North of Scotland Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club Championship Show 4 October 2026
Dog Judge: Mark Davies (Sebsonic)
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the officers and committee of the North of Scotland SBT Club for inviting me to judge dogs at your show. It was a well run show at a fantastic venue, which had a great presence and atmosphere. My two stewards were fantastic, so thank you to Iain and Caroline who ran the ring smoothly throughout the day. Thanks to all the exhibitors for your entries, without you guys there wouldn’t be a show. I didn’t find any real concerns with the exhibits shown today. Hope you all had an enjoyable day and safe travels home.

1. Davidson & Schofield’s WAYSTAFF WILLIAM CONQUERER. 8½ month old red with a white front which flows around the neck. Super head with good strength and clean outlines, neat rose ears which he used to his advantage, distinct stop with good width to skull and a perfect scissor bite with a strong underjaw. Great qualities in this youngster. Well-placed shoulder and lovely front with good width and depth of brisket and enough bone. Well-sprung rib with good tuck-up in loin. Slight slope to croup, rear quarters are coming on with a good let down hock. Well balanced throughout and moved well when settled for one so young, holding a good topline and pump handle tail. Handled well. This puppy has a great future to make it to the top and best of luck with him. It was a pleasure to award him BPD & BPIS in agreement with my co-judge, Mike Davies.
2. Hamilton & Murphy’s SHAWRIGG DEFINITELY MAYBE. This white and red pied of 7½ months is of excellent breed type. Lovely head with good strength and showing a lovely expression, good stop, tight lip, correct scissor bite, lovely dark well-placed eyes, neat ears and a black nose. He has a good front with good width of forechest. Good in body and shown in good condition. Well balanced throughout with a good bend of stifle. Moved with ease and handled well. Another with a bright future.
3. Powell & Kelbie’s MANORSTAFF ROBBIE BURNS.

1. Davis’ SHARMARA FIDELIUS CHARM JW. Lovely brindle with white front. He has superb attributes, very well put together with nothing exaggerated about him, pleasing to the eye from all angles. In good condition with a tight, gleaming coat. Strong, powerful head, great expression with the darkest of eyes and a strong underjaw with a good bite. Well off for bone with a good straight front. He has plenty of rib. I would like to see him with more muscle on his rear quarters and tuck-up to loin, but he’s still a young dog. He moved with drive, covering the ground with ease and was handled well.
2. Moffat’s STAFFCLYDE BATTLESHIP BILL. Red dog with white on the chest and a dark mask. Good strength to head with a lovely expression—no exaggeration, tight lipped with a good underjaw showing a correct bite. Good straight front showing good width with tight feet. Well-sprung rib and good depth of brisket. Good strong hindquarters and bend of stifle. Lovely short coupled with a good topline, held on the move. Moved true both ways and was handled well.
3. Campbell & Morrison’s MAKVOLKA ROGUE RIDER.

1. Bassford-Lane’s JOJALANE I DRINK WINE JW. This red with white chest and white on four of his feet was the star of the day for me. He showed quality throughout from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail. In excellent condition and hard as they come. He has a fantastic head with good strength, dark, round eyes and dark mask, showing a super expression, distinct stop, perfect dentition, very clean lip and good strength to underjaw. Perfect straight front with good width and drop of brisket. This dog fits the breed standard to perfection with great virtues. Stood foursquare with great bone and perfect front on feet that are slightly turned out. Nice spring of rib and good tuck-up in loin. Strong, powerful rear quarters with well-muscled first and second thighs. He has good angulation and a good bend of stifle with well let down hocks. This dog is put together correctly, which showed when he moved. He moved with great drive and so parallel, covering the ground with ease. Handler got the best out of him today—well done. I was very pleased to award him the DCC & BIS in agreement with my co-judge, Mike Davies. Thanks for bringing him today.
2. Tucker’s SAMTAN THE RAGING BULL. Lovely red dog shown in excellent condition with clean outlines. He has a nice, clean head with a good expression, lovely ear carriage, good length to muzzle with a clean, tight lip—no exaggeration and a correct bite. Well up on his pasterns on good feet. Enough width to front and good bone. Well-sprung rib and great topline when stood foursquare and held on the move. His movement was one of the best on the day. Handled well.
3. Cook’s STAFFRANOS ESQUIRE AT RAGNARSTAFFS.

