonderful event. The showground is truly beautiful and exceptionally well maintained, with lovely-sized rings that allow the dogs to present themselves to their full advantage. My heartfelt appreciation also goes to every exhibitor for bringing such superb dogs—it was a genuine honour and a pleasure.

1ST 2582 - Afterglow Bang Tidy (Mrs B Edwards)
This seven-year-old black dog was beautifully presented in full coat, fit, balanced, and not overdone. His outline shows slight length in loin, yet he still presents a shapely and masculine figure. His dark, full eyes exude a gentle expression, and the smattering of grey enhances his distinguished appearance. He has a slightly arched neck leading into a good forechest and decent ribbing, though today he tended to level his topline at times. His tail is well set and well carried. Moving cleanly and with drive - BVD & BVIB.

1ST 2587 - Alibama That’s My Boy JW (Mr D K & Miss H Jennings & Bedding)
16-month-old buff dog displays a smart outline, with a compact and shapely profile that immediately draws attention. When standing, he shows off beautifully balanced body lines and proportions. His head is particularly handsome, featuring a nicely rounded backskull and a square, plush muzzle. His full, dark eyes radiate a gentle expression. Beneath his coat, he possesses plenty of substance, with a well-filled forechest, good depth to the ribcage, and a firm topline. He makes excellent use of his strong hindquarters, driving powerfully around the ring while maintaining his shape, adding an extra sparkle in the final challenge that earned him the RDCC.

1ST 2577 - Leader Line Stilish Melvin (Mrs Cl & Mrs S Bell & Siedler)
This black & white dog, nearing four years of age, impressed with his overall size and masculine presence. His head is well shaped, with pleasing rounding to the backskull and lovely dark eyes framed by low-set ears. He possesses a decent length of neck that flows smoothly into a firm topline and well-set tail. His forechest is well developed, with good spring to the ribcage, he is just a fraction longer in loin. The hindquarters offer a good bend of stifle and low-set hocks. Today, he moved with the cleanest action, showing drive.
2ND 2597 - Taramount Golden Ticket (Mrs S & Miss K Walden)
Four-year-old buff dog initially looked to be my winner in this class, but, unfortunately, he was unsettled on the move today. He presents a compact outline with excellent balance. His head is masculine, perhaps a shade stronger, with a lovely plush muzzle, good stop, and dark, expressive eyes. He boasts a good length of neck that flows into a firm topline, with a well-let-down brisket and muscular hindquarters. He was being a little distracted on the move today. He was presented in good coat and condition.

1ST 2583 - Moonmist I Spy Wilbur (Mrs B Edwards)
This stylish three-year-old black & tan dog presents a shapely outline when standing, elegant yet undeniably masculine. His head is well proportioned, with pleasing rounding to the backskull, a good stop, and a squared muzzle. He has the most soulful, slightly almond-shaped eyes, giving him a gentle, expressive look. He has a good length of neck that flows into a firm topline and well-set tail. His body is well developed throughout. On the move, he travels cleanly in all directions, occasionally levelling his topline, but always showing impressive drive. Presented in full bloom.
2ND 2599 - Partisky Rock Parti at Challeymead (Mr K & Mrs W Woolley)
Three-year-old chocolate & white dog shows pleasing balance when standing, though he appeared to lack the sparkle on the move. He has a masculine head, slightly strong but well proportioned, with good ratios and a toning eye. His neck is slightly arched, leading into a well-filled forechest and a well-sprung ribcage. His topline tended to be a little level, both when standing and on the move.

1ST 2590 - Sh Ch Nujax Happy Halloween (Mrs A & Mrs L Manser & Nelson)
This two-year-old chocolate & tan dog truly impressed me with his commanding presence, exuding both confidence and style in the ring. He exemplifies quality and breed type, presented in a superb coat and condition. When stacked, he displays a compact, shapely silhouette that immediately catches the eye. His head is particularly appealing, with a well-rounded backskull and a foreface of correct length, featuring lovely plushness. His eyes are full, beautifully toned, and slightly almond-shaped, enhanced by expressive tan markings on his eyebrows. His neck is of good length, flowing smoothly into a firm, sloping topline. It's a pleasure to get your hands under his coat and feel his sturdy, well-constructed body with well-sprung ribs and strong-boned limbs. His hindquarters are strong and well-angulated, showing good muscletone. Watching him move is a joy, his gait is fluid and effortless, a tendency to carry his tail a fraction higher, though this never detracts from his impressive, ground-covering action. Immaculately presented with his coat in full bloom and expertly handled, it was a delight to see him later win the gundog group. DCC & BOB & Group 1
2ND 2596 - Nld/bel/ger Ch Colorfull’s Easter Monday W21/24 (Mrs Bea Van Zanten-Dorland)
Super four-year-old black dog who looked a picture when standing, his glorious coat presented to absolute perfection. In profile, he is just a fraction longer but still maintains a masculine and shapely outline. His head is lovely, with a nicely rounded skull, correct length to the foreface, a good stop, and beautiful dark eyes that give the most melting expression. He possesses a good length of neck, a super fill-in of forechest, and impressive depth in brisket. He stands on well-boned limbs and uses his hindquarters to drive powerfully around the ring, though today not quite the precision of the winner. His coat and condition are first class. In the mix for top awards

1ST 2598 - Truly Yours Clear Magic for Taramount (Imp Dnk) (Mrs S & Miss K Walden)
Compact seven-year-old buff bitch, who impresses with her overall size and shape. Her head is well proportioned, featuring gentle rounding to the backskull, a good stop, low-set ears, and a nicely squared, plush muzzle. She is carrying a little extra weight over the shoulders, which makes her neck appear slightly shorter. She possesses good depth and fill to the forechest, well-sprung ribs, and is short coupled. She moved true, though did not fully show herself off today. Presented in a lovely coat.

