I would like to thank the Committee for the invitation to judge Löwchens at this year's show. It was a pleasure to start the day assessing such a happy, engaging breed and I am grateful to all the exhibitors for accepting my decisions so graciously. The friendly atmosphere both in and around the ring was a credit to everyone involved and made the appointment particularly enjoyable. My sincere thanks also go to my Ring Stewards, Grant Hughes and Wayne Patterson, whose efficiency, good humour and teamwork ensured the ring ran seamlessly throughout the day.

1ST 3261 - Golbourne’s Valentino (Miss A Maguire)
Promising nine-month-old youngster who presents a typical outline and balanced proportions, with a pleasing head of good proportions, large dark rounded eyes giving the alert, intelligent expression so characteristic of the breed and well-placed ears. Nicely made throughout, his puppy coat developing well for his age. Moved freely and positively in profile although a little untidy coming towards today. Beautifully presented and handled. BSB
2ND 3263 - Quintix Mistletoe and Wine (Miss L Mcfarlane)
Just seven months old and very much enjoying his day out. Full of confidence and character, displaying the happy, outgoing temperament that is so typical of the breed. More compact in outline at present than the winner and giving his handler a hard time today, making him difficult to assess fully, particularly on the move. A delightful baby.

1ST 3268 - Arfenco’s Warrior King Ivar for Hollinsclose (Mrs D A & Miss Z A Richardson)
Ten-month-old dog who presents a pleasing overall picture and is developing well. Attractive masculine head with good expression, although I would prefer a slightly shorter muzzle and a larger, rounder eye. Well placed ears, good topline and correctly carried tail, with just the plume resting neatly on the back. Moderately angulated throughout and moved true both coming and going, showing typical light, free action. Coat developing well for his age. Beautifully presented and handled. BP

1ST 3266 - Melcia Pandamonium (Mr M A & Mrs P Parrington)
Two-year-old dog of pleasing breed type who was determined to give his handler a hard time today. Masculine head of good proportions, although I would prefer a slightly shorter muzzle. Rounded eyes giving a pleasing expression. Correct outline with moderate angulation throughout. Topline could be firmer. Although moving true coming and going, I would have liked a little more freedom in profile. Correct coat, well presented.

1ST 3259 - Ch Jameneli Back to Black (Mrs J Graham)
Not quite three years old who immediately appealed for his typical outline, balance and overall quality. Attractive masculine head with large, dark rounded eyes producing the wonderful expression that is so characteristic of the breed. Well fringed ears. Black nose. Correct firm topline and excellent tail carriage with just the plume resting on the back. Well constructed throughout with balanced angulation. Excellent coat and presented in first-class condition. Moved with the light, effortless action called for in the standard, maintaining his outline at all times with proud head and tail carriage. Beautifully presented and expertly handled. BD & BOB
2ND 3269 - Hollinsclose As It Was (Mrs D A & Miss Z A Richardson)
Another quality dog of pleasing breed type who presented a typical outline. Attractive head, although I would prefer a slightly shorter muzzle and larger, rounder eyes to complete the expression. Well balanced throughout with moderate angulation, good topline and correctly carried tail. Coat of pleasing texture. Moved freely in profile but was a little untidy coming towards today. Well presented and handled. RBD

1ST 3262 - Kerryken Keir Rob ShCEx (Miss L Mcfarlane)
Nine-and-a-half-year-old who certainly belies his age. Well-proportioned head with pleasing rounded eyes, black nose and well fringed ears. Slightly longer in body than ideal. Coat of silky texture. Moderately angulated throughout and moved soundly. A credit to his owner for keeping him in such good condition.

1ST 3271 - Hollinsclose Wild Rose (Mrs D A & Miss Z A Richardson)
A very promising youngster who immediately appealed for her lovely outline, balance and happy attitude. Feminine head with pleasing proportions, lovely dark rounded eyes giving a typical alert expression, although I would prefer a fraction less muzzle. Moderate, balanced angulation and a well-carried tail. Typical puppy coat. Once settled she moved with an easy, free action. Beautifully presented and lovely attentiveness to her handler. A close decision for Best Puppy but she was just a little unsettled in the challenge.
2ND 3264 - Quintrix Holly Berry (Miss L Mcfarlane)Only six months old and very much a baby, full of confidence and enjoying every minute in the ring. Feminine throughout and finer in build than the winner. Pleasing head, although I would prefer a slightly shorter muzzle and larger, rounder eyes to complete the typical expression. Nicely balanced for her age. Very enthusiastic on the move but when she settled, showed sound, free movement. Sympathetically handled.

1ST 3270 - Hollinsclose Love Machine (Mrs D A & Miss Z A Richardson)
Twenty-month-old bitch of pleasing breed type. Feminine head with one of the better muzzle-to-skull proportions of the day, black nose and well fringed ears. I would prefer slightly larger, rounder eyes to complete the expression. Firm topline and correctly carried tail. Moderate angulation throughout and a coat of correct texture despite the windy conditions making presentation difficult at times. Moved well in profile and maintained her lovely outline. Beautifully handled. BB & BOS
