I would like to thank the Boston &DCS committee for inviting me to judge and to my lovely stewards who kept everything moving efficiently throughout despite the strong wind. Huge thanks also to all of the exhibitors who entered and accepted my decisions. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and was delighted with my principal winners, although several worthy dogs had to go without.

Minor Puppy Dog (2:0)

Both boys were having a lovely day and not making easy work for their handlers!

1st Smith’s Affilato Bullseye, 8 month old dog with a beautiful lean head and correct eye colour. Good depth of muzzle and scissor bite, large spongy nose, well furnished, giving an appealing expression. Well angled fore and rear and plenty of bone for his age. He moved well when settled but wasn’t making it easy for his handler. Rather proud of his tail which detracted from the overall outline.

2nd Barratt’s Riccini Figaro, 8 month old who still has lots of maturing to do. Lovely divergent head with pronounced occiput and kind expression, well boned, good reach of upper arm and shoulder set well apart, broad in thigh and well-let down hocks. Good tail carriage and coat, but longer in the loin than 1, and still very unsettled on the move.

Puppy Dog (1:0)

Williams’ Stowledge Stephano, 8 month old well bodied dog of solid outline. Excellent front construction with prominent breastbone and straight, strong oval bone. Head is still developing but he has the lean rooftop skull and correct ochre eye, would prefer more depth of muzzle. Lovely topline leading to sloping croup, broad thigh and good tail carriage. Moved well in profile. Best puppy dog.

Junior Dog (4:0)

1st Wagh’s Lucoru Fire and Ice for Dewdhala, 14 month old well boned, almost square in outline with super substance and a harsh coat on body and legs. He has an excellent head and the kindest of expressions, correct dentition, deep muzzle and low-set ear placement. Shoulders set well apart and well angulated, good bend of stifle. A super mover with a typical pounding trot holding his topline on the move, earning him the RCC. He has a bright future ahead of him which I will follow with interest.

2nd Mayne, Anderson & Steere’s Michiamo Vivvy Wizz, 13 month old Lovely head with good divergence and kind expression. Good reach of upper arm and good bend of stifle with well-let down hocks and good depth of chest giving plenty of heart room. Moved well and carried his tail level on the move. Coat on his legs is still a little soft, but this should harden with time. Another promising youngster who is maturing nicely.

3rd Barrett’s Brewnel Barr by Stowledge

Res Williams’ Stowledge Stephano

Yearling Dog (2:1)

1st James’ Piacento Uomo Saggio, 18 month old robust solid dog with lots to like about him. He is a relaxed easy mover in good muscular condition. Good reach of upper arm and broad hocks with good bend of stifle. Coat texture is good and a gentle rise and fall of the topline. Lovely ochre eye and good dentition but would prefer a leaner head and more length to the muzzle.

Post Graduate Dog (1:1)

Limit Dog (3:1)

1st Rossiter’s Inostricani Time Will Tell, 20 month old beautiful brown roan dog who caught my eye as soon as he entered the ring. He is solid, yet functional and not exaggerated in any way. His head had the correct divergence and leanness with an almost human expression with his rich deep eyes and excellent dentition. He presents a super outline with depth of body, well-sprung ribs and correct topline. Good reach of upper arm and pronounced sternum. Good bend of stifle and well-muscled broad thigh. Harsh coat of monks habit brown. His movement was the best of the day driving from a strong rear. Pleased to award him a well deserved CC and BOB.

2nd Beecham & Sharp’s Affilato Jump With Style at Rydonmist, 22 month old, unlucky to come up against 1, lovely lean head with good divergence, deep muzzle and good dentition, appealing eye and low ear set. He is a solid, almost square, masculine well boned dog with an excellent coat. His strong rear quarters gave him the drive to move with purpose around the ring. He has not yet reached his peak.

Open Dog (3:1)

1st Giles’ Fiducia Cho Oyu at Miavita, a dog I’ve judged before and liked him a lot then, and he did not disappoint on this occasion. At almost 3 years old, he has matured beautifully into an eye catching solid, sturdy dog with good lay of shoulder and reach of upper arm with shoulders set well apart, pronounced sternum and depth throughout. His topline gently slopes to the croup giving him good tail carriage on the move. He is well muscled with developed second thigh and strong broad hocks, giving him drive on the move. Pushed hard in the challenge.

