Driffield Championship Dog Show
Firstly, I would like to thank the Officers and Committee of Driffield Championship Dog Show for inviting me to judge Italian Greyhounds as a breed specialist. I would also like to thank my very able steward, Mr Geoffrey Thompson. Most of all I would like to thank all the exhibitors for showing their lovely dogs under me. Overall I was very pleased with my entry.
Special Beginners Dog: (2,1)
1. Bailey’s Alura Bandito At Loweroak (Imp USA) Fawn and white with a long lean head, expressive eyes and a good mouth. His neck was long and arched leading onto good shoulders and a straight front. He moved slightly close in front but with some lift. His hind movement was good and parallel. While his tail was long and whip like he tended to carry it quite high when moving which spoiled his outline.
Veteran Dog: (1,1)
1. Thompson’s Blue Lagoon of Bytheiad Shcex VW Blue and white 8 ½ years dog. Correct size with a lovely head, dark eyes and correct ears. Good Shoulders and straight front. Lovely body shape but slightly too much arch over the loin which spoilt his outline slightly. His hind was parallel and he moved likewise behind with power and drive. He moved a little close in front but with some lift. BVIB.
Minor Puppy Dog (0,0)
Puppy Dog: (1,1)
Bailey’s Loweroak Dreamboat F/W 9 months puppy. Lovely size and body shape. Head okay but would prefer it to be slightly longer and narrower. He had good ears and eyes. Long neck leading to straight front, moved slightly wide in front but with some lift. Good parallel hind legs with good drive behind. Lovely supple skin and coat. The most confident of the puppies when moving so BP.
Junior Dog (3,3):
1. Hunter’s Salatini Frank Sinatra Red and white 14 months lovely size. Really good fine skin and coat. He has lovely long, lean head and expression. Good neck leading onto a straight front, fine but strong bone. Moved well both fore and aft with lift and drive. For me, I would just prefer less rise over the loin as this just spoiled his outline especially when he moved.
2. Guyton & Guyton’s Pako from Emerald Galaxy to Ansanda (Imp Ukr) fawn 16months. Lovely head with expressive eyes. Really good body shape, correct size with fine, strong bone. Fine coat and skin. Did not move as confidently as 1 in front but was moving parallel behind.
Post Graduate Dog (0,2)
Limit Dog (3,3):
1. Hunter’s Salatini Supremo Fawn dog of 3 years, was slightly apprehensive on the table at first but soon settled. Correct sized dog with a good body shape with correct rise over the loin. Lovely long head with dark eyes. Good neck leading to a straight front. Good parallel rear when stood. Moved soundly in front and behind but would like more lift in front and more drive behind. Lovely fine skin and coat. RCC.
2. Bailey’s Alura Bandito at Loweroak (Imp USA) Repeat -First in Special Beginners Dog.
Open Dog (2,3)
1. Wilcock’s Ch Newill Haymaker Jw Shcex Osw 3Year old fawn /white dog. Lovely body shape with a slight rise over the loin. Lovely long, lean head with large dark eyes. Nicely arched long neck leading on to a good straight front and hare feet. Good hindquarters being strong and with parallel hocks standing. Moved very well with some lift and plenty of driving hind movement. Was a little fidgety today but I saw enough, for him to gain the CC, was a close decision with the winner of Limit.
2. Amsel & Hayden-Smith’s Artmeis Wild Card Of Regallust (Imp) 3 yr old masculine Blue/White with a long, lean head and dark eye. Straight front but slightly heavier boned than 1 and therefore lacked his elegance. Moved well in front with some lift. Good body shape with slight rise over loin. Hocks were not as parallel as 1 and this affected his hind movement which was not quite as good as 1.
Special Beginners Bitch (3.3)
1. .Bailey’s Loweroak Dare to Dream Fawn/white puppy of 9 months. Lovely head with a dark eye and expression. Slightly arched neck leading to a straight front. She had a slight rise over the loin and a good depth of chest for her age. Lovely fine skin and coat. Needs to settle in movement but managed to see glimpses of correct movement which won her the class. BSB
2. Glover’s Shootersfarm Morning Mist 15 months. Fawn with a good head and neck, good body shape although would prefer deeper depth of chest, stood rather tall. Straight front and parallel behind with parallel hind movement, Not so positive in front with slight crossing.
Veteran Bitch (0,1).
Minor Puppy Bitch (0,0)
Puppy Bitch (3,3)
1. Tomkinson’s Rumphar Super Cora Lovely feminine fawn puppy of 6 months. Lovely size and shape for her age. Feminine head with dark eye and nice expression. Nicely arched, long neck, straight front standing. Correct slight rise over the loin. Lacked confidence on the move so it was difficult to assess. Lovely fine skin and coat.
2. Hague’s Lil Missouri at Laborghini Black/white of 10 months. Lovely head and expression with a nicely arched neck. Straight front when standing. Lovely body shape with slight rise over the loin. Fine skin and glossy coat. Front movement was okay but she moved a little close behind.
Junior Bitch (2,2)
1. Amsel & Hayden Smith’s Birchwind Aurelia Lovely fawn with white trim of 1 year. When going over her she was a little unsure today and lacked confidence, so I took my time with her to gain her confidence. Lovely long, lean head with dark eye and good ear set. Long neck leading to good shoulders and straight front. Good body shape with slight rise over the loin when stood but tended to flatten on the move a little. She lacked confidence on the move today but showed parallel movement when she settled.
2. Glover’s Shootersfarm Morning Mist (2nd in Special Beginners B)
Post Graduate Bitch (1,2)
1. Marks’ Pascalina Super Charty (imp Pol) Blue 3rd in special Beginners. Good head and eye, straight front and parallel rear with a slight rise over the loin when stood. A little long in body and therefore flattened on the move. Her movement could be better. Silky fine coat.
Limit Bitch (5,8) A lovely class of good quality bitches.
1. Bradley’s Rilloby Line of Duty, My star of the day. Such a beautiful , elegant, feminine bitch. Feminine head, long and lean with dark eye and lovely expression. Good long, gracefully arched neck. Good shoulder placement and straight front with fine, strong bone. Beautiful curvy shape with a slight rise over the loin which she kept on the move. Really good hindquarters with long muscle and straight, low set hocks. She moved very well in front with correct lift action and parallel driving hind movement. Her fine skin and coat finished the picture for me today. BCC & BOB
2. Hayden- Smiths Birchwind Morning Star Fawn/white 12 months. Lovely head and expression, dark eye. Nicely arched, long neck. Good straight front with a deep chest. Good body shape with a slight rise over the loin. Good hindquarters, standing parallel behind. Seemed a little unsettled today, but she moved well in front just would prefer more lift when moving.
Open Bitch (3,3) Another good class.
1. Knight’s Ch. Aelaro It’s All About Me Black/white elegant lady. Lovely head with a dark eye and expression. Slightly arched long neck. A good straight front with good fine, strong bone. Really good body shape with slight rise over the loin which she kept on the move Front movement was good with the correct lift and hind action was parallel with plenty of drive. Best mover in the class. Her black, glossy coat and fine skin finished off the picture. Unlucky to meet limit winner today. RCC.
2. Amsel & Rishworth’s Ch. Artmeis Raise the Stakes fawn/white with a lovely long head with dark expressive eyes. Arched neck leading to good shoulders and a straight front. Nicely shaped body with a slight rise over the loin. Good parallel rear with hind movement to match. Her front movement was not as confident as 1 and she had less lift than 1.
