Coton De Tulear

I have not judged the breed at Ch Level (non CC) since Paignton 2019, so it was interesting to get my hands on some new dogs. Generally, the entry (although small) was shapely & sound, a few with forelegs that could have been straighter & also a few with less than ideal pigment throughout. The standard asks for a black nose, black lips, black eye rims and black pads. All were presented in super order and had super temperaments.

1ST 1323 - Mopseyscoton Minti Minki ShCEx (Mrs J Scott)

Good start to the day and I thought he was lovely, very good head and expression, correct for balance and shape, very sound and free on the move and well presented. Coat of the correct texture and he was in great order.

1ST 1310 - Mopseyscoton Mini Mccoy at Trinashores (Prof G Giambona)

Lovely puppy, very good head and eye, lovely neck and shoulder, okay forelegs; correct topline for the breed & he is a free, easy and accurate mover. Coat of correct colour for his age and excellent texture. BPIB.

2ND 1307 - Mopseyscoton Ickle Pickle at Applejem (Mr C & Mrs T Cartwright)

Another nice puppy with a good head and eye, sound and accurate on the move, I felt the winner had marginally better forelegs and pigment; shapely body & good angles at both ends. Well presented and handled.

1ST 1308 - Xanthos von Cotonfeeling (Imp Deu) (Mrs Janet Cheshire)

Upstanding young dog who is both masculine and attractive in the same measure. Dark expressive eyes with black rims, and he does have lovely pigment throughout, including on his pads. Very good forelegs and chest, correct topline and he is an accurate, considered mover from all angles. In good coat and condition. BD & BOB.

2ND 1311 - Coton Karma’s Shoot Me Down Bear at Cindaires (Imp Dnk) (Mrs C Hancock)

A lot to like about this one and he does have a beautiful shape to his body; excellent balance & he has a lovely, expressive head. Marginally preferred the forelegs of the winner which were the best on the day; but he too is a good mover from all angles, if not quite the zest of the winner, particularly in profile.

1ST 1309 - Int/bel/nld Ch Cotonkiss Heaven Help Us VW Nlw23 Lux Vch (Mrs C Clarke)

One I have judged before and he is a lovely, upstanding sort. I have admired him in the past and I have not changed my opinion of him, and he belies his years. In lovely coat and condition, very expressive in head with lovely dark eyes, still has good pigment throughout, despite his age; and he is sound and accurate on the move, even if he had a hard time to match the winner going round. I thought he was lovely, RBD and BVIB.

1ST 1314 - Jandoes Wotta About Dottie (Mrs J & Mr D Howsam)

Very nice puppy with a lot going for her. Head is coming on well and should finish nicely. Pigment is acceptable, and she is well boned and bodied. Forelegs are quite good & she has a good chest. Decent topline and hindquarters. She is free moving and sound, particularly in profile and I liked her carriage there. In good coat and condition.

1ST 1312 - Montewhite Lady Velvet Cloud at Cindaires (Imp Pol) (Mrs C Hancock)

Smart bitch with a decent head and expression. Might prefer stronger pigment throughout, but she is very attractive for her make and shape. She has a lovely body & is well made, firm topline and correctly rising and sloping slightly, sound and free on the move; but I might prefer her ever so slightly accurate up and back. In excellent coat and condition, with a correct texture for the breed.

1ST 1320 - Prt/esp/ib Ch Mopseyscoton Fanci Fizzi (Mrs J Pearman)

Very nice bitch, just what I am looking for in the breed for her sex. Lovely shape and type, beautiful head and expression, dark pigment throughout. Best forelegs of the bitches, good depth to her chest & decent ribbing, correct topline for the breed and she is well angulated behind. Sound and free on the move, happy to award her BB and a close call for BOB. In lovely coat of the correct texture and colour.

2ND 1313 - Cotonkiss Wotta A Girl Wants at Jandoes ShCEx (Mrs J & Mr D Howsam)

Also a very nice one with a lot of quality about her. She has a lovely head and eye, though I didn’t think she quite had the pigment throughout of the winner. Forelegs are quite good and she too has a correct topline. Carries herself very well on the move, if not quite the accuracy up and back as the winner. Very shapely and in great nick. RBB.
