Thank you to the Society for inviting me for this appointment today, the bonus being that I was only 30mins from home so didn’t need to set the alarm clock extra early ;) Also a big thank you to my 2 stewards who did a great job keeping things moving smoothly. A lovely entry overall today, especially the open bitch class with 13 super bitches, a sight not often seen in recent times. I started showing this breed 26yrs ago but recently only been dipping in and out occasionally so many dogs including some of my green card winners were unknown to me which is a nice position to start judging from.
A lot of dogs were let down a little though by handlers who either couldn’t run in straight lines or moved their dogs legs when the dog had already done it better naturally themselves. As expected with this breed there were no issues with teeth/testicles and I felt coats have improved since my last appointment with only a handful being too soft/silky. Finally I must say thank you to you all for the lovely atmosphere felt around the ring with lots of clapping and support for the winners.
Puppy Dog (3:2)
1ST Jomeel Quicksilver (Mr M A & Ms C Staley) 8 months old, standing alone but a lovely quality puppy to start my judging with. Head is full of breed type, correct muzzle to skull, well set ear and an expression that screams GSP. Well boned, standing true fore and aft with excellent pasterns and feet. Excellent front assembly with good forechest. Rib developing nicely, strong loin and well angulated rear. Correct croup and tailset although carries tail a little too proudly at times. Moved true out and back with good reach and drive in profile.
Junior Dog (5:1)
1ST Jomeel Quick Learner (Dr V Cockerill) 8 months old who I later found to be litter brother to the Puppy Dog. A little immature in this junior class both in body and ring experience but he is so moderate and typy that he could not be denied BPIB today. Well proportioned with good angulation and strong topline, correct tail set and carriage. Good coat of correct texture. Moved true out and back with lovely ground covering reach and drive in profile. Could have taken him home, I wish you all the best with him.
2ND Desjiem Starman of Whinchat (ai) (Mrs V S A Prior) 17 months. Masculine all through with excellent head of correct proportions with kind expression. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulder with good return of upperarm. Correct topline with good depth and spring of rib, longer cast through loin than 1. Well angulated rear with strong hocks. Very tidy on the move. Correct coat and tail.

3RD Ceilloch Russian (Mrs D & Mr S Hill)
Open Dog (5:1)
1ST Sh Ch Magregor Four Letter Word for Pothouse JW (Mr R & Miss A Brown & Burns) Quality dog of excellent breed type. Head is masculine but not overdone with correct length of muzzle and well set ear. Sound out and back and stands true from all angles. Excellent shoulder with corresponding return of upperarm, just right for forechest with elbow close to body. Chest is deep and well sprung with ribbing well back, short loin and correct topline. Well angulated rear with strong hocks and correct croup and tailset. Correct slightly sloping pasterns and good feet. On he move he is light and free covering the ground with good length of stride. Dog CC
2ND Kilnrae Berliner Aw(s) (Mrs K M & Mr S N Marsh) Lovely type, moderate and workmanlike in outline. You have to look past his white markings to appreciate his head but he does have correct planes with moderate stop and correctly set ear. Excellent reach of neck into the best of fronts, well angulated with excellent forechest. Chest is deep and well sprung, correct length of loin. Well angled rear, correct croup and tail. One of the best today for true out and back movement but not the stride length of 1 in profile today. RCC

Veteran Dog (2:0)
1ST Jomeel Monkey Wrench (Mr M A & Ms C Staley) Lovely stamp of a dog who I have admired for years. Sadly he is now starting to slow down a little although that didn’t stop his little tail wagging constantly throughout. Just right for size and bone, he is well proportioned and workmanlike in type. Excellent masculine head of good proportions, correct stop and kind eye. Well made all through, balanced angles and good topline. Moved true out and back.

1ST Lagopusmoor Black Mandala On Elfrindew (M & T Dodd & Hayes) Caught my eye on first run around with her light and free gait with excellent reach and drive, totally at one with her handler. Good head of correct planes, darkest of eye and well set ear. She is short backed standing over plenty of ground, sound and true from all angles. Correct topline and tail. Chest is deep and well sprung with strong loin. Well angulated rear, strong hocks and good feet. Excellent coat and condition RCC
2ND Allezweck Edessa (Mr G H & Mrs D R Gatliffe) A bigger bitch than 1 but all in proportion, good type that gives the impression she could easily turn her paws to a day in the field. Feminine head with kind eye and correct length of muzzle. Well muscled neck into well laid shoulder. Good depth of chest, correct forechest and elbows close to body. Good topline and tail. Excellent rear with good angulation, strong hocks and well muscled. Very sound and true out and back but not the ground coverage in profile of 1 today.
3RD Benboee Beelieve (Miss Tait)
Open Bitch 13:1
1ST Sh Ch Keigame Mystique Aurora JW (Mrs C & Mr K Adams) Topping a lovely class that was tough to judge I just couldn’t get past the type and outline of this girl. With minimal handling she just dropped into shape effortlessly. Beautiful head with all the breed features that just scream GSP to you. Just right for size, bone and overall proportions. Well angulated fore and aft, standing with correct slightly sloping pasterns and good feet. Well sprung rib, deep chest and correct topline. So sound on the move with clean rear action, she settled well with a change of handler to show good balance and an easy free action on the go around. BCC & BOB. Thrilled to see her later go on to Group 4. She is still young and I look forward to following her future career.
