I was thrilled to be invited to judge at this show and would like to thank all the exhibitors for making my first senior appointment so special with their entries and great sportsmanship. I don’t mention mouths individually as I only found three slightly undershot and did not find myself having to determine my placings on this attribute alone. I should mention that I witnessed several tight lower canines which were not inset, but very close in the gum line, so I would urge caution to breeders on this point. I adore the spirit of all bull terriers as they remind me that there’s more fun to be had on show days than walking obediently to heel around the ring! They are without-doubt one of the most enjoyable breeds to judge.

1st Oakfayre’s Risky Business (Ms A & Mr H Thompson & Pentecost) substantial white with good bone and balance; strong topline and correct tailset which he held correctly on the move. Lovely strong, unexaggerated and filled head in good proportion to his body size; dark well-placed eyes and shape; correct ear size and shape on a strong neck into well laid shoulders and well-boned straight front and strong forechest, mature in rib for age. Good angulation both ends and moved well both ways. Coat could have been finer to complete the picture. 2ND Badlesmere Best of British at Seaquest (Mrs M Gray) an upstanding tri who wasn’t enjoying his time in the ring today and so didn’t show himself to his best advantage. Long, strong head with nice profile, correct eye shape and placement, good ear shape and size but not keen to hold them alert today. Strong clean neck set into correctly angulated shoulder and straight front with tidy feet. Correct topline and tailset. Good rear angulation. His movement reflected his attitude in the ring today; adequate but lacking drive. 3rd Karamel Fireball by Coxgal (Miss T Sinclair)

1st Rasels Bull Timotej of Bullyon NAF TAF (Mr M & Mrs J Phillips) a good size, strong, substantial white with a striking profile, piercing eye and muscular hindquarters who remained on his toes throughout his time in the ring. Pleasing head carriage and strong, long neck into muscled well-laid shoulders, straight front and strong forechest. Ample rib, short back, muscled thighs and hocks well-let down. Moved with energy and drive both ways. Pushed hard for top honours.

1ST Salvusline Amber Arrow among Napier (Mr M C & Mrs T J Fletcher) smart square brindle with perfect balance throughout his frame. A clean, long, strong, filled head; excellent in profile with dark eyes and pigment showing off a clean lip and strong underjaw. Nice small, thin ears carried erect and giving him a keen expression, head carried well on a strong neck of good length into clean and well-laid shoulders, super-straight front and strong forechest and nice tight feet. Good topline held nicely when he moved, which was straight and strong when settled. More to come. DCC today. 2nd Salvusline Against All Odds with Aribax (Mr R & Mr J & Miss T & Miss K Martin & Salvado & Mackie & Kosovets) a substantial well-marked brindle with a strikingly filled head and unbroken profile, good eye, lovely size and placement to ears giving him a strong expression, well-boned and tremendous rib, straight front, good forechest and strong shoulders held tightly to chest. A little longer cast than my class winner. Short hocks, moved with ease both ways. 3Rd Topasbully Lubomir at Arcanum (Mrs H E Wardle)

1st Ir Ch Abgar Frostbite (Mr G. & Miss A. Newberry & Bartkowiak) square typey muscular white with a strong head and dark well-shaped eye with small well-positioned ears giving him a super-keen expression. Good neck and strong shoulder with straight front and good forechest. Good spring of rib. Strong level topline with correct set of tail. Strong on the move displaying a lovely straight front movement and great drive from the rear. RDCC 2nd Vataha Hocus Pocus at Caliber (Mr & Mrs W Lambert) a substantially built brindle with a large, filled head and excellent profile, small ears well-carried, good eye and expression, broad forechest, level topline, moved with ease both ways.

1st Chattanooba Choo Choo Aedestaurum (Mrs J Harper) Delighted to see this solid red representing the quality found in the seniors today. He remains full of type and balance that his age won’t diminish. Strong head and excellent eye shape and placement along with small well-placed ears and dark pigment, gives him an excellent expression. His strong neck leads into a well-placed shoulder which held a super-straight front, level topline and good tail carriage. He held this shape well on the move. Alone today, but a very worthy BV

