WELKS Ch Show 2026 – Briard

My thanks to exhibitors for some lovely quality specimens and the sporting way in which my placings were taken.

Minor Puppy Dog (1)

1ST Hillier, Rogers & Gardner, At Magic Shadow des Mille Et Une Nuit avec Charson TAF NAF; 7 months’ quality black male of good breed type, a very promising youngster who stood alone in this class. He presented a well-balanced outline, excellent temperament, good mouth, lovely head piece with strong muzzle & broad nostrils, lovely dark eye, well placed ears, strong arched neck into well laid shoulders, stood on ample bone & good feet, good depth of brisket & fore chest for a youngster, good spring of rib, level back into well moulded croup & tail set, well-developed hindquarters with broad thighs and clean hocks, double dew claws. It took a while for him to settle but was nevertheless sound both ways with a steady side gait showing good drive, he just needs to develop and strengthen, shown in good coat.

Junior Dog (1)

1ST Res CC, Wescott-Smith & Smith, Urban Legend Dilorini at Rozimba (Imp Pol); 16 months’ fawn male of good quality & breed type, presented in good order throughout. Excellent temperament, good mouth, nice dark eye giving him a pleasing expression, lovely well-proportioned head piece, with defined stop and strong muzzle, well placed ears, strong well arched neck into well laid shoulders, he was well balanced throughout with good angles & proportions, stood on ample bone, strong pasterns and good well-padded feet, good depth of brisket and developed fore chest, good spring of rib, strong level back into well moulded croup & tail set, tail of correct length with obligatory hook, well-developed hindquarters with strong thigh and hocks, double dew claws. He was sound both ways with a lovely ground covering side gait, showing good reach & drive, holding his top line on the move, good coat with harsh outer layer. He was presented in good order and handled to perfection. Another very promising youngster.

2ND Thorp’s, Gilcoru Malbec D'brie JW; 2 years this lovely fawn male of correct size, well balanced throughout with a lovely head piece, excellent temperament, good mouth, nice dark eye, broad nostrils, well placed ears, strong neck into well laid shoulders, stood on ample bone with nice tight feet, good depth of brisket & fore chest, well sprung rib, level back into well moulded croup & tail set, well-developed hindquarters and strong hocks, he was sound both ways with a steady side gait, shown in good coat & condition.

3RD Challis’, Kastobri Midnight Dreamer;

1ST CC, BOB & BVIB, Rual & Keogh’s, Ch Gilcoru Wolfblass D’brie; this excellent 7 yr old fawn male just stood out in this class with his quality and breed type, medium / top size, so well balanced throughout, with good angles & proportions, excellent temperament, good mouth, lovely head piece with strong muzzle and broad nostrils, defined stop, nice dark eye giving a pleasing expression, well placed ears, strong well arched neck into well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm, stood on ample bone with strong pasterns and good feet, good depth of brisket & fore chest, good spring of rib and strong loins, firm level back into well moulded croup & tail set, correct length of tail with obligatory hook, well-developed hindquarters with good width of thigh and straight hocks and strong double dew claws, he was sound both ways with a super side gait showing good reach & drive making it look so effortless. Lovely coat with harsh outer coat, shown in good hard condition & well presented.

2ND Holland’s, Rafferty De La Chaume Du Bois Dieu Sel Fr; 5 years’ dark fawn male, another of good quality & breed type, excellent temperament, good mouth, lovely head piece with a nice dark eye, strong neck into well laid shoulders, he was well balanced throughout with good angles & proportions, stood on ample bone and good feet, good depth of brisket, level back into well moulded croup & tail set, well-developed hindquarters. He was sound away but needs to tighten in elbows coming. Shown in good coat & condition.

3RD Snelling’s Ch Beaugency Bearly Bouzy;

Veteran Bitch (1)

1ST Barber & Gaskin’s, Shezmo Lady Midna; 10 years’ black female of medium size, good quality & breed type, excellent temperament, good mouth, nice dark eye, well balanced head piece, well placed ears, strong neck into well laid shoulders, stood on ample bone, good feet, good depth of brisket & fore chest, well sprung rib, level back into well moulded croup & tail set, well-developed hindquarters. She was sound both ways with a lovely side gait showing good reach & drive, lovely harsh coat.

