Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge and to my very efficient steward. The exhibitors were very sporting and I am extremely grateful for their support. I appreciate that this breed is not for everyone as they don’t have balanced front and rear angles, have longer legs than depth of chest and move on a short stride with little rear extension. A small entry, but one of true Brittany type and quality, which I greatly appreciated.

Class 1414 VD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 2783 COOK, Miss F Sh Ch Highclare Only One Avec Tailliside (a.i.) JW. Squarely built with super big ribs and short, strong loins. Strong neck, fairly wide at top of shoulders, straight front, slightly sloping pasterns, level topline, moderate bend of stifle. Balanced and well moulded head, lovely expression in his correctly set eyes. Moved well in profile. BVIB.

1st: 2788 SAMARDZIJA, Mrs A & SAMARDZIJA, Mr M & RYAN, Miss Patouche Amaretto. Cracking puppy! He has a fabulous head with its moderate stop, slightly tapered muzzle, high set ears and such an endearing expression. His forelegs are slightly longer than his depth of chest with moderate bone, good ribbing, strong loin and slightly sloping croup. Very well muscled first and second thighs. Moved on a short brisk stride. BPIB.

1st: 2788 SAMARDZIJA, Mrs A & SAMARDZIJA, Mr M & RYAN, Miss Patouche Amaretto. Repeat.

2nd: 2787 SAMARDZIJA, Mrs A & SAMARDZIJA, Mr M Patouche Lambert. A grand chap who is rather on the tall side, short back, slightly sloping topline, moderate bend of stifle. Slightly wide in skull but has such a soft expression in his dark eyes. Moved OK. 

Class 1420 OD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

I have judged both of these boys before and they are fine examples of the breed and very worthy champions exuding breed type being workmanlike, square, compact and cobby. Their heads are wider in skull than length with ideally proportioned skull to muzzle ratios and both have very appealing expressions. Bodies are deep with well rounded ribs, slightly sloping toplines and well finished croups. They have the desired point of buttock to hock vertical line and are incredibly well muscled throughout. It was an extremely hard task to separate them but today I felt that the inescapable march of time had slightly taken its toll on Pickpocket’s front.

Class 1422 VB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 2784 GRAHAM, Mrs Linda & DENWOOD, Mr G Sh Ch Bonapartist Orchid Of Lyndfil. A very pretty girl who was giving her handler a hard time today by pulling on the move. Despite the inevitable softness of maturity, she presents a typical square and cobby appearance, has a straight front, slightly sloping pasterns, deep chest, well rounded ribs and fabulous first and second thigh definition.

1st: 2790 WILLIAMS, Mrs Km & DROZDOVA, Mrs A Tournesol Bernadette Avec Aukskara. What an absolute sweetheart. She is so well made and of correct proportions and carries a firm slightly sloping topline and a great underline too. Her head is divine and her expression to die for. At just six months old she took it all in her stride and on the move her little jumps were very endearing. She is quietly captivating and I’m sure she will win many hearts in the future.

Class 1428 OB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 2792 YARROW, Mr & Mrs Paul & Janette Sh Ch Minama Usher Of Bonapartist (ikc). I loved her front angulation with its well muscled and moderately sloping shoulders and tight elbows. She is cobby in appearance, has big ribs, strong loins and well rounded quarters. Fabulous muscle tone throughout. Her head is typical of the breed and her eyes are dark, slightly oval and obliquely set giving her such a soft and endearing expression. She held her shape well on the move which was brisk with little rear extension. I see she is litter sister to my BOB. A very worthy BB.

2nd: 2791 YARROW, Mr & Mrs Paul & Janette Sh Ch Bonapartist Truffle. Another very lovely girl with a good front, pretty head and short, high set ears framing it well to give an appealing expression however I preferred the slightly darker eye of the winner. What I did really like on this girl were her feet which were tight and compact with the rear ones slightly longer than the front. She moved well holding a good shape but was less brisk than the winner. RBB.
