English Springer Spaniels, Scottish Kennel Club All Breed Championship Show 2026
Thank you to Scottish Kennel Club for inviting me to judge. I very much enjoyed the appointment. Thank you to my very efficient steward for keeping the ring running despite being on his own.
PD (2,1)
1. Macbain, Harrison & Bellamy, Moontorn Drops Of Jupiter With Fecimus
Sweet puppy to start the day. This seven month boy was certainly merry and active. He has a balance head with good strength to his muzzle, nicely arched neck into well laid shoulder and good length of upper arm. He has good bone and tight feet. His ribs are well sprung and he held his top line well. Good tail carriage. Slightly erratic on the move but he has plenty of time, liked him a lot.

1. Jenkinson, Eastriding Royal Gold
Really liked his overall balance, pleasing head and expression, he is impressive when standing. Very good neck and shoulder placement, well ribbed with deep chest and good width between his front legs. He has a strong loin and good strength to his hindquarters. He was impressive on the move, holding his topline and showing reach and drive. Stepped up in the challenge to claim the RCC.
2. Hill, Teignvalley New Beginnings JW ShCEx OSW
Typical head with good strength and length to muzzle. Correct shaped dark eyes giving a lovely soft expression. He is balanced all through but was today moving rather close in front. Very well presented.

1. Tolladay, Chanangel Yorkshire Ale With Bethersden JW
Impressive L/W male. He presents a very balanced outline standing, his head is masculine but not overdone with good length and depth to his muzzle. Correct neck and shoulder placement, good width between his front legs. Ribs well sprung and strong well angulated hindquarters. Correct bone with tight feet. On the move, he displayed reach and drive, holding his topline with correct tail carriage. Beautifully presented. DCC & BOB, later Group 2, Congratulations!
2. Stevenson, Peasblossom Brogan at Gaolachcara
He has an all male head, soft expression with dark eyes. Good depth to muzzle and well set ears. Neck of good length, shoulders well laid back. He keeps his topline and tail carriage on the move and moves around the ring with enthusiasm.
3. Scourgie & McNicol, Pinereoch Mischief Maker.
OD (4)
1. Tracz, Beresford On My Way With Acregate
L/W male who today seemed a bit confused by the swapping of handlers which affected him both on the move and standing. Pleasing head with kind expression, strong slightly arched neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Good depth of chest and well off for bone. Super topline and strong loin, well set tail. In lovely coat and condition.
2. Darling, Sh Ch Elazlan Billy Kimber
This B/W male has a lovely head and expression with well shaped dark eyes. He has good depth and length of muzzle with the desired chiselling and fluting, correct ear set with long leathers. He has a slight arch and strength to his neck, good bone and compact feet. Moderately angled fore and aft, he is well ribbed and shows good depth to chest. Well presented, I felt he could have moved out better in a larger ring.
3. Wilson & Connor, Sh Ch Pinereoch No Stunts Larrie.

Pretty L/W puppy with good bone and substance. Feminine head and expression with dark eyes. Well balanced overall, presenting a lovely flowing outline. Won here on her correct front movement. BPIB.
2. Keely, Alhambian’s Sally Traffic
Very different type to 1, she is compact and strongly built, with good angulation and she is well ribbed. Good strength in her hindquarters. Movement a little erratic but she has a lot of sparkle!
3. Wallis, Savell & Osbourne, Petranella Strike It Rich
JB (2) Two very different types here.
1. Nicklin, Bellamy & Nicklin, Sieger’s She’s A Classic For Wythnick (Imp Dan)
Very much one for the future, she is at the ‘legs and wings’ stage. Super neck and front assembly. Won here on her lovely free movement.
2. Hill, Peasblossom Emotions With Teignvalley
B/W, more mature than 1 and I preferred her feminine head and lovely soft expression. Very well presented and handled. Today she lacked drive when moving.
PGB (7,1) Great class, I was splitting hairs here.
1. Havard, Havard & Corbett, Annavah Ablaze
Very eye catching typical L/W. Balanced overall, she has good bone and tight feet. Strong arched neck which flows into well angulated shoulders. Came alive on the move showing reach and drive, held her topline well. Nicely presented.
2. Nicklin, Daenerys Girl On Fire At Dexbenella JW
Close up to 1, she has a pleasing head and expression with a deep muzzle. Strong neck and good layback of shoulder. Strong well muscled hindquarters, super condition and presentation. Moving she was a real handful but showed good reach and drive.

Well made all through, she presents a balanced outline. Good strong neck, well laid shoulders with plenty of width and depth to her chest. She is well ribbed, has a strong loin and muscular hindquarters. Very nice tight feet. When moving, shows reach and drive, just a little proud of her tail.
2. Rose, Pinereoch Amethyst Of Rosannoch
This L/W has matured well since I last saw her. Beautifully presented, she has a pretty head and expression and presents a balanced outline standing. Well laid shoulders and matching hind angulation. She moved well with reach and drive.

OB (5) This class gave me goosebumps, I was really spoilt for choice. It was an honour to judge these beautiful girls.
1. Corbett, Sh Ch Trimere Time Flys
Now fully mature and at her best, this L/W was on top form today. She has an elegant head with depth and strength to her muzzle, well developed nostrils and the desired chiselling below her eyes. She has correct ear set with ears of good length, her neck is strong and well arched and flows into well laid shoulders. Her chest is of good width and depth, she is well off for bone and has strong tight feet. She has good strength and muscle to her hindquarters and has a strong loin which shows in her powerful movement. In great coat and condition. BCC
2. Smith, Sh Ch Melverly Vignette
Very different type to 1 but also has many virtues. She has a feminine head with the darkest of eyes and the desired fluting and chiselling giving a lovely soft expression. So balanced in her outline with well laid shoulders, deep chest, well ribbed. She has a strong loin and rear angulation which matches her front. Her movement is a joy to watch, it looks effortless. RCC
3. Chandler, Sh Ch Elazlan Coronation Day JW.
