Yorkshire Golden Retriever Club – 5th April 2026
Many thanks to the officers and committee of YGRC for the kind invitation to judge males at their championship show. To my two stewards, Martin and Charlotte, who kept everything running smoothly and to the exhibitors for their entry and their sportsmanship. A couple of areas of note on the day were some untypical heads where the soft gentle expression is missing with some untypical eye shapes and the number of incorrect bites would be of major concern.
BABY PUPPY DOG (2,0)
1st Strettonhill Kooky Monster (Miss C & Mr M Taylor & Tenn)
5.5 month old baby with soft head and expression, lovely dark eye and pigment. Good reach of neck well placed shoulders and good return of upper arm. Good bone and neat feet, well developed fore chest for his age. Sightly long in couplings, good width of stifle, level topline and correct tail set and carriage. Just needs time to gain confidence on the move but covers ground well.
2nd Mardargold Trick or Treat (Mr R M & Mrs M J Evans)
5 month old with a soft head and expression, excellent pigment and lovely dark eye. Balanced angles both front and back but would just prefer more return of upper arm and with of stifle. Well off for bone, level top line and moved well for his age.
MINOR PUPPY DOG (6,1)
1st Olvinglay Polari (Imp Ita) (Mrs H & Mr G Morss & Monteverde)
Masculine dog with beautiful head and expression. Excellent bone and neat cat like feet with strong pasterns. Would prefer slightly more return of upper arm. Good depth of chest and spring of rib for his age. Moderate width to stifle. Presented in excellent coat and condition and won this class on straight and true movement front and back.
2nd It Takes Two Anarchia Box Wondertemple (Imp Pol) (Mr M Pietrykowski)
Less mature boy and giving his handler a hard time especially on the move today. Soft head and expression, good reach of neck with well angulated front, would prefer slightly more bone and substance and stronger front pasterns. Slightly longer in loin than winner, level top line with correct tail set and carried well on the move.

1st Sweet Lucky Charm Wonderful Fair Plantagenet (Imp Deu) (Mrs S Jolly)
Going through a change of coat but he has everything in the right place. Melting head and expression with a good reach of neck. Very balanced angles both front and back, level topline good spring of rib, short coupled, good width to stifle moved soundly when settled.
2nd Navilis Shchedryk (Imp Ukr) (Mrs J Gerhold)
Another lovely puppy but just preferred the angles of winner. Good bone and neat feet, level topline, moderate width to stifle moved soundly and straight front and back with correct tail set and carriage.
3rd Olvinglay Polari (Imp Ita) (Mrs H & Mr G Morss & Monteverde)
JUNIOR DOG (5,0)
1st Louellabrook Atlantic Star with Sansue JW (Mrs S & Mrs H Birkin-Green & Gripton)
Masculine head and expression with lovely dark eye and pigment. Good reach of neck with well placed shoulders and good return of upper arm. Good depth of chest with well developed fore chest. Good bone and neat feet. Well sprung ribs, short coupled and good width to stifle. Level top line held on the move with correct tail carriage, covered the ground with reach and drive. Presented in excellent coat and condition. Pressed hard in the final challenge for top honours but had just lost some of his sparkle on the move.
2nd Terra Di Siena Sunset over The Horizon for Amirene (Mrs M I Woods)
Very close to number one with similar attributes and there is a lot to like about this boy, just preferred return of upper arm on winner. Soft head and expression with a good reach of neck. Good depth of chest, level top line, good width to stifle presented in excellent coat and condition. Moved well covering ground with ease. I am sure these two boys will change places many times

1st Oppenheimer Olgarchia JW (Imp Pol) (Mrs H & Mr G Morss & Monteverde)
Won this class on movement. Masculine head and expression with lovely dark eye and pigment. Good reach of neck, well placed shoulders and good return of upper arm. Good bone and neat feet. Good depth of chest, short coupled, good width of stifle , level top line with correct tail set and carriage, presented in excellent coat and condition.
2nd Haydengold Backchat JW (Mr J H & Miss M J Knight & Cooke)
Lovely balanced dog with excellent bone and neat cat like feet, good depth of chest, slightly longer cast than winner. Good width to stifle, level top line with correct tail set and carriage, giving handler a hard time on the move but when settled covered ground well, another who should have a bright future.

Winner of minor puppy and third in puppy.
2nd Hoaaloha Sandpiper (Mrs F V Bell)
Third in minor puppy. Masculine head and expression with lovely dark eye and pigment. Moderate reach of neck, good depth of chest, tight elbows, short coupled, good width to stifle, needs time for topline to settle, correct tail set and carriage, moved well for his age.

