Darlington Dog Show Society Ltd

Firstly I must thank the Committee at Darlington for the invitation to award my first set of CCs in this breed at their show. Many thanks also to my stewards, Margaret and Nigel, who kept the ring running smoothly.

I was pleased to see that heads appear to be of a better standard than last time I judged these. However, a reminder to exhibitors that products used to dry the coat should be well brushed out before being presented in the ring

Veteran Dog (2,0): 1st Bailey & Yates' Ch Ir Ch Tarmachan Ice Cool (VW). 10 year old sable and white. Head of correct proportions, ear set and length good, on a strong neck of sufficient length. Well laid shoulder and excellent return of upper arm. Tight elbows. Well ribbed back into strong loin. Well angulated stifle. Tail set and carriage good. Coat harsh. Excellent movement for age, parallel behind. RDCC 2nd Machent's Ch Tioga Lautrec with Grandorielle. Another 10 year old, but a tricolour. Slightly longer cast than 1, but with excellent breed head with great character. Long neck into well laid shoulder. Excellent front and tight elbows. Ribbed back into strong longer loin. Well angulated stifle. Tail set and carriage good, Excellent coat. Moved freely

Open Dog (3,1): 1st Buchanan & Maclaren's Ch Tarmachan Mac Talla. 21 month old tricolour dog. Substantial hound despite his young age. Excellent head proportions, ear set and length also excellent. Strong neck into well laid shoulder. Excellent return of upper arm and tight elbows. Ribbed well back into strong short loin. Excellent rear angulation. Tail set on well but carried high. Topline level and moved with great reach. Would not want any more leg on this youngster. DCC 2nd Buchanan & Maclaren's Ch Tarmachan Tre Valli. 2 year old tricolour. Longer cast than 1. Good head although I would prefer a darker eye and more dome to skull. Ears set correctly. Neck length and front assembly good with tight elbows. Slightly shorter in rib and longer in loin than I would like. Excellent rear angulations. Tail set on correctly but carried a little gayly today. Very happy mover

Veteran Bitch (1,0): 1st O'Day's Ch Tarmachan Black Ice WW18 VW. 9 year old tricolour bitch. Excellent breed head of correct proportions. Excellent dome, ear set and length. Strong neck into excellent front assembly with tight elbows. Well ribbed back into strong short loin. Excellent rear angulation and parallel hocks. Tail carriage correct and could be slightly better set on. Beginning to lose topline slightly on the move, but great reach and drive. Movement won it the veteran challenge. RBCC & BV

Junior Bitch (1,1)

Post Graduate Bitch (2,0): Both enjoying their time in the ring today. 1st O'Day's Tarmachan Toscanello at Madifrey. 3 year old sable and white bitch. Head acceptable and ear set correct. Neck strong. Front assembly correct. Ribbed well back into strong loin. Excellent rear angulation with parallel hocks. Tail set could be better. Topline level and held on move. Coat harsh. 2nd Thorpe's Duchess Zingy Danda Bohemia (Imp Cze). 2 year old tricolour bitch. A bitch that still has a lot of maturing and muscling up to do. Muzzle could be slightly longer to give more breed type to head. Neck and front assembly good. Shorter in ribbing and longer in loin. Excellent rear angulation with parallel hocks. Tail set on well and carried correctly. Coat harsh

Open Bitch (3,1): 1st Bailey & Yates' Wilmit Mirabelle for Bonevon. 3 year old tricolour bitch. Excellent head. Very feminine with dark eye. Ears set on well. Neck strong  with excellent front and tight elbows. Well ribbed back. Short strong loin. Excellent rear angulation, parallel hocks. Tail set and carriage correct. Excellent coat. Topline level and held on move, moved with reach and drive BCC & BOB 2nd Roberts' Ch Tarmachan D'Ora Ligure. Another 3 year old tricolour bitch. Taller exhibit than 1, but overall proportions still correct for breed standard. Excellent head, dark eye. Strong neck and good front with tight elbows. Ribbed well back with short strong loin. Excellent rear. Tail set could be slightly better. Excellent coat. Topline lost a little on the move
