Richmond Dog Show Society

Many thanks to Richmond for the kind invitation to judge Miniature Longhaired Dachshunds at their final show in Loseley Park, as they move on to pastures new next year. I was quite pleased with the entry and there were definitely more exhibits to whom I would have been happy to award a CC compared with the last time I judged the variety. Mouths were all excellent, without fail & I felt temperaments were also very good; along with high class presentation right through the entry.

VD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 3210 WOODVINE-SHONE, Miss Hannah Ch Hanishan Fire Cracker, a good start to the day and not surprised to see he is already titled. Lovely houndy head and expression, good strength to his muzzle & excellent pigment. A little heavy through the neck and shoulder, but this was more apparent when he was standing rather than moving. Very good type, sound away and back and moved very well in profile. Certainly one to be proud of and presented in a super jacket. 

MPD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st) PHILLIPS, Mrs J & Mr P Dizzydax's Storming Norman At Summerview, very lovely puppy with a lot to like. Good head and expression with correct pigment for his colour. Good front assembly and he stands on good legs and feet, but perhaps his ribs could go a mite further back for ideal; and he does need to body up ever so slightly. He is so sound on the move and holds the exact same shape moving as he does standing. Most promising, and I will not be surprised to see him go on and gain his title in due course. BPD and BPIB.

1st) PHILLIPS, Mrs J & Mr P Dizzydax's Storming Norman At Summerview, repeat. 

2nd) BRACE, Mrs C Geraldine Allforus Vanilla Ice For Xemxija, I liked this young dog a lot too, felt he had a very correct head and expression & had a lot of strength there. Not quite the front construction or the topline of the winner, but in all other respects I felt he was pretty equal with much to admire. Well-presented and handled. 

3rd) GUNTER, Mrs Kimberley Jade Welingtonway Muffin Man

JD (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st) WHITFIELD-ROBERTS, Mr A Dandydayo Cowboy And Kisses, the competition stepped up a notch here and I was content that I would have had a CC and a ResCC winner in the first two had nothing else appeared in the later classes. This one is just right for size, bone and balance, he has ground clearance without making him look “leggy” and the most beautiful outline when he stands. Very good head and expression, lovely balance to skull and foreface and he is notably houndy. Very clean through the neck and shoulder which is what gave him the edge over 2, and in good nick and muscle all through. Sound and accurate on the move, even if he does have a slight mind of his own! Ultimately the finish and more mature attitude of the OD took the CC from him, but I was very pleased to award him the ResCC and have no doubt he will have a very promising career. 

2nd) Andrew Findowrie The Field Marshal, also liked this young dog very much, typical head and expression with lovely eyes; I didn’t feel he was quite so good in front as the winner in terms of angulation, but he is well ribbed back and he does hold his topline well. A little more forward than the winner for body, and he has very good hindquarters which he uses well on the move. Most promising and will have many good days. 

3rd) NEASBY, Mrs Kim Erinshore Red Robin For Ulani

YD (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st) WOODVINE-SHONE, Miss Hannah Hanishan Starlightexpress, a very smart young dog with a lot to like about him, stood alone but I suspect he can hold his own even in good company. He has a beautiful head and eye, and a lovely expression. Well-made in front, good shoulders and return of upperarm, ribs could perhaps go ever so slightly further back; carries his tail well & is a particularly eye-catching profile mover. Put down in first class order. 

PGD (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st) FAIRCHILD, Rev Andrew Restinim Mr Pip, interesting class as I liked both for different reasons. The winner has a very good head and expression, houndy and masculine. I would prefer slightly better shoulders and return of upperarm, and this did show when he was standing and moving. However, in all other respects I thought he was absolutely lovely and in first class condition. He is very good behind and has a decent side stride. 

2nd) BATER, Miss J All For Show, I preferred the neck and shoulders of this one as opposed to the winner, but I felt he was just lacking a little weight on the day, which pegged him back. He too has a lovely head and eye, and he is a very good mover from all directions. 

3rd) TURVEY, Mrs Carol Hermits Just You To Noakimba

LD (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st) THOMSON, Mr Logan Rivandell Sirius Black JW, eyecatching make and shape, lots to like about this young man, stood alone but I felt he would have taken some beating anyway. I admired his head and eye, houndy and balanced, lovely through the neck and shoulder, firm topline and neat underline; goes so well with a very sound, easy action. Close up in the challenge and I imagine he will have many good days ahead of him. 

OD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 3179 DARE, Mrs And Mrs F And C Hanney-Mitchell And Al Capone Crespalia Bronia (imp Esp), I thought this chap had a super shape and outline; loved his head and eye, super expression and excellent strength to his muzzle. Well laid shoulder and good return of upperarm, plenty of chest & stands on good legs and feet; excellent ground clearance but with no appearance of being leggy or unbalanced. Excellent topline and underline, and carried his tail very well. A sound, proficient mover from all angles, particularly in profile. Very pleased to award him the DCC & just lost out to the enthusiasm of the bitch for BOB on the final go around. I understand this was his 2nd CC, and hopefully his third will not be too far away. 

