United Kingdom Toydog Society

Breed: Bichon Frise

Judging the dogs with the aim of preserving the breed for future generations!

I had the pleasure of going over many beautiful examples today. Some were a delightful surprise.

Mouths, pigment, and coat texture were at their best.

However, rear movement in several exhibits was very poor. Many had very close movement when viewed from behind, to the point of single tracking, which is distracting when evaluating the breed and undoubtedly affects movement on the move.

I was very pleased with my entry and delighted with my winners. The majority of the winners are sired by the same male. Although I have not personally had the pleasure of judging him, he has clearly producing progeny that reflects the breed standard. Many congratulations to the breeder.

Class 20 SBD/B

1st: 85 WISNIEWSKA, Mrs Ewelina Amelia's Angels Adele (imp Pol)

A beautiful bitch full of promise, with a lovely, well shaped head and appealing round eyes. Her ears are correctly set just above the eye and of good length. She carries nice dark pigment throughout. Well bodied with good depth of chest, she has a straight front and moves with parallel action both front and rear. Her soft, silky coat shows a pleasing loose corkscrew curl. The tail is well set and carried nicely above the body. She moves freely and in balance, presenting a very attractive outline. Considered for the RCC, but slightly shorter in body compared to the top winners. Awarded BSB.

2nd: 82 WILSON, Miss D Brokengate's Rebel Heart At Kantosky

Very pretty lady with very dark pigment throughout. Ice white coat which shows her pigment off even stronger, giving the true Bichon look. Balanced throughout but lacked the movement of one, another day could be a different story.

3rd: 54 DEAN, Mrs M B Snowpups Sparkly Solitaire

Class 21 VD

1st: 45 ASPINALL, Mrs Charlotte Sherrosea Future Hopes

Teller than I would like but certainly had the movement. Amazingly handled to get full potential out of this older boy. Dark pigment, good length of neck. Parallel front and rear coming forth and back. Side gate really showed him off. More coat would finish him off nicely BVIB

2nd: 66 MARSDEN, Miss J Winharleigh Magic Of Music

Hands on, this boy has a lovely overall balance. Good dentition for his age. Luxurious coat with plenty of curl. Correct ear set and length of ear. Didn't have the movement of one today.

Class 22 MPD NO ENTRIES

Class 23 PD

1st: 68 MOSS, Mrs M Quissmar Lightning Chaser For Mamose

In profile this young male gives a very balanced profile. Very promising. Lovely dark pigmentation on an ice white coat. Correct muzzle ratio to skull with ear sitting in the right place. Good depth of chest for one so young. Moved with reach and attitude. Not so strong on the rear. Would like to see more muscle but he has time on his side.

2nd: 80 TREANOR, Mrs Catherine Ardmoyles Ring Of Fire

More raw than 1st, Loved his bichon attitude, happy and lively. Certainly made me smile watching him go around the ring. Nice dark pigment, Shoulder placements are spot on, Nice strong front and rear to match. Tail set sitting beautifully on his back. Lost out due to maturity but without a doubt, a one to watch

Class 24 JD

1st: 80 TREANOR, Mrs Catherine Ardmoyles Ring Of Fire

Class 25 PGD

1st: 46 BEATER, Mr M Yngles Jago Van De Dyksteinhoeve Of Starforth (imp

Very impressed with this young man. I have admired him for some time and was pleased to go over him today. Head proportions are spot on, with excellent pigment against a very white coat. He is dripping in coat, with plenty of soft, loose curls (personally I would prefer him a little tidier in outline, but that is nit-picking). Ear set sits beautifully, completing a well balanced head. Eye size is in perfect harmony with the nose, giving the desired equilateral triangle. He has sufficient neck to show off his outline, which balances well with his body. Well muscled throughout, with good depth of chest. Tail set is correct, carried in a graceful arch over the back. His personality completes the picture. Fun, happy, and clearly enjoying the attention, just as a Bichon should. A very promising young dog who should have a bright future ahead of him. RDCC

2nd: 78 ROBINSON, Mrs A Wattlemeade Just Walter

Another beautiful boy with a very masculine head. Hands on, he has a lot of attributes to the winner. Good dark pigmentation. Sound front but not the rear to match. Moved with ease on side profile. Another with a cheeky Bichon personality.

