Bournemouth CA Ch Show 2026 (Hound Group and Hound Puppy Group)

 Many thanks to all involved with Bournemouth CA for opportunity to judge this fabulous group of adult dogs and Puppies. In glorious weather and with great hospitality and co-judges it meant for a most enjoyable and memorable time. I must also give a big thank you to all the stewards and helpers for their hard work. I found the depth of quality in both the adult and puppy groups to be very high, meaning I could have had a lot more breeds short listed resulting in very close decisions having to be made.

Hound Group

BEST: 195 MACKIE, Miss Nicola E & PREDDY, MR ISAAC - Byelobog Granabrazo At Hawksflight (imp Svk) - BORZOI – Dog - Head of good length, lean and proportionate, dark eye and small ears well placed. Well arched muscular neck of good length. Straight legs good elbows. Good depth brisket and good back graceful curve falling away to well-developed muscular thighs, good hocks. Low set tail of good length. Stands of well arched feet of good shape. Presented in good silky coat and covered the ground with positive long striding gait holding good outline. Very eye catching and very well presented.

RESERVE: 442 SPRY, Mrs Kaye - Killoughery Touchstone - IRISH WOLFHOUND – Dog - Of good size with quality bone good legs and feet. Handsome well-proportioned head with well-placed small ears, clean muscular neck. Strong body, good tail and in good quality harsh coat. Balanced standing and when covering ground positively in this very hot weather to earn his place. Very good drive and footfall. 

3rd : 82 ROBERTSON, Mrs S & ROBERTSON, Miss E & ROBERTSON, - Ch Dyfrgi's British Hart with Soletrader (Swed Imp - BASSET FAUVE DE BRETAGNE – Dog- Lovely head and expression. Balanced and in first class coat and condition. Medium length body of good depth with ribs well back, strong loin. Tail set on high and well carried. Very good legs and feet. Super eye and expression, outgoing and makes you give him your attention. Moved positive coordinated easy action very good width and drive in rear.

4th : 156 CRAIG, Mr D R - Davricard Madonna - BEAGLE – Bitch- Feminine with good skull stop and muzzle, good nose. Ears well placed and good shape lying close to head. Clean neck, good depth, well sprung ribs and strong loin. Sturdy tail set on high of good length. Well-muscled rear firm hocks. In first class coat and condition. Moved with drive and good reach. Holds firm top line good tail carriage.

After great consideration, others in this quality group I had to give further review were the – Basenji - FROST, Ms Julie & FROST, Ms Ashleigh & FROST, Ms C Can & Am Ch Bushwacker Kiss Myaurora (Can Imp) Bloodhound - CLARK, Miss S Ch Farlap Keepsake, Dachshund (Wire Haired) MCCALMONT, Mrs Kim & MCCALMONT, Mr Duncan Ch Silvae Bystander, AVNSC – Ibizan - CARTER, Mrs Amanda Ch L-wynd's Where The Shadow Ends (Imp USA) JW, - AV Import Reg - Basset (Blue De Gasc.)

Hound Puppy Group

1st : 157 CRAIG, Mr D R Davricard Astrid - BEAGLE – Bitch. Feminine well-proportioned head with good eye and the loveliest expression which grabbed my attention to her immediately. Good neck into well-proportioned body. Straight legs and fabulous feet. Well bent stifle, good hocks and elbows. Tail well set on and carried. In super condition and move with purpose holding balanced outline. Should have a good future.

2nd : 694 SPADEMAN, Mrs Fiona & MYCROFT, Mrs Susan & MORRIS, Wentvalley Gosh She's Posh At Crosscop - WHIPPET – Bitch. Close to winner and full of quality. Nice size, lovely head with eye of good shape and colour and well-placed ears of fine texture. Clean neck, correct top line. good depth. Straight legs well knuckled feet. Good loin and well developed rear good tail. Presented in good short coat and moved with long stride and nice width in rear holding an elegant outline, shows lots of promise.

3rd : 733 CALLOW, Ms N Whittimere Spexy Beast - AV HOUND NOT SEPARATELY CLASSIFIED – Dog - Good shaped head, dark eye and erect ears. Good neck, short strong back. Tail well set on and carried. Good depth and width. Nice bend stifle Presented in good coat and has good legs on small feet. Balanced and hold good frame when cover ing ground with good drive and reach. Has much to like.

4th : 450 SUMNER, Mrs T Dukesarum Caoimhe - IRISH WOLFHOUND – Bitch – Most promising youngster of good size. Liked her quality head and nice eye, good height to length. Good depth and very good quality bone, legs and feet. Tail well set on and in good condition. Coat of good texture. Stands on good feet and moved with good stride, holds nice frame and just needs time to fill in the frame. Free striding and good head carriage with good reach has lots of breed virtues.