2nd) HAM, Miss Bryony Minard Darque Red For Devondax JW, I have judged this lovely dog a few times before now and have always admired him. I have not changed my opinion of him, and I think he is a very smart hound, and has a lot going for him. Felt today he was slightly heavy over the shoulder as against the winner, but he is a generally good make and shape and was presented in first class order. 

VB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st) WESTAWAY, Mrs P G Abbilis Maleficent At Treranch, a grand old girl, very typical for shape and outline, liked her expression; enough neck and fairly good feet, firm enough in topline and lovely hammy quarters. A sound, accurate mover and has a lot to like about her. In first class condition and coat. 

PB (3 Entries) Abs: 2

1st) WOODVINE-SHONE, Miss Hannah Jentiki Burnt Toast, I thought this puppy was a really good prospect & should have a very good future. She has all of the essentials, and on going over her there is little you would want to change. Liked her head and general type, a very good mover up and back; she could of course be more settled but she does have time & I imagine when she gets her head into gear she will have many good days.

JB (6 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 3197 POOLE, Mrs M E & FAIRCHILD, Rev Andrew Findowrie Forget Me Not, this was an interesting class as I thought the winner would initially be Lucy Locket when I turned from the table and looked at them stacked. Ultimately, the winner was Forget Me Not as I preferred her head and accuracy on the move, she is a beautiful bitch, such a feminine expression, lovely to go over and her neck and shoulders are very good for the variety. Very accurate up and back and uses herself well in profile; admired her a lot in the class which she won, and in the challenge, she continued to impress me, and so won the RBCC. A very promising youngster. 

2nd) PHILLIPS, Mrs J & Mr P Summerview Lucy Locket JW, I love the shape and outline of this bitch & she is hard to get past in that department. I thought she was lovely to go over, not quite the expression of the winner but she is still attractive there. Her proportions and balance are good, and she is sound on the move; but the winner was just a touch more accurate on the move today up and back. A nice one. 

3rd: 3202 VALENTINE, Mrs Kerry Lampcien Fatal Attraction For Tiffwazz

YB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st) FAIRCHILD, Rev Andrew & POOLE, Mrs M. E. Findowrie Field Of Dreams And Restinim, I liked the shape and outline of this bitch and she is a lovely size. Her head and eye are good, and she is very much all of a piece and correct to go over. In peak body condition, full of muscle & just needs a little more maturity to go all the way. 

2nd) LANDER, Miss Jade Songbirdie In The Thistle, also an attractive bitch with a lot to like. Her head and eye are good, she has enough neck but could perhaps have a better return of upperarm. Stands on good legs and feet, but her nails are too long. A little bigger than the winner which told against her, a good profile mover and carries herself well.

2nd) WOODVINE-SHONE, Miss Hannah Hanishan Solar Express, I thought this glamorous bitch would be the winner on first appraisal as she is a lovely size and shape. I found little to change my mind on going over her, and she is very honest and well made, with a correct head and expression. On the move she is very sound and accurate, but she didn’t seem particularly content in the ring today which told against her. I thought she was lovely and she will have many more good days I am sure. 

3rd) CHURCH, Mrs Kelly Chriskim's Golden Ticket At Floxie

LB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st) WAY, Mrs S Ralines Ways And Means JW, stood alone but another who probably would have taken some beating. I thought she was a very nice bitch and is very typical of the quality this kennel produces, really liked everything about her, and she is such an accurate mover from all directions. Carried her tail just a touch too high in the final run off as against the CC and ResCC winners, but another who I imagine will carry a crown before long. 

OB (7 Entries) Abs: 0

1st) WOOD, Mr Roy Ch Wildstar Wrivera, three nice bitches headed this class; the winner was this beautifully balanced shapely bitch with so much going for her. Excellent head and expression, correct neck and shoulder, excellent keel and she stands on beautiful legs and feet. Super topline and underline, in the peak of condition for both body and muscle; gorgeous hindquarters and such a true mover both directions and in profile. Thought she was absolutely lovely, CC, BOB, and BVIB.

2nd) DARE, Mrs C Larkhund Celtic Rose Darsoms (ikc), completely different type to the winner but with a lot going for her. Delicious head and expression and gorgeous ear fringes! A real glamour girl and in super condition, lovely to go over; not quite the front of the winner on the move but she has excellent hindquarters and is presented to perfection. Close up for ResCC. 

3rd) NORRIS, Mr D W & BROWN, Mrs L M Criscan Que Paso
