Scottish Kennel Club
I would like to thank the Committee for inviting me to judge Whippet Bitches at the Scottish Kennel Club. This was my first CC appointment in the breed, and what a wonderful first appointment it was. I was delighted by the depth of quality throughout the entry and would like to thank all the exhibitors for placing their trust in me.
I was truly spoilt for choice in several classes, particularly the Open Bitch class, where the quality made for some difficult decisions. I was extremely pleased with my final line-up and felt privileged to assess so many worthy exhibits.
I hope my co-judge, Fiona Finch, enjoyed her first appointment as much as I did. I enjoyed our discussions when considering the main awards.

1. Falconcrag Made You Look (S & D Wilson)
This proved to be a particularly interesting class. On my initial assessment, I would not have expected the final placings to end as they did. However, the more I moved the class, the more this bitch demanded my attention, as her name suggests, she did make me look. For me this fawn bitch has a classic look and is of correct size, she has a nice head with good proportions and a dark oval eye, scissor bite, width between the eyes, small rose shaped ears, good length of neck into well laid shoulder, balanced angulation, deep chest with fill, forelegs straight with slight spring to pasterns, correct flat muscle, gentle curves, well developed second thigh, moved true showing freedom of action.

1. Ch Crème Anglaise’s Entourage with Silkridge JW (Mrs C & Mr K Perkins & Van Der Schaaf)
What can I say about this brindle/white bitch, she just caught my eye as she entered the ring for her breed type, correct proportions, size and attitude. Your hands just flow over this bitch, nothing is exaggerated, she has a feminine head, long and lead that tapers towards the muzzle, dark oval eye, scissor bite, small rose shaped ears of correct texture, long elegant neck into an excellent front assembly, flat muscles, well filled in front, straight forelegs with slight spring to pasterns, good deep chest, well sprung ribs, definite tuck up with graceful arch over loin, well developed second thigh, stifles well bent, oval feet, long tapering tail. She came alive on the move demonstrating an easy long stride whilst being driven from the rear, she moves true on the up and down, all whilst holding the correct shape, I could have watched her move all day. A bitch of exceptional quality, and one I was very pleased to award the CC. For Best of Breed, the decision went to the referee, who awarded the honour to the Dog CC winner.
2. Crème Anglaise's Entourage On Tour (Mr Jw & Mrs H. Akerboom & Peters)
This bitch was not present in the ring at the start of the class due to a clash with the handler's dog class but her arrival added a new dimension and provided a serious challenge to my eventual winner. From that moment, I knew I had an exciting decision ahead of me. This feminine brindle bitch is another from the top draw, again there is nothing exaggerated about her, she possesses elegance, breed type, and correct proportions. She is feminine all through with a beautiful head and dark oval eye, scissor bite, small rose shaped ears of correct texture, long elegant neck into well laid-back shoulder, deep chest, good spring of rib, straight forelegs with slight spring to pastern, gentle curves and balanced angulation. Well-developed second thigh and long tail. She like the winner, is a complete showgirl, moving with easy long strides demonstrating reach and drive in profile and true coming and going. It was a very close decision but there was just something that caught my attention with first. I was very pleased through to award this bitch the RCC and later found out that she is the litter sister to my CC, the breeder must be very proud of these two top quality girls.