Class 26 LD

1st: 77 REID, Mrs F Wolimorb Cosmic Star Over Dixido

A dog which I have had my hands over before. Another dog I like so much. Well balanced and sound from head to toe. Face on, he has the most beautiful expression. Dark round eyes which melt your heart. Eyes are in balance with nose which give him that picture perfect look. Outline, neck to body ratio is spot on. Shoulder placement is faultless. Parallel in front and rear with a beautiful reach and drive. I really struggled not to give him the RCC today but i felt he didn't show his true self in the challenge which was such a shame.

2nd: 67 MAULT, Mrs L A & COAD, Mr. M Limartine Stand And Stare

Hands on, this dog ticks many of the right boxes, with several pleasing attributes in the correct places. Strong pigment with correct ear placement. Enough neck flowing into a level top line, good depth of chest into a slightly longer loin. When viewed as a whole, I felt the overall balance was lacking. On the move, coming and going, the front is sound and difficult to fault. Unfortunately, the rear lacked drive which affects the overall harmony of the dog.

Class 27 OD

1st: 49 BROMILOW, Miss Jodie Ch Wolimorb Top Gun JW ShCEx OSW

Wow!!!! A beautifully balanced and stylish exhibit.  presented with a smartest of outlines. Soft naturally curling white coat and well-carried plume tail. Head is well proportioned with correct muzzle to skull ratio, clean lines with the most beautiful expression. Dark, round eyes and well set ears enhance the alert appearance. Neck is elegant and well carried into correctly constructed forequarters. Body is well proportioned with good depth. Spring of rib and a firm but slightly arched loin. Hindquarters are well angulated, well muscled and providing strength and balance. Moves with ease and efficiency today, showing good reach and drive while maintaining a level topline. Tail carriage is correct and complements the overall outline. He certainly pulled out all the stops today to make sure he took the top spot. DCC and A worthy Best of Breed winner, combining type, soundness, and excellent temperament.

Class 28 VB

Class 29 MPB

1st: 52 CLARKE, Miss Gemma Louise Blancazorte Time Of My Life

A very promising youngster. At first glance, her outline is picture perfect, and she did not disappoint on examination. Beautiful dark, round eyes balanced with the blackest of noses give a most feminine expression. Skull shape and proportions are spot on. She has a beautifully arched neck flowing gracefully into her body, with her tail completing the picture. Movement is sound and parallel coming and going, and she moved with real sass and attitude, especially for one so young. While I don't favor top honors at this age, I can certainly see her collecting many accolades as she matures. Delighted to award her BPIB, and even more pleased to see her go on to achieve BPIS. Well deserved

2nd: 50 CARR, Mrs Deb Bowiechons Rebelrebel

Once comfortable and settled, this young lady looked the picture. Very similar attributes to one but just lacking the confidence today. I'm sure over time she will do very well

3rd: 57 HILL, Miss Angela Deizi Miss Tik Tok

Class 30 PB

1st: 73 PIKE, Ms Jane & CARTER, MR P Cartikes Dreamer

Up on size compared to the rest of the class but the most balanced of them all. Darkest of pigment throughout. Loved the texture of her coat. Pretty and feminine face. slightly longer neck would giver the most perfect balance, time is still on her side. Hands on she ticks all the boxes. Another with the most sound front but needs to strengthen up in the rear. With time, I'm sure she is going to do very well.

2nd: 65 MARQUISS, Mrs A Quissmar Rising Lightning

A very promising smaller female with lovely dark pigmentation. Correct muzzle to skull ratio, with ears well set, completing a pleasing head. She has a strong, sound body and is satisfying to go over. Moved with attitude. However, not quite as sound on the move as the class winner.

3rd: 81 TREANOR, Mrs Catherine Ladykillers Bark Like A Lady Act Like Queen

Class 31 JB

1st: 53 COAD, Mr M Limartine Wait And See At Pamplona

A bitch very much of the same type as her brother, sharing many of his strengths. She has several pleasing qualities on examination.  However, I felt she lacked overall balance when viewed as a complete picture. Her front movement is sound and true. The rear, while adequate, does not quite match the strength of the front, which detracts slightly from her overall outline.