1st Amilone Smokin Barrel at Salako (Mrs P & Mr K Wooden)
Masculine head and expression with lovely dark eye and pigment, moderate reach of neck, well placed shoulders and good return of upper arm. Good bone, would prefer tighter front pasterns. Good depth of chest, slightly long in loin, good width to stifle, level top line with correct tail set and carried well on the move. Moved true front and back when settled.
2nd Ambersun Winter Storm (Mr N & Mrs M Mears)
Masculine head and expression. Moderate bone, would prefer tighter front pasterns, good depth of chest, level top line, good spring of rib, good width to stifle, correct tail set and carriage, just needed more return of upper arm to balance angles with rear and give more reach in front movement.
3rd Waterbabies Walk Tall at Hectson (Imp Ita) (Mrs S & Mr C Webb & Smith)

1st Baricia Bella Divino JW (Mrs S & Mrs M Towers & Henderson)
Masculine head and expression, good reach of neck, well placed shoulders and good return of upper arm. Good bone and depth of chest. Slightly long in loin and carrying a little too much weight today, better rear movement. Good width of stifle, correct tail set and carriage, well muscled which he used to his advantage on the move. Would prefer more length of leg.
2nd Dewmist Danzatore with Ousevale JW (Imp Swe) (Mrs V Clarke-Gear)
Masculine head and expression, shorter neck, well laid back of shoulder, good depth of chest, good bone and neat feet. Good spring of rib, slightly long in loin, well bent stifles, moved well when settle, just preferred strength of rear movement of winner.

Masculine head and expression with lovely eye and pigment. Well angulated front, good bone and depth of chest. Level top line held on the move, short coupled, good width to stifle, correct tail set and carriage, presented in hard muscular condition and lovely mid gold coat. Covered the ground with reach and drive.
2nd Graceleigh Legend of Tarzan (Mr M P & Mrs D J Vernon)
Smaller frame than winner. Masculine head and expression. Good reach of neck well placed shoulders, moderate return of upper arm, good depth of chest, lighter in bone, short coupled, good width of stifle, level topline with correct tail set, well muscled and presented in good coat and condition.

Masculine head and expression, good reach of neck, well placed shoulders and good return of upper arm. Good depth of chest and spring of rib, slightly long in loin, good width of stifle, correct tail set and carriage, moved ok, would just like a little more animation.
2nd Mossburn Galloping Major JW (Mrs S H Pounds-Longhurst)
Masculine head but maintaining a soft expression. Good reach of neck, balanced angles both front and back, would prefer stronger pasterns, good depth of chest, level topline and good width to stifle, correct tail set but carrying high on the move, Covered ground well.

1st Akenscales Waterloo (Mrs H & Mr J Bates)
Masculine head and expression, good pigment and nice dark eye. Good reach of neck although would prefer more lay back of shoulder. Good depth of chest, good bone and neat feet. Level top line, short coupled and good width of stifle, good length of leg. Level top line with correct tail carriage, would just prefer a little more animation on the move.
2nd Alibren Rock Legend for Ashiqua (Mr D J & Mr P Harvey & Anderson)
Another well balanced dog just preferred length of leg of winner. Good reach of neck, well placed shoulders and good return of upper arm. Good depth of chest and well developed fore chest. Short coupled, good width to stifle, level top line and correct tail set and carriage, moved well covering ground with ease.

1st Dewmist Dream Weaver JW Sgwc (Miss Dr E Bardossy)
Caught my eye on the first walk round and he did not disappoint when going over him. Masculine head with lovely dark eye and pigment maintaining that soft expression. Good reach of neck well placed shoulders and good return of upper arm. Good depth of chest and well developed fore chest. Good spring of rib, short coupled, strong level top line. Good width to stifle, correct tail set and carriage. Moves well when settled but on occasions giving handler a hard time. Overall very balanced. Delighted to award him the CC, his third and becoming a full champion, and on referees decision BIS.
2nd Int Sh Ch/Cro/Aus/Se Ch Dewmist Just A Spell Jww 21 H Jch (Miss Dr E Bardossy)
Another masculine dog, with good reach of neck. Well placed shoulders and good return of upper arm, slightly longer cast that winner. Strong level top line, good width to stifle. Good bone and neat feet. Correct tail set and carriage, just, lost out to winner on the move today. Presented in hard muscular condition.

Good width of stifle. Covered ground with ease. Presented in good coat and condition. BV and with my co-judges agreement BVIS.
2nd Ousevale Tobermory JW (Mrs V Clarke-Gear)
Masculine to head and expression. Good reach of neck, well placed shoulders and good return of upper arm. Good bone and neat feet, would prefer more length of leg to balance picture. Good depth of chest and well developed fore chest. Good spring of rib, slightly longer cast than winner. Good width of stifle, level top line and correct tail carriage, giving handler a hard time on the move.
