NEWS 12th April 2026- Special Awards

Thank you very much to the NEWS committee for the invitation to judge the special awards classes. Thank you very much also to those who entered and brought their lovely dogs today, it was a pleasure to judge them. 

R M W Finch Special Award Junior Dog or Bitch

1. Dyer & Oddie’s Rivertone Wicked for Sharnphilly JW- This is a smart bitch who stood away in this class. I liked her for her balance and correct length to height proportions. She flows all through. Moved well and beautifully handled. 

2. Porter- Manning & Porter’s Wallaroo Betelgeuse- This dog didn’t initially catch my eye however his sound, positive movement put him above the others in this class. He has a good length of neck which flows into a correct, level top line. He still has a bit of maturing to do but he, of course, has plenty time on his side for this.

Gunalt Special Award Open

1. West’s Sh Ch Gunalt Wavelength JW ShCEx OSW- This is a super bitch who is in her prime. She is very balanced and has the correct body proportions. Good size with the substance required of a Weimaraner but still retaining her femininity. Very sound and accurate mover.

2. Kelly’s Vansant Vixen- This bitch was playing up her owner today but managed to hold it together long enough to show good movement! She has a feminine head showing a lovely kind and intelligent expression. She is another with a good depth of chest and length of rib. Correct tail set and carriage.