2nd: 74 PRICE, Mrs Shirley Louisianna Bonnie Wee Lass

A very small, feminine young lady. She has a pleasing head, with coat completing the overall picture. Displayed a cheeky, sassy personality, which added to her charm. Just lost out on first place today due to her smaller size.

3rd: 81 TREANOR, Mrs Catherine Ladykillers Bark Like A Lady Act Like Queen

Class 32 PGB

1st: 62 LARKIN, Miss Sophie Sherrosea Shooting Star

I liked this lady a lot; she reminded me very much of my veteran at home. She has a most pleasing head, with dark pigment throughout. Her coat is of pleasing texture, with the curl showing well. Shoulder placement is sound, giving her a beautiful front. She is strong behind, with parallel movement both coming and going, and moves around the ring with real ease. She really catches the eye. Unfortunately her staining cost her a place in the top honors today.

2nd: 43 ASPINALL, Mrs Charlotte Eithlynn Grateful Heart At Lanipsa

A pretty and feminate young lady. Ticked a lot of the boxes and was superbly handled today. However, She was lacking a lot of coat which lost the traditional look of the Bichon

Class 33 LB

1st: 51 CARR, Mrs Deb Petit Ami's Countin' On A Miracle Bowiechons (Imp

Immaculately presented, white from head to toe. She has a most pleasing head, with black pigment standing out beautifully against the pure white face. Well bodied, with good depth of rib, and presents a very attractive outline. I would have preferred a little more body coat, as she was trimmed somewhat short for me today. Her front is not her strongest feature. However, this is compensated by a stronger rear. She moved with ease and style.

2nd: 72 PIKE, Ms Jane & CARTER, MR P Wattlemaede Mazikeen At Cartike

Very close to taking the class today. She certainly made no one work for it. She shares many similar attributes with the winner. She has a stronger front than first, but the rear is not quite as strong. Staining was the deciding factor on this occasion. On another day, I can easily see her take first place.

3rd: 82 WILSON, Miss D Brokengate's Rebel Heart At Kantosky

Class 34 OB

1st: 42 ANDERSON, Mrs H M Ch Brokengate's Mam'selle

Untouchable is what I wrote! A very feminine and well-balanced example of the breed. She presents a smart outline with a natural white coat of soft, loose curls.  Head proportions are excellent, with the correct muzzle to skull ratio. Skull slightly rounded, cheeks flat, and a moderate stop. Eyes are dark, round, and full of expression, with black rims and pigment. Ears are set slightly above eye level, carried forward when alert. Strong jaws with a correct scissor bite. Neck is arched and of good length, flowing smoothly into well laid shoulders. Forequarters are sound, with straight legs and correct pasterns. Body is balanced. Well sprung ribs, slightly arched loin, and well tucked underline. Hindquarters are strong and well angulated giving effortless movement. Tail is correctly set and carried in a graceful arch over the back complementing the outline. On the move, she shows balanced, straight action with good reach and drive maintaining a level topline. A very worthy Bitch CC winner! Combining type, soundness, and quality, with the correct breed expression and excellent movement. So close to giving her BOB but the male just looked more finished.

2nd: 79 TREANOR, Mrs Catherine Yuran White Ginger Snap

A very promising female, slightly less finished than the Bitch CC winner but equally sound. She has a well proportioned head with correct ratios, dark expressive eyes, and well set ears giving a pleasing breed expression. Neck is elegant and flows well into well laid shoulders. Forequarters are straight and true with good bone and pasterns. Body shows correct depth of brisket, well sprung ribs and a slightly arched loin. Hindquarters are strong and well angulated providing balanced. Effortless movement both coming and going. Coat is of good texture with soft curls. Tail is correctly set and carried gracefully over the back. Sound, balanced, and with excellent movement, this young lady is a very worthy RCC winner and promises to develop into a top class example of the breed. I hope she gets her crown.