2nd Collett’s Stagerun Matteo, 6 year old with a lovely melting expression. A solid mature boy with an excellent harsh coat and strong oval bone. He has a deep chest with minimal tuck up, almost square in appearance with a rise and fall topline and good tail carriage. He moved well in profile. I would prefer a leaner head and a stronger front assembly.

Veteran Dog (2:0)

1st Dewar’s Macarica Harrys Rock JW, almost 9 year old and not acting his age! A solid, strong dog with depth and substance. Lovely front construction with good bone and feet. Good eye colour and a pleasing expression. Good depth of muzzle, although slightly broad in head and a level bite. Excellent depth of chest with good rib, a little long in the loin. Moved well in profile.

2nd Collett’s Stagerun Kestrel, 7 year old mature bodied dog, almost square in profile with correct topline, good depth of chest and minimal tuck up. Coat of harsh texture and thick skin. He has a lovely expression with large spongy nose, depth of muzzle and scissor bite. Moved well in profile. Preferred the front construction of 1.

Puppy Bitch (1:0)

James’ Affilato Game On, 8 month old beautifully put together baby with a super lean divergent head and lovely ochre eye with good furnishings. She is solid, yet feminine and well bodied with upper arm of equal length to the shoulder blades which are set well apart. Broad in thigh and good bend of stifle with strong pasterns to power her around the ring. She was a little unhappy about the marquee banging due to the wind but moved well when she settled into her stride. Best puppy. I will watch her show career with interest.

Junior Bitch (0:0)

Yearling Bitch (3:0)

1st Pugh’s Gellini Special Edition, 20 month old, a little dark in colour but a quality bitch with a super divergent head, pronounced occiput, lovely deep eye colour and visible crest leading to well laid shoulders and pronounced sternum. Standing straight when viewed from the front on oval bone with good feet. Good topline and strong loin with sloping croup and pleasing tail carriage. She is in good muscular condition with good width of thigh and bend of stifle giving her super rear drive on the move.

An excellent topline and open, well-sprung ribs with a broad deep chest , a sloping croup and lovely tail carriage. In super muscular condition throughout, moved well with a typical pounding trot.

She has beautiful ochre eyes and pronounced occiput with a visible crest. Super topline with a sloping croup and good tailset, thick skin and a harsh coat. Strong oval bone and large feet with minimal tuck up. She moved well with a typical pounding trot driven through broad well let down hocks and strong pasterns.

2nd Munro’s Talpalupo Monello, 4 year old heavier set bitch with divergent head planes, deep ochre eyes, depth of muzzle and good dentition, but less refinement in the head than 1. Coat is of harsh texture but needs to be stripped out more to show off her assets. She has good front assembly with a prominent breastbone, strong oval bone and well angled in the rear, with good movement.

Open Bitch (6:1)

A beautiful class of girls, all of whom were super quality and a delight to judge

1st Wagh’s Dewdhala Sempre Agnese JW JWW24, 3 year old whom I liked a lot as a junior and she did not disappoint! She has matured beautifully into a solid, well-bodied bitch who is in peak condition and well-muscled throughout. She has a super expression with a lean divergent head, pronounced occiput, large spongy nose and deep muzzle, nicely furnished to finish the picture. She has a lovely topline and good spring of rib, prominent breastbone and broad muscular thighs. Fore and rear quarters are well angled giving her reach and drive on the move which was a delight to watch. Well-deserved CC which I understand is her crowning award. Splitting hairs for BOB but she was making hard work for her handler in the challenge.

2nd Pugh’s Gellini Indian Moon, 6 year old mature, feminine bitch with the sweetest of expression. Her head has all the right attributes with good divergence, pronounced occiput deep soulful eyes with a perfect scissor bite. She has good reach of upper arm and pronounced sternum with a deep chest and well-sprung ribs, covered by a harsh coat. Her rear assembly is equally good with broad muscular thighs, well-let down broad hocks and super movement. Pleased to award her RCC.
