Breed: Samoyed
Birmingham National Dog Show 10th May 2026 My thanks to the Committee of the National for inviting me to judge Samoyeds. Also, many thanks to all the exhibitors who entered under me, it is much appreciated. I am sorry it was a touch cold outside, however, thank you for making the best of it. I have not been around the Samoyed ring for quite a while and was struck by how variable our breed has become both in size and type. Having said that, I had some lovely dogs to go over making some decisions very close. Class 3354 Special Beginners Dog 2 (0) Two very different dogs here although of similar age at very different stages of maturity. 1. Adams Kensesqui Blini by Saroxsha. Substantial masculine boy who won this class on movement and maturity. Strong head with good flat skull. A good length of neck. Good leg to body proportions, dept of chest and tail set. Good quality bone and nice slope of pastern. Would prefer a bit more muscle tone. 2. Helm’s Annecy’s Mischievious Max. A medium size boy with good proportions but still very much growing into himself. A slow maturer as is normal for samoyeds. Moderate bone with a lovely wedge head, super eye shape. Did not move out as well as 1 on the day. Class 3355 Minor Puppy Dog 1 (0) 1. Mann & Mann’s Vandreem Imperial Linken. Well developed 7 month old boy with a lovely plush coat and a glorious tail. Good muscling for age but still a little loose on the move which is to be expected at this age. I am sure he will mature well. I was pleased to award him BPIB. Class 3556 Puppy Dog 1 (1) Class 3357 Junior Dog 3 (1) 1. Forster & Forster’s Artsam Shining Future Hiro for Hakumichi More mature looking boy which gave him the edge on his brother at this time. Moved out well and with drive. Good wedge head with well set eye and ear giving him a lovely masculine expression. Well proportioned leg to body and strong loin. Well presented and lovely feet. 2. Honey & Hunt’s Artsam Bring The Moon. Leggier boy who still needs to mature. Good proportions leg to body and angulation correct. Slightly finer head than his brother but strong loin and good feet. Slightly better muscle tone than 1. I am sure they will change place on another day. Class 3358 Post Graduate Dog 3 (0) 1. Dent’s Bondsmoor Wolf Moon Into Snowsense. A lot to like about this boy but he does struggle with concentration. Medium size boy with super plush coat. Medium bone throughout. Angulation front and back well matched along with leg to body proportion. Super masculine head with a lovely eye set. Tail lovely and super pasterns. Moved out well. 2. Woodhead & Woodhead’s Nikara It’s Kamochi with Pashka. Slightly smaller and finer boy but absolutely beautiful eye set, good flat skull. Good overall proportions leg to body. Moved out well, In lovely coat and well presented. 3. Wilson’s Croftdouglas Brave Bundle Class 3359 Limit Dog 3 (0) 1. Shepherd & Shepherd’s Samhaven Driftin High to Shianise. Medium size boy in full coat with the best muscling in this class. Nice masculine wedge head with appropriate stop and good ear set. Strong loin and good depth of chest. Lovely tail set. Good angulation overall. Moved out best in class. Pleased to award him RCC. 2. Adams Kensesqui Blini by Saroxsha. See Class 3354. 3.
