Bracco Italiano Club

Breed: Bracco Italiano

Bracco Italiano Open Show

Having begun my journey in the show world some 14 years ago with the Bracco Italiano, it was a pleasure to revisit the breed in a judging capacity. Although I no longer exhibit them, I have continued to follow their development with keen interest.

The atmosphere at this show was particularly noteworthy. The encouragement, applause, and camaraderie amongst exhibitors created a warm and uplifting environment—something not often seen at shows today.

I was pleased with the overall quality of the entry; however, I did observe certain trends creeping into the breed that warrant attention. These included flatter toplines, a lack of substance, and a tendency towards longer coupling, often accompanied by less coordinated rear movement.

My sincere thanks to all exhibitors who entered under me and accepted my decisions sportingly. It was both an honour and a pleasure to judge.

Veteran Dog/Bitch

1st – Braccorion Quick Look Of Callaiscroft

Balanced, well-constructed male with good front and rear angulation. Strong bones and tight feet. Noble expression with good chiselling and correct ear placement. Moved with drive, maintaining a firm topline.

2nd – Tolriver Enzo At Owlspoint

Another balanced dog of good proportions with adequate muscle. Moved ok, though I would have preferred more reach in front.

Special Working Dog/Bitch

1st – Atos (Imp Ita)

Masculine, well-muscled dog in his prime. Good proportions, nice expression, and well-sprung ribs. Stands on straight, well-boned legs; feet could be tighter. Movement was ok.

2nd – Bracciano Never Too Late

Good head planes with correctly set eyes and correct ear placement. Moved ok.

Minor Puppy Dog

1st – Bracchini’s Absolutely Drama

Promising youngster with much to like. Excellent bone and substance with tight feet. Almost square, though slightly long in loin and mature for age. Moved freely with good reach and drive for one so young. One to watch. (BPIB)

2nd – Bracchini Burst Your Bubble For Corotine

Another good puppy who needs to grow into his head. Nice outline when stacked with good substance. Moved ok.

Puppy Dog

1st – Leo Del Valcor

Good head and expression with correct ear set. Still very young in body against the other puppies, some nice attributes, Moved well once settled.

Junior Dog

1st – Tito Saggio At Kingsoak Ex Libra’s (Imp NLD) Ld Jch NLD JW25

Good outline with balanced proportions. Chest still to develop, which should come with time. Moved soundly.

Post Graduate Dog

1st – Owlspoint Askin For Trouble

Good front assembly; would prefer more rear angulation. Straight legs with tight feet, held topline on the move.

2nd – Appassionata Belisario

Taller than preferred but covered the ground well with reach and drive.

Limit Dog

1st – Callaiscroft Esprit De Le For Amicofedele JW

Well put together and stood out for overall shape. Gave his handler a hard time but, once settled, moved effortlessly to take the class.

2nd – Bushwacker Donnie Darko

Balanced dog, almost square, with a good bone and tight feet.

Open Dog

1st - Sh Ch Piccorino Pheasant Plucker. Really liked the overall balance of this dog, complemented by excellent head planes. Good bone on straight legs; would have preferred tighter feet. Well muscled and presented a lovely picture on the move, particularly in his side gait. A worthy champion. (BOB)

2nd - Braccorions You Can Conquer. Nice head planes, though slightly broad in skull. Good bone and angulation. Movement was a strength and secured him his placing.

Minor Puppy Bitch

1st - Callaiscroft Aurora Star Of Hopewood-A very nice overall shape to this young girl, with excellent bone for her age. She does need to firm up in the rear, which should come with time. Good head planes with a soft expression. Nice angulation front and rear.

2nd - 2nd - Bracchini’s Bit Of Crumpet For Fraulynzway. Finer frame than first, but in proportion. Lovely, kind expression with very nice chiselling. Moved out well, maintaining her topline..

Junior Bitch

1st – Dawbourne Oh You Beauty. A very nervous young lady who will benefit from time to gain confidence and mature

1st – Withamfriary Lush Blossom At Heberhouse

Nice overall shape, though a little wide in front. Balanced head with a keen expression winning the class on

2nd – Elfrindew Kinky Reggae TAF- Lovely feminine head with a soft expression. A tad long in loin but well muscled. I have seen her move well previously, but today she was not feeling it.
