Dachshund (Min Wire-Haired)
I appreciated the entry of 44, just 2 less than when I last judged the variety in 2024. Many thanks to my stewards Bill & Trish Gray for keeping the ring going; and also to the exhibitors for coming out on a weekday in these expensive times.

1ST 564 - Janacop Sweet Child of Mine (Mrs J Kilroy)
Smart puppy of a good shape and type, his head is coming on nicely, but I would prefer a little more strength to it & perhaps I would like him a little better eye shape; but he is not unattractive. His front is good, and his ribs go fairly well back. He holds his topline standing & moving and carries his tail well. He doesn’t need any more hind angulation; but moves quite accurately away and back; even if he could extend a little more in profile. In good jacket and very well presented.
2ND 589 - Moonshe Bee Linquent (Mrs P L Taylor)
In many ways I preferred the type of this chap, as he is very much what I am looking for in the variety in terms of shape and outline. He has a lovely head and eye, very keen in expression. Could have better shoulders & his front feet turn out too much, which cost him here. Well ribbed back and holds his topline; but not using himself as well as the winner on the move today which cost him. Well presented in a lovely jacket.

1ST 585 - Ridanflight Gilcoru Gino (Mr S Rose)
Smart young dog with a decent head and eye, I might like a bit more strength to his muzzle in an ideal world, but he is very houndy in expression which I admired. Good to go over, and he has a good body shape and type; well ribbed back and holds his topline going round, just not perhaps the drive behind of the CC & ResCC winners on the day.
2ND 581 - Milkwood's May Bud (Miss R Peek)
I liked this chap too, he has a lovely head and eye, well made in front & good keel, his ribs go well back & he holds his outline standing and moving. Good quarters & in good muscle-tone, but he would benefit from being trimmed a little better and he was a little “windy” today, although I am sure this was in no small part to the wind tunnel, we found ourselves in. He is a lovely boy who I am sure will have better days, with more exposure.

1ST 569 - Helydon Xtra Xpecial JW (Misses A & A Kirkwood-Emery)
Young dog with a lot of promise, houndy in head and expression, good keel & well laid shoulders, he is very well ribbed back and neat in underline; tail well set & carried correctly, I wouldn’t want any more of him, but he is a really good type, and a very useful sort. Full of himself on the move and a typical teenage male, but he is very sound and accurate and uses himself rather well.

1ST 578 - Rozelle Fools Gold (Mrs R J Mullen)
Smart chap, he is fairly decent in head and eye, and just strong enough in muzzle; quite good to go over, enough neck & his ribs are just about far enough back; hammy hindquarters and he has a well-proportioned outline. He was ahead of the others here in terms of movement away and back, even if he too could do with more drive behind. Kept his outline in profile and looked good. In a decent jacket of the correct texture.
2ND 584 - Collidach Thomas Tank JW (Mrs Nf Price)
He is a touch larger than the winner, but with a marginally better head in terms of strength and balance. Enough angulation in front and behind, and he has enough ground clearance. A generally good make and shape, and like the winner; I might prefer more drive behind. I felt the winner had a better profile going around on the day. Another in a good jacket & very sympathetically handled.

1ST 563 - Ch Bimini Song Sung Blue JW (Mrs S J Jones)
This chap won MPD under me the last time & I did consider him further even then, as I felt he had a lot of promise. He is just what I am looking for in terms of head, make, shape & construction. Very expressive, lovely shape to his eyes and balance to his skull. Well made in front & he stands on lovely legs and feet. Well proportioned body, ribbing goes well back, but he does not need to carry an ounce more weight. He has the angulation I want behind, with hammy hindquarters & lovely over the rump. Really smart and felt there was nothing to beat him in the males today, CC & BOS. His sire had the CC & BOB the last time I judged.
2ND 548 - Ch Almarxils Diego for Ruichango JW (Imp Esp) (Miss M Corominas)
Not a new one to me, and he won the BPD & the ResCC over the winner the last time from PD, and I liked him then and still like him today. He is a very different type to the winner, but also very attractive. He has a good head and eye, in many respects equal to the winner. He is well made in front, and he is well ribbed; but he is a little longer in body than the winner & I felt this could be seen in his topline on the day. He could perhaps have a little less hind angulation, but he is still very sound both ways. Not in as harsh a coat as the winner on the day, but I am still an admirer, as marked by the RCC once more.

Very sweet girl, lovely head and eye, good to go over & she still carries a lovely body. Shows her age a little bit now on the move & was feeling the heat today. A real sweetheart.

1ST 570 - Helydon Yer Yolo (Misses A & A Kirkwood-Emery)
Fell in love with this precocious youngster & interestingly I see I gave her mother the ResCC last time I judged. So much to like about her, even at this tender age & if she grows along the same lines, she should finish up lovely. Beautiful head and expression, lovely over the neck and shoulder, firm topline and neat underline, lovely hindquarters and so true and accurate on the move. Can settle in tail to advantage but I gave her the benefit of the doubt today & her enjoyment was apparent. Close up for ResCC but she has time, BPIB.