1st Aribax Firecracker (Mr R D & Miss T Martin & Mackie) smartly marked brindle with tremendous substance for her age, lovely strongly boned, straight front, strong deep chest, dark well-shaped eye, long filled head, strong shoulder and spring of rib, level topline, good tailset, moved well both ways. 2nd Maldataurs Frostfire (Miss S Davidson) an upstanding white with black ear patch, feminine head and expression but lacking the fill under the eye of my class winner. Lovely forechest, straight front and excellent shoulder angulation, level topline and correct tailset. Flowing bodylines with strong second thigh and hocks well-let down. 3rd Vataha Bonbon at Ayupduck (Miss D M May)

1st Oakfayre's High Voltage at Graymor (Mrs M E & Ms A Hughes & Thompson) this well-marked tri grabbed my attention with her perfect balance, outline and symmetry. She has a strong feminine head that is completely filled and an elegant profile finished with a large open nose and strong underjaw. Lovely eye and ear set, giving her an excellent expression. Flowing neckline into a superb shoulder and strong forechest. The straightest of fronts finished on tidy tight feet. Correct angulation front and back. Level topline and super tail set and carriage which was held correctly on straight movement. Her movement in profile also displayed just how well she holds her shape as she strode out and how well she is put together. Despite her youth, I could not deny her the top honour BP, BCC, BoB. 2nd Badlesmere Bestil Daylight (Mrs C Campbell) a dark-masked tri with a feminine head and expression although I’d have preferred more strength in her underjaw, nice eyes and ear set which gave her a good expression when asked to show it off. Straight front, good shoulder and rear angulation. Level topline and correct tailset. Movement was straight but economical in stride length and pace. 3rd Salvusline Milagros Delle Martinenghine (Mr J & Miss K Salvado & Kosovets)

1st Pixelited Black Orkid of Worzelese (Mrs H Sutcliffe) Upstanding Black Brindle with an adequate head with a keen eye and neat ears but lacking the fill and length of my winners today. Strong body and spring of rib, straight in front with strong forechest, short back and level topline, but tail was set and carried a tad high. Strong angulation resulted in movement that covered the ground easily and with drive. 2nd Pixelited Black Diamonds at Olympusbulys (Mrs J Harper) a black brindle, similar in type to my class winner with sound construction and an adequate head but lacked the fill and strength in lower muzzle of my winners. Good neck and lovely forechest with straight front and good spring of rib. Her high tail carriage spoilt an otherwise elegant outline. Moved well both ways.

1st Oakfayre’s Whiplash Weasel JW (Ms A & Mr H Thompson & Pentecost) toned, compact white with a strong filled head. Would have liked more profile to complete the picture, but her lovely smart ear size, shape and set, with a great eye placement and expression along with her excellent front, forechest and feet, correct shoulder placement and rear angulation, strong level topline and tailset producing a strong an easy straight movement both ways, gave her this class. RBCC 2nd Coraggiosa Tigre at Olympusbulys (Mrs J Harper) a smart upstanding brindle with a strong head and nice eye, strong neck and level topline, good tailset and carriage, marked spring of rib, good forechest with straight front. Not quite the bone to body ratio of my class winner. Moved well both ways. 3rd Smart Tri Corsa Zlota Beja at Ceresbull's (Imp Pol) (Miss K Pilinska)

1st U Two Dragon Lady Venturesome Salvusline (Mr J & Miss K Salvado & Kosovets) nice compact sized brindle with a strong filled head and super profile. Lovely dark well-placed eye and ear and the best elegant arched neck and shoulder with a strong forechest, straight front, deep chest, level topline and strong hindquarters. Slightly more upward curve from the brisket would have improved her overall balance and outline. Moved well both ways. 2nd Bullypins Kallandra (Mr A & Mrs M Llewellyn) an elegant more upstanding feminine black brindle. Her head had a good profile but lacked the strength and depth in lower muzzle to my winner, nice reach of neck and lovely shoulder placement, with broad chest and straight front, tidy feet. Level topline and the best tailset which she wagged throughout her spotlight! Overall, a very well-balanced and well-constructed bitch.

1ST 5696 - Winter Has Come von Tessarion (Mrs J & Mr R Lowe) a young white, with a demure and reluctant manner in the ring today. Her head is strong but lacks complete fill under the eye to finish it to best advantage. Excellent shape and placed eye, lovely size and ear placement which she was reluctant to hold on top. Good length of neck and strong topline and tailset, good shoulder and straight front, tidy feet. Seemed a little overawed with the occasion today which inhibited her movement and the handler’s ability to show her to her best advantage, but she’s only a baby, so I’m sure there’s more to come. BSB
