National Gundog Association

Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer

My thanks to the committee for a lovely day, and to my stewards for their assistance. Veterans were top notch, and a credit to the breed. Across the board some untypical heads and unbalanced outlines. However, plenty of quality and pleased with my winners.

VD (3,1) 1st Schoneville’s Sh Ch Balvenie Double Diamond JW masculine head, kind eye and correct neck. Short back and well muscled rear with good bend of stifle. Moved out with strong positive action. 2nd Staley’s Jomeel Monkey Wrench, really old fashioned head of correct proportion, balanced through out with good angulation fore and aft. Excellent for his age, just preferred the positive action of 1 today.

PD (1/1) Staley’s Jomeel Quicksilver. Still very raw, as is proper, lots to like. Masculine head, lovely dark pigmentation. Short back, tidy tuck up with good angles. Excellent feet. A little unsettled on the move today.

JD (1/0) Jones’s Kazanpaul Sherbert Dip. Another who is still raw, and needs time to mature. Masculine head, correct neck. Good lay of shoulder, deep chest with good rear angulation, well muscled. Ground covering stride.

ND (2/2) 1st Gray’s Hafwenna How You Doin. Short backed and stands over plenty of ground. A balanced and proportional picture stood. Excellent coat texture and tight feet. Moved positively with reach and drive. 2nd Sielski’s Orchidstar Ravioli. Masculine head, lovely dark liver coat. Good depth of chest to tuck up, excellent bone throughout. A little unsettled on the move today.

PGD (4/0) 1st Angus’s Edelmidpoint Native River Through Calmerell JW clean masculine head of good proportions. Good short back, good depth of chest to correct tuck up and strong rear. Moved out positively. 2nd Brown & Burn’s Magregor Super Nude Around Pothouse JW. Masculine head. Good lay of shoulder and bend of stifle. Good deep chest, would prefer slightly more tuck up. Good coat texture. Moved out well.

LD (7/1) 1st Taylor & Taylor-Morris’s Pelenrise All Guns Blazing JW. Presented a good balanced outline overall. Nice head with masculine qualities. Good angles fore and aft, short back and good depth of chest and spring of rib. Excellent coat texture, and good tight feet. Moved out with reach and drive. A pleasure to award him the DCC. 2nd Cooke & Hammond’s Seasham Show Me The Way JW. Really lovely shape, with lots of qualities to admire, good angles for and aft, short in back and shown in hard condition. Giving his handler a hard time today, especially on the move.

OD (4/0) 1st Mann’s Sh Ch Elfrindew Endrick to Valger ShCEx. Honest, workmanlike male, balanced throughout with good shoulder angulation and bend of stifle. Good head and kind eye. Good feet, and moved with reach and drive. Pipped to the post by a youngster today, RDCC. 2nd Brown & Burns’s Sh Ch Magregor Four Letter Word for Pothouse JW.