1. Wells’ WELLSSTAFFS YOUNG WARRIOR JW. B/br dog. What a cracker, full of ring presence and showing his potential. His head qualities are very impressive with dark eyes and well-placed ears which he used all the time, expressing type, defined stop and excellent dentition. Strong, short neck with well-laid back shoulders. Strong boned with the best of fronts on tight, well-padded feet. He is very well constructed throughout with a short, gleaming coat. His topline is level with a good underline. Rear angulation was spot on and his powerful rear quarters helped him move with drive and purpose. Handled to perfection. I would prefer just a little more lift, but, saying that, he is an overall quality dog and well deserved to win this class.
2. Buchan’s HAPPYSTAFF HAKUNA MATATA. Lovely tiger brindle dog of good size. Nice proportioned head with super dark eyes and a lovely expression, well-set ears and correct scissor bite. Good neck leading into well-laid shoulders. True front on tight feet, nice bone and a good brisket. Enough substance. Well-ribbed up with a nice waistline, good topline and good muscle tone to the rear with a nice bend of stifle. Shown in fit condition and moved well up and down. Handled well.
3. Seymour’s DEKAYRO’S EYE OF THE TIGER.
R. McKenna’s KENSESQUI GOBI SPARHARD’S.

1. Hall’s GEORDIESTAFF LOCAL HERO JW. B/br dog with white chest that looked good to the eye from all angles. He was on his toes at all times with a gleaming coat. Super headpiece and a wicked expression with neat, rose ears and the darkest of eyes, strong underjaw with a perfect bite. Good depth to brisket and good front. Strong, short neck flowing nicely into well-laid back shoulders with no looseness. Well muscled throughout. Good spring of rib with good tuck-up to loin and good bend of stifle. Moved with purpose, covering the ground with ease, but loses his topline slightly on the move.
2. Sinclair & Hayward’s GLENSKYRA LOMOND LAD JW. B/br dog with a lovely clean headpiece giving a lovely expression with neat ears and nice dark, round eyes, perfect scissor bite with very clean lip. Strong, short neck flowing into well-laid back shoulders giving a good front, correct drop of brisket and ample rib. In lovely condition with good muscular rear quarters and good bend of stifle. Great ring presence and moved effortlessly with super handling. I would like to see more all over, but, saying that, he is a quality dog that fits the breed standard.

1. Duncan’s RHEBELSTAFF HUNKY DORY. B/br dog with white on chest. Straight out of the top drawer, oozes quality throughout but unfortunately came up against a top class Yearling dog today. He has a lovely head with good strength, good skull to muzzle ratio, well balanced with correct proportions, neat ear carriage, good cheek bumps and good strength to underjaw with correct dentition and tight lip. Perfect front with good depth of chest. Well-laid back shoulders with no looseness. Good topline and short coupled. In tip top condition with a tight coat. Looked great from all angles with powerful rear quarters and good bend of stifle. Moved with purpose, covering the ground with ease and handled to perfection. Well deserved this class today and the DRCC.
2. Dickenson & Stewart’s CH BARIELLE DUTCH CONNECTION BY AYMSTAFF. B/br. Another top quality dog with great ring presence. He has the strongest of heads with the darkest of eyes and lovely ear carriage which he used to his advantage, good stop, distinct cheek muscle and clean muzzle with the tightest of lip and correct scissor bite. Great muscle tone throughout. Perfect front on good feet. Deep brisket and good tuck-up, ample rib and good topline. Powerful rear quarters with good bend of stifle. He was in the hardest of condition and moved with purpose and drive both ways, holding a good topline and tail carriage. Handled professionally and shown in first class condition.
