I would like to thank Paignton Show Committee for their kind invitation to judge a number of breeds at their three day Championship Show. As I had three CC breeds + a Stakes class to judge on the first day I am sorry I did not have a chance to speak to exhibitors. It was very nice to have Bernese Mountain Dogs first in the ring on the first day! I last judged the breed at Blackpool in 2017, so nine years had passed from my previous appointment in the breed. This breed appears to be in good hands and type overall was pleasing. Your very hot English summer had played havoc with coats, but then they come and go. Fronts remain problematic generally everywhere and need improving. My top winners pleased me enormously. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable morning with the breed.

Class 17 PD (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: BRIDGES, Mrs Shandy Kernow Contraband, seven month old dog puppy of lovely type. Masculine, balanced for his age and shows promise. A little headstrong and needs more training. Very nice head, would like better marked stop, pleasing eye and expression. Very good bone, nicely put together and quality tan markings. Moved well. I see he is by my Best Veteran. Best Puppy

2nd: BRIDGES, Mrs Shandy Kernow Winter Woolly, also seven months old, a day younger than 1st. Puppy of very nice type, but not as co-ordinated as 1st. Needs to firm up. Pleasing head, medium brown eye, would like slightly better mouth. Topline a little soft.

Class 20 PGD (5 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: ELLIS, Mrs J S Kernow Sealion At Fitzford, 2,5 years old strong male of excellent type. Masculine and pleasing. Excels in head qualities, very lovely eye and expression. Quality bone. Excellent body and rear, but needs better shoulders. Warm, beautiful tan markings. Typical & sound mover.

2nd: COOKE, Mrs Penny & STEVENS, Mr James Tickbern Ridin The Moon, three year old smaller, but masculine male coming back to coat. Very good quality head, pleasing dark eye. Would like better front, has enough body, moderate rear angulation. Needs to settle in front movement.  

3rd: AUSTEN, Miss Mandy Norburylou Karias Star

Class 21 LD (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: JONES, Miss Kate Collansues Abracadabra, five year old strong, big male of very lovely type. Very good skull and strong muzzle, medium brown eye, would like slightly better expression. Super bone and excellent body & ribcage. Excellent rear. Just a little broad coming towards you. Uses his tail very typically. Good tan and correct coat texture. Moved very well in profile. Res.CC

2nd: WORT, Mrs Gloria & WORT, Mr Richard Meadowpark What A Dream At Glorybern JW, three year old male of very nice type. Quality head, kind eye and lovely expression. Could carry himself to better advantage. Good bone. Decent topline. Coat in excellent condition. Moved well in profile. Correct warm tan markings.

Class 22 OD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: MANIX, Mrs Abbie & ENGLISH, Mrs Emily & MANIX, Mr Ch Waldershelf Bjorn To Be King JW ShCEx OSW, just three year old beautiful breed representative who I liked a great deal. Super quality, very typical head and wonderful kind eye & excellent expression. Excellent strong bone. Super ribcage, body and well angulated rear. Just a tad loose in front movement, excellent drive behind and moved very well going round the ring. Very good tan markings. Lovely quality male I was pleased to award the CC and BOB.

2nd: COOKE, Mrs Penny & STEVENS, Mr James Tickbern Yardhand, six year old male, out of coat and carrying a little surplus weight. Masculine, correct size. Good skull, would like stronger muzzle. Medium bone. Needs a slightly better rear. Tan colour a little light.

Class 23 VD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 18 BIRD, Ms K Ch Cullumbern Milano JW ShCEx OSW, eight year old male of lovely type. Masculine, presented in his summer jacket. Wonderful head, dark eye and very good expression. Nicely angulated quarters which he used well on the move. Medium tan markings. Best Veteran

2nd: 19 BRIDGES, Mrs Shandy Ch Kernow Troublue, eight and half year old heavy veteran male. His coat is too curly. Pleasing quality head, correct stop. Medium brown eye. His topline is a little soft. Close going away.

Class 24 PB (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 23 BRIDGES, Mrs Shandy Kernow Booty, sister to my Best Puppy. Coat rather curly at this stage. Head is breaking well, would like a little more strength in muzzle, correct mouth. Nice bone. Pleasing quarters and moved quite well. Correct warm tan.

Class 25 JB (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 26 COOKE, Mrs Penny & STEVENS, Mr James Tulipanos Berni Quintina Quinta At Tickbern, an import from Hungary, I believe. 15 month old young bitch, who could be handled to better advantage. Feminine of very nice type. Typical head, dark eye a tad small. Quality bone and neat feet. Very good body and rear. Sound mover. 

2nd: 41 OLIVER BRIDGES, Mr & Mrs Steven & Lisa Liskarn Love Me Like You Do, also 15 months old feminine bitch, who could carry herself to better advantage. Very nice head, medium brown eye. Very good bone and nice body for age. Falls away in croup and her rear angulation is too strong. Very good tan markings.

3rd: 37 MEAKIN, Mrs Rachael Clare & MEAKIN, Mr Paul Angelrain Everlasting Love

Class 26 YB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 39 OAKABY, Mrs Louise F Tickbern Only One Carina At Iscabern, 18 month old tall young bitch who has a nice frame to mature into. Shown in sparse summer coat. Needs more time for development. Pleasing head, medium brown eye. Nice bone and neat feet. Would like a better front. Excellent muscle tone. Rather narrow front movement, better going away.

Class 27 PGB (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 35 MEAKIN, Mrs Rachael Clare & MEAKIN, Mr Paul Bellatrix Do Monte Dos Ursos (imp Prt), two year old feminine slightly long cast bitch shown in her summer jacket. Pleasing size. Good head shape, dark eyes a little open. Carries herself to advantage. Good mover. Very nice tan markings. Needs more time to come to her best.

Excellent balance and pleasing outline. Has a lovely feminine head, beautiful dark eye and excellent kind expression. Quality bone, neat feet. Excellent ribcage, body and condition. Very good rear. Excellent mover. CC

2nd: 20 BRIDGES, Mrs Shandy Ch Oonelladream A Stolen Kiss At Kernow, three year old strong matronly bitch. Very nice type. Pleasing head, would like a little more strength in muzzle and slightly bigger eyes. Moves well. Res.CC
