RETRIEVER (CURLY COATED)

Curly Coated Retrievers were small in numbers, but luckily just a couple of absentees. I enjoyed judging the small entry. My BOB, the young male, impressed me a lot and also the BOS. I see they are sired by the same dog. Coats were not at their best after the hot weather you have experienced in the UK. Some dogs would have been to better advantage in harder condition.

1st: JACK, Miss Rachel Maycourt I'm Still Standing, 20 month old masculine liver dog. Excellent temperament. Good size. Strong male head with very good eye shape, colour and expression. Quality bone, neat feet. Very good neck and topline, just a little long in loin. Sound mover, but would like to see him in firmer condition. Coat not at its best, but decent curls.

1st: STEPHENS, Mr & Mrs J & M B Brightmeadow Rumour Has It JW, two and half year old black dog of excellent type and size. Masculine, strong and well balanced yet elegant. Correct wedge shape head, lovely dark eye. Good bone. Well bodied and has very good crisp and dense curls. Excellent mover. Best Dog & Best of Breed

2nd: CLACK, Mr&Mrs Stephen & Elaine & BATLLE-HUNTER, Mr Krisbos Leonidas With Molokain (IKC) JW, two year old liver dog, excellent type, still young and needs a little more time to come to his best. Very good masculine head. Well put together. Excellent, good quality curls. Moved well in profile, needs to improve a little coming and going. Reserve Best Dog

1st: CLACK, Mr&mrs Stephen & Elaine Bazzy Inti Anka At Molokain (Cze Imp), seven year old happy veteran male. Masculine liver dog. Very typical head. Would like slightly better underjaw. Correct eye shape. Good bone and body, just a little long in loin. Would benefit from better muscle tone. Front movement a little loose. Coat not at its best. Best Veteran

1st: COURTIER, Miss D Maycourt Cover Shot, three and half year old liver bitch very typical of the breed. Feminine head of good shape, although could have slightly stronger muzzle. Decent neck. Good bone. Also this bitch would look better in harder muscle tone. Moved close behind. Decent curls. 

2nd: HARRIS, Miss Amy Brightmeadow Wish Come True At Dreamcurl, two year old black bitch, who is a little fine all through. Would like more strength in head. Correct dark eye. Needs better bone. Good feet. Rear should be stronger and her movement is a little restricted. Good coat.

1st: STEPHENS, Mr & Mrs J & M B Sh Ch Ravenho Up Town Girl For Brightmeadow JW, four year old black bitch of excellent type, shown a tad plump. Feminine, balanced and correct. Quality bitch head, but would like darker eyes. Capable mover who used her quarters well. Good quality curls. Best Bitch

2nd: COURTIER, Miss D Maycourt Take Me to The Top, three and half year old feminine bitch of very pleasing type. Strong and well made. Very good head, excellent dark eye. Correctly angulated quarters. Would like to see better drive in rear movement. Coat not at its best, decent curls. Reserve Best Bitch

3rd: CLACK, Mr&Mrs Stephen & Elaine & EDDERY, Mr Edward Sh Ch Molokain Hocus Pocus
