BEARDED COLLIE

My previous appointment with the breed was at Southern Counties Championship Show in 2016. Times are different now – at SC I had an entry of some 140 Bearded Collies and 49 at Paignton.

Back in 2016 I was impressed with the depth of quality and I must say I was also more than happy with the current quality. I went over many good dogs and this always gives me great pleasure. I was very happy with my BOB winner and delighted to find out that my delightful young CC winning bitch is by the dog I awarded the ticket to at SC – CH. Potterdale Platinum Plus.

Thank you for yet another enjoyable appointment in the breed and pleasant atmosphere in the ring.

Class SBD/B (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: O’BRIEN, Mrs Sarah Clanwillow Crown Princess At Gilcharma, three year old feminine very nice quality bitch of very good type. Correct length. Pleasing head, eye and expression. Sound mover, but a little proud of her tail on the move. Best Special Beginner

2nd: STEELE, Mrs Penny Rocpen Juro Twill Of Dosetshyre, four year old nice bitch of very good type. A little narrow in front. Feminine head and very good expression. Too narrow in front movement. Good coat quality.

3rd: HASKELL, Mrs Angela Eltimaris Hang Out The Flags

Class PD (6 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: WALDRON, Ms Justine & GRAY, Ms Alice Snowmead Secret Service, seven month old very neat young man. I do not think I have ever met such a well schooled and well behaved Beardie puppy! Excellent promising outline. Correct length of ribcage. Good skull, would like slightly better stop. Good eye and expression. Very soundly made and grown, pleasing on the move. Best Puppy

2nd: GROSTATE, Mr Edwin & GROSTATE, Mrs Jane Balnaid Majic By My Side, eight month old very nice puppy dog. Very good type, correct length. Pleasing head, eye and expression. This puppy is also very nicely made. Sound mover.

3rd: TIBBETTS, Mr J J Garrity & Miss A E Potterdale Taylor Plus

Class JD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: BURGON, Mrs Lyndsay & BURGON, Mr Andrew & BURGON, Talraz Drumbeat For Lyngem JW, 15 month old lovely quality young dog. Masculine of excellent type and good length. Masculine head of very good shape, pleasing eye and expression. Correct neck and topline. Just a little chubby. Excellent coat. Free mover.

2nd: BAKER, Miss M J & VAN DE HOEF, Miss Rianne Malandex Xciting Legacy, 13 month old masculine male. Very good head, would like better mouth. Needs slightly better front and his topline is a little soft. Medium length ribcage and moderate rear angulation. Would like to see better front extension.

Class YD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: BAKER, Miss M J & VAN DE HOEF, Miss Rianne Malandex Xciting Image, 13 month old, litter brother to 2nd. in Junior Dog. Lovely quality masculine youngster who promises well for the future. Very nicely put together and very sound. Beautiful head of correct skull/muzzle proportions, very typical eye and expression. Well made front and good length of ribcage. Very typical and pleasing outline. Excellent mover. Correct coat quality.

2nd: LEWIS, Mrs Janet & LEWIS, Mr Michael Potterdale Prime Legacy, another super quality young dog who was not performing well on the day. 19 month old masculine male whose type is very correct. Beautiful male head, excellent eye. Good bone. Super topline, well made body and ribcage of good length. Not happy on the move.

Class PGD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: HASKELL, Mrs Angela Eltimaris Hang Out The Flags, this dog was third in SBD/B. three year old up-to-size male who I would prefer with better balance. Nice head, medium eye. Narrow in front movement. Good coat quality. Unfortunately a very gaily carried tail on the move, which spoilt his outline.

Class LD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: WEBB, Mrs J & WEBB, Mr L Eltimaris Hip Hip Hooray, four year old masculine pleasing male of lovely breed type and good proportions. Very nice quality head, well put together and has a lovely long ribcage. Pleasing mover. Excellent coat quality.

2nd: RUDD, Miss Verity J Lubin's London Calling, six year old masculine male. Correct head shape, beautiful typical eye and expression. Would like him a little longer in ribcage and shorter in loin. Topline a little soft. Good coat quality.