1ST 552 - Moonshe Bee Lightful (Mr T & Mrs A Crossman & Kennedy)
Half-sister to BOB & a very attractive and promising youngster with a lovely shape and outline. Good head and eye and well made at both ends. She has lovely ribbing & keeps her topline standing and moving. Maybe not going quite so smoothly and freely today as she might otherwise, but she is young yet and has plenty of time. Well presented jacket & handled sympathetically.
2ND 547 - Templestowe Martini Sec (Mrs J J Chugg)
Quite a good shape and type, decent head properties and a keen expression. Not the build in front of the winner in terms of forelegs, and not quite the return of upperarm. Firm enough in topline, and tidy in underline. Hindquarters are okay & she goes well, though not so tidy up and back as the winner just yet. Very happy temperament.

1ST 587 - Rozamie Reflection of Rosencrantz (Mrs B J Rose)
Quite a close-run thing here between all three & they are all nice in their own way. Ultimately the winner was this nice bitch, very well made throughout, good head and eye, decent keel, perhaps a tiny bit forward in shoulder but didn’t affect her front, lovely topline & hindquarters, free and easy on the move and I wondered then if she might be a competitor later on, but in her next class she was clearly feeling the heat which ultimately cost her the class & the chance of something else later on. A shame as I thought she was lovely.
2ND 571 - Lordscairnie Love in Paris (Mrs S F Marston Teal)
Close up to the winner and a lot to like about her too, she is very similar in most respects, good head and eye; well made in front and firm in topline. Enough ground clearance, and she goes with a good, easy stride. I just made the winner ever so slightly more accurate up and back on the day; but this one is certainly assured of a future too.

1ST 580 - Almarxils Flamenco Dancer at Llennocor (Mr R & Mrs A O'connell)
Very smart youngster with a good head and expression, strong jaw & very houndy throughout. Clean over the neck and shoulder and she stands on good legs and feet, firm in topline & her quarters are good, ribbing goes well back & her tail is well set and carried. In a lovely jacket of good texture. A mite apprehensive today coming back to me & on the stack; typical teenager! Sympathetically handled.
2ND 582 - Milkwood's May Ze (Miss R Peek)
Another good bitch and she is a good overall make and shape. Her head and eye are good; clean over the neck and shoulder, good keel and forequarters, well ribbed back & she has lovely hindquarters. Not quite so accurate as the winner going or coming on the day, but she is really nice with a lot of promise.

1ST 568 - Helydon Xeptional Xaya JW (Misses A & A Kirkwood-Emery)
Lovely headed bitch, has strength but retains her femininity, well made forequarters, good keel & ribbing goes well back, firm topline and neat in underline, she is very good to go over and all of a piece. Goes with a lovely, smooth, free stride & she comes to life there. Very useful prospect & another one so well presented from this kennel.
2ND 587 - Rozamie Reflection of Rosencrantz (Mrs B J Rose)
Repeat of Junior, flagging in the heat a bit here.

1ST 562 - Bimini Moonlight (Mrs S J Jones)
Star of the day as it were, beautiful bitch with everything going for her. Classy, but houndy head and expression, beautiful front and keel, well ribbed back; firm topline and neat underline, lovely hammy hindquarters and rump. She stands on good legs and feet, in beautiful jacket & peak muscular condition. So sound, free and accurate on the move. Coming in for the challenge I thought her kennelmate would be BOB, but she continued with her wonderful action and carriage & so it was hers. Beautiful bitch.
2ND 572 - Lordscairnie Peaceful Love (Mrs S F Marston Teal)
I liked this one very much too. She has a lot going for her & is well proportioned and balanced. Lovely expression, and well made in body; but I preferred the hindquarters of the winner going away, but she was close-up and I called her back in for the ResCC. Had she been more prepared and settled, she probably would have had it; but she threw it away. Another quality bitch with a lot to like.

1ST 579 - Ch Rozelle Kamiras Year (Mrs R & Mr S & Mr S Mullen & Mullen & Rose)
Close call between 1 & 2 and perhaps in different circumstances they might change places. Lots to like about this one, liked her head and expression, good shoulders and ribbing; firm topline and uses herself well going around; in grand condition. ResCC, because of her more self-assured & settled action in the challenge for it against the 2nd in Limit Bitch.
2ND 567 - Ch Helydon Tartan Talula JW (Misses A & A Kirkwood-Emery)
I liked this one very much too, she has a lovely head and eye, grand legs & feet, well ribbed back and firm in both topline and underline. Perhaps a little steeper over the croup than the winner for ideal, but I appreciated her virtues and there is no denying her Ch quality. What a wonderful team of dogs this kennel has at present.