Puppy Bitch (2)

1ST BPIB, Trimnell’s, Vallonne Magical Flame; 9 months’ fawn female, a well-balanced baby with excellent angles & proportions, excellent temperament, good mouth, lovely head piece with nice dark eye, defined stop, well placed ears, well arched neck into well laid shoulders, stood on ample bone with strong pasterns & good feet. Good depth of brisket & ribbing, strong back into well moulded croup and well-developed hindquarters, strong hocks. She was sound both ways with a lovely side gait showing good reach & drive, shown in good coat & condition. Very promising youngster.

2ND Trimnell’s,Vallonne Magical Illusion; 9 months fawn female, litter sister to winner, slightly shorter in proportion to height, excellent temperament, good mouth, lovely head piece with nice dark eye, well placed ears, good neck into well laid shoulders, a shade steep in upper arm, not affording her the forward reach of 1, That said she was sound both ways, shown in good coat & condition.

Junior Bitch (1)

1ST Southron’s, Vallonne Magical trick to Kastobri; 10 months fawn female with dark shading, excellent temperament, good mouth, lovely head piece, well placed ears, good neck into well laid shoulders, shade steep in upper arm, stood on ample bone, good depth of brisket & ribbing, level back into well moulded croup & good length of tail, well-developed hindquarters although needs to firm in hocks, she moved straight away and back but needs to firm in hocks & elbows a little, steady side gait showing fair reach and good drive. Shown in good coat & condition.

1ST Fletcher, Rual & Keogh’s, Gilcoru Quaid at Arrowflec NAF TAF; 19 months’ black female of good quality & breed type, medium size, excellent temperament, good mouth, lovely head piece with strong muzzle and broad nostrils, nice dark eye giving her a lovely expression, defined stop and well-rounded back skull, well placed ears, strong neck into well laid shoulders, she was well balanced throughout with good angles & proportions, stood on ample bone with strong pasterns and good feet, good depth of brisket & ribbing, well-developed fore chest, strong loins, firm level back into well moulded croup & tail set, well-developed hindquarters and strong hocks. She was sound both ways with a steady side gait showing good reach & drive, took her a long time to settle, good harsh coat and presented in good hard condition.

2ND Hillier & Gardner’s, Charson Walls Have Ears; 2 ½ years top sized fawn female with dark shading, a shade longer in loin than winner, excellent temperament, good mouth lovely well balanced head piece with nice dark eye, well placed ears, strong neck into well laid shoulders, stood on ample bone with strong pasterns and good feet, good depth of brisket & ribbing, level back into well moulded croup & tail set, good length of tail, strong hocks, she was sound both ways with a steady side gait showing good drive, just lacked the forward reach of winner. Shown in good coat & condition.

3RD Snelling’s, Zhamanen Bezique for Beaugency (Imp Fin);

1ST CC & BOS, Bithell’s, Ch Gilcoru No Rules D'brie at Bourntwyn; 2 years black female of medium size, excellent quality & breed type, excellent temperament, good mouth lovely head piece with defined stop, strong muzzle and broad nostrils, lovely dark eye to fininsh the picture, well placed ears, good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, she was well balanced throughout with excellent angles & proportions, good depth of brisket & fore chest, well sprung rib and strong loins, firm level back into well moulded croup & tail set, good length of tail with obligatory hook, well-developed hindquarters with good width of thigh and strong hocks. She was sound both ways with an excellent workman like side gait showing effortless reach & drive, holding her back line on the move. Presented in good coat with harsh outer texture and soft dense undercoat, firm musculature throughout. Piloted well to the top spot.

2ND Res CC, Snelling’s Ch Beaugency Bellini; 5 years fawn with shading, another of good quality & breed type, very similar to winner, excellent temperament, good mouth, lovely head piece and nice dark eye, well placed ears, good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, so well balanced throughout with good angles & proportions, stood on ample bone with strong pasterns and good feet, good depth of brisket & fore chest, well sprung rib and strong loin, strong straight back into well moulded croup & tail set, well-developed hindquarters with broad thighs and strong hocks, she was sound both ways with a steady side gait showing good drive, but not the forehand reach of winner. Shown in full coat with harsh outer coat, in good hard condition. Handler needs to slow down on the move and just lengthen their stride to show off her angles better.