Lovely class of youngsters
1ST 2579 - Americlass Macchiato with Almondsbury (Mrs G & Miss B Clay & Dummett)
This delightful black & tan bitch, just seven months old, commanded attention in the ring with her self-assured presence and showmanship. Though still very much a youngster with time to mature, she already presents a compact, shapely outline when standing. Her head is especially appealing, nicely balanced and feminine, with a plush muzzle, good stop, and dark, expressive eyes that sparkle with mischief. For her age, she shows promising development in rib and forechest and maintains a firm topline both standing and on the move. She strides out confidently, demonstrating a pleasing side gait. BPB & BPIB
2ND 2584 - Malricey Tina Burner (Mr R & Mr S & Mr S Grindey & Dyer & Whincup)
Another lovely youngster, this six-month-old black bitch strode out with impressive confidence. She displays beautiful elegance in her outline, complemented by a feminine, nicely balanced head, a well-finished muzzle, and dark, slightly almond-shaped eyes. Her reachy neck has a gentle arch, and she is developing well through the body, already showing good depth for her age. Her hindquarters reveal a good bend of stifle and low-set hocks. While her topline was not quite as firm as the winner's today, the two could have easily swapped places.

1ST 2580 - Cherdon Classic (Miss C Donaldson)
This very showy 17-month-old black bitch commanded attention in the ring, presenting herself to great advantage and looking immaculate. Her head is pretty and well-proportioned, with gentle rounding to the backskull, a defined stop, and a plush, well-finished muzzle that maintains feminine strength. She has a reachy neck with a slight arch, flowing smoothly into a firm, slightly sloping topline and a well-set, well-carried tail. Beneath her beautiful coat lies a dog of real substance throughout with deep and well-sprung ribs. She covers the ground with impressive reach and drive. She was presented in super coat and condition. RBCC
2ND 2586 - Alibama She’s A Peach (Mr D K & Miss H Jennings & Bedding)
I admired the outline of this 16-month-old buff bitch, she is lovely and compact in profile, combining sturdiness with elegance. She has a quality head with balanced proportions, nicely chiselled, a good stop, and a well-finished muzzle. Her dark eyes convey a gentle expression, which belies her cheeky attitude on the move. She boasts good spring to her ribcage, deep brisket, and a short, strong loin. Her hindquarters are strong with low-set hocks, giving powerful drive from behind. Felt she let herself down on the move today, coming a little wide towards me and throwing her front. Presented in good coat and condition

1ST 2578 - Jaclee High Society Americlass (Mrs G Clay)
Compact two-year-old black & tan bitch has the most feminine and balanced heads, nicely chiselled, yet retaining feminine strength. Her dark, well-shaped eyes give a kind and gentle expression. While I would prefer a little more length of neck for complete balance, she has a lovely spring to her ribcage and a well-let-down brisket, coupled with a short, strong loin. Her wide quarters feature a good bend of stifle and short hocks. She moved away with good width and parallel action behind, though her topline tended to level at times. Presented in full coat and in lovely condition.

1ST 2585 - Moonmist Twinkle Toes (Miss P A Iremonger)
This happy and outgoing three-year-old black & tan bitch presents a pleasing shape when standing, with an elegant outline and a graceful flow through her neck and topline. Her head is pretty, with a nicely rounded backskull, plush and well-finished muzzle, and dark eyes that convey a soft, gentle expression. She boasts a good length of neck with a slight arch, leading into a firm, slightly sloping topline when stood, though it sometimes levels out on the move. Beautifully turned out and in full bloom.

1ST 2591 - Sh Ch Nasailleen Ella Vaday (Mrs L & Mrs B Nelson & Bryant)
Three-year-old black bitch is the epitome of femininity and appeal, with every part flowing seamlessly into the next to create a truly eye-catching outline. She possesses a super head and expression, beautifully chiselled with a defined stop, plush muzzle, and those dark, alluring eyes. Her low-set ears frame her face perfectly. She has a good length of neck that flows smoothly into a firmly held topline. Well-developed throughout, she boasts a good forechest, well-let-down brisket, and stands on well-boned limbs. Her rear assembly is excellent, featuring short hocks that stand parallel. She moves across the ground with style, demonstrating impressive reach and drive. It was a very close contest for Best of Breed, but today her kennel mate had that extra joie de vivre to take the top spot. BCC & BOS
2ND 2594 - Kenoula No Regrets (Miss L & Miss R Sunter & Pinchen)
Happy and compact two-year-old black & tan bitch who has much to admire, though today she wasn't especially cooperative and didn't quite show herself to best advantage. She is ultra feminine, with a well-balanced head featuring good proportions, a defined stop, plush muzzle, and kind, dark eyes. Her neck is of good length, flowing into a firm, slightly sloping topline, with a well-sprung ribcage, nicely bent stifles, and short hock to heel with compact feet. She moved out cleanly but, unfortunately, lacked the sparkle today.