Class OD (6 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: SALMON, Mrs Jennifer & SALMON, Mr William Ch Potterdale Heritage ShCEx, six year old super quality male with plenty to like about him. Excellent type, proportions and so very well made. Correct size. Masculine beautiful head, very good eye and expression. Beautifully balanced and an excellent mover. Excellent presentation. Very good coat quality and condition. CC & Best of Breed

2nd: HOLLIS, Mr A Adjucet Tale As Old As Time, seven year old masculine male. Very pleasing type and lovely outline. Quality head, kind eye and good expression. Would like his muzzle a tad stronger. Moves very well, although I would prefer a little more front extension. Plenty to like about him too. Res. CC

3rd: PICKUP, Mr & Mrs I & S Kiltondale Heat Of The Night Jw

Class VD (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: SALMON, Mrs Jennifer & SALMON, Mr William Ch Potterdale Piper, eight and half year old masculine veteran shown in excellent order. Bigger dog, but very well balanced. Good skull, would like slightly better marked stop. Very good eye and expression. Correct topline. Would like better front extension, but has good drive behind.

Class PB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: LEWIN, Mr M Potterdale Phuture Plus, eight and half month old feminine pretty bitch puppy who was handled to advantage. Nice head, front needs more time for development. Goody body and length. Moved very well in profile.

2nd: BROOKS, Miss P & GRUNDY, Mr S Briarsfield Dark Butterfly For Fraglestone, 11 month old bitch puppy in need of more training. Just a little narrow all through at this stage. Nice head, but needs better stop. Narrow coming and going.

Class JB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: RUDD, Miss Verity J Briery Knob Home To Lubin (Imp USA), 14 month old feminine junior. Pleasing type, but tail carriage spoils her otherwise nice outline. Very good head, eye and expression. Neck should flow better into shoulders. Needs a lot more practice on the move. Her tail carriage is far too high and spoils her outline.

Class YB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: LEWIS, Mr Mike & LEWIS, Mrs Janet & MORELAND, Mrs Potterdale Prime Rose JW, my notes say two lovely young bitches. How nice to find out they are litter sisters! Little to separate these two. Prime Rose is so utterly feminine from top to toe and just took my breath away when I set my eyes on her. Oozes type. Very beautiful feminine head. So very well put together. Has very correct typical movement and carries herself to advantage. Excellent coat quality. I was happy to award her a very well deserved CC. Still young and had to bow today to the handsome, mature male. Will watch her development with interest.

2nd: BAKER, Miss M J & VAN DE HOEF, Miss Rianne Potterdale Prime Xample At Malandex, very similar to her litter sister. Slightly bigger and would look even better in slightly firmer condition. Super type. Beautiful head, lovely eye and expression. Excellent coat quality. Sound, typical mover.

2nd: ABBOTT, Mrs A M Clanwillow Crown Of Hearts, three and half year old feminine bitch. Endearing temperament. Lovely head, eye and expression. Would like a better front on her. Carries a lot of coat. A little heavy on the move.

3rd: PATTERSON, Mr S & Mrs J Eltimaris Jubilee Hoorah JW

1st: RIVERS, Miss Julie Ch Orora's French Silk At Merrimak JW ShCEx OSW, almost five year old very beautiful bitch of lovely type and balance. Excellent head, beautiful eye and expression. Very good neck and topline. Carries a correct amount of good quality coat. Super mover. Res. CC

2nd: BURGON, Mrs Lyndsay & BURGON, Mr Andrew Ch Corimist Caissa At Lyngem JW, four year old beautiful bitch built on longer lines. Quality feminine head, very good eye and expression. Excellent length of ribcage, topline a little soft. Very good mover.

3rd: BETTS, Mr & Mrs M & L J Ch Pipadene Xtraa Hint Of Chili JW

Class VB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: PATTERSON, Mr S & Mrs J Corimist Musical Soul At Eltimaris VW, 11 year old veteran bitch shown in excellent condition for her age. Teeth in exemplary condition. Her type and proportions are lovely. Beautiful head, eye and expression. For perfection I would like a little more extension on the move, but overall a very nice veteran. Best Veteran

2nd: HOLLIS, Mr A Pretty Bear Wild Flower Mit Adjucet, 13 year old veteran bitch in great condition for her age and a credit to her owner. Feminine veteran of very good type. Carries a wealth of coat; I was informed she is spayed. Very good mover for her grand age.
