CRUFTS 2026 – NORWEGIAN BUHUNDS
I was very pleased with the dogs under me today. There were none that I didn’t like, as all had good breed type. All mouths were correct scissor bites, so I have not commented on these below. Thank you to my Steward for keeping the ring running smoothly and to all the exhibitors for providing me with the opportunity to assess your dogs. I thoroughly enjoyed my day, just wish I had more time afterwards to spend with you all.
GCD – (1/0) 1st - Knytshall Ragged Robin (Cobb, Cobb & Kent). 22 mth old Black boy who has lovely breed type and much to offer. Super head of correct wedge shape with super dark eye, correct scissor bite lovely black pigmentation. Ears taller than broad and used well. Moderate length of neck, leading to level topline, slightly longer in loin. Tail with good curl and set slightly low. Lovely harsh coat, well ribbed, good depth to chest and tight elbows. Clean coming and going with balanced side gait, just a little erratic today.
PD – (1/0) 1st - Kimura’s Ola Normann (Imp Nor) (Dosson). 10mth wheaten with a lot to like. Super square outline showing good balance and correct substance. Attractive head of good proportions, with super eye shape and very dark. Lovely wedge head with black pigmentation. Ears could be set a little higher but didn’t detract from his kind expression. Super angulation front and rear, with good layback and level topline. Coat a little soft. Double curl to tail which was centrally set but slightly low. Well spring ribs with good depth to chest, slight rise to underline which is good to see. Moved with purpose, having a good rear but just needs to settle in front. BP.
PGD – (1/0) 1st - Knytshall Beau Bramble (Cobb, Cobb & Kent). 22mth old Black (litter brother to GCD winner). This young lad has come forward in leaps and bounds from when I last saw him. Lovely square outline showing balanced moderate angulation fore and aft, a light active dog showing good substance. Best of heads with correct ear shame and used correctly. Super harsh double coat. Correct curl to tail well set but a little too much slope to croup. Level topline, excellent ribs with short loin. Moved well with balanced side gait.
LD - (1/0) 1st - Mazads Nom De Plume (Corin & Camm). 2 yr old Wheaten. Good body proportions, moderate angulation showing good forechest and shoulder layback. Correct level topline which leads to super tail which was well set on. Harsh coat which was smooth with good undercoat. Correct wedge head, with good ears used well. Good eye shape but could be slightly darker. Excellent pigmentation. Moved with steady pace, balanced side gate, and clean coming and going which benefited him in the Challenge. RDCC.
OD – (2/0) 1st - Ch Koromandel Tusen Takk JW (ai) ShCEx OSW (Shorer-Wheeler). 4 yr old Wheaten. A super dog that I have awarded highly previously. Catches the eye on entry to the ring, being very flashy and trained to perfection. Lovely head and ears, super expression with the best of eye. Moderate neck leading to straight topline but tends to slope. In good quality coat of harsh texture. Nice well spring ribs, short loin. Angulation a little unbalanced due to slightly more rear angulation compared to front. Tail with lovely set, and centrally placed, but would prefer a tighter curl. Seriously considered for RCC, however, front and rear movement not as settled today and would prefer to be smaller. 2nd - Ch Kligenthal Almuric ShCEx (Corin & Camm). 6 yr old Wheaten. Another of my favourites having super type. Lovely head shape with good ears which were carried well. Slightly more round in eye, but nice and dark in colour. Moderate neck leading to level topline, super tail set on well. Balanced angulation and moved well coming and going. Just carrying a bit too much weight which affected his outline and overall movement.
VD – (2/0) 1st - Ch Koromandel Best Served Cold at Knytshall (Cobb & Cobb & Kent). 8 yr old Wheaten. Many of the dogs here today are closely related to this super lad, and it’s obvious why! This dog just oozes breed type. The best of heads with correct wedge shape and proportions. Lovely shape to dark eye. Super mobile ears which are taller than broad and used very well. Moderate neck leading to level topline, ending in well set tail with super curl and centrally set. Well sprung ribs with shortest of loins. Good depth to chest and slight rise to underline. Balanced angulation fore and aft which shows in this steady flowing gait. The Best mover of the day being straight coming and going with correct width of chest and drive from behind. A quality dog throughout, one who never fails to please. Easily my CC, BOB & BV winner. 2nd - Ch Rikarlo Gable JW L6ex (Deuchar). 7 yr old Wheaten. A son of the class winner and much to like. Super head of good proportions, but slightly more round in eye. Well placed ears of good shape and well pointed. Moderate neck leading to level topline. Super double curl to tail which was well set. Moderate angulation but slightly longer cast in body. Well sprung ribs and good depth to chest. Moved well but was unfortunately to come up against the winner. Lovley boy who is a worthy Champion.
GCB - (2/1) 1st - Draccus Obsidian at Bucamereru (Guillod & Rees & Guillod-Rees). 4 yr old Black. A lot to like about this girl but not showing to her best ability today. Good head with kind expression, well used ears which were set correctly. Moderate throughout, good ribs but longer cast which affected topline. Good curl to tail but was lower set, tendency to drop, but was carried correctly when moving. Moved soundly fore and aft.
PGB – (3/0) 1st - Knytshall Tansy's Tully (Butters). 22 mth Black. Sister to CC winner. This bitch really took my eye today. She has a super head, showing no weakness, darkest of eyes of correct shape, lovely ears which are well set. Moderate neck leading to good layback and level topline. Super tail set with excellent curl. Harshest of coats in fabulous condition. Well sprung rib with slight slope to underline. Moderate angulation front and rear. Moved cleanly on good length of leg. Super well-padded feet. Seriously considered for CC, but due to being unsettled with a new handler, happy to award the RCC today. 2nd - Mazads Joie De Vivre (Platts). 2 yr old Wheaten, sister to RDCC winner. Liked this bitch who had a nice wedge shape to her correctly proportioned head. Good eye shape and black pigment. Ears set and used well. Moderate neck, level topline but slightly longer cast. Best of tails with excellent curl and centrally placed with high set. Nice body with moderate rise to underline. Balanced angulation. Moved with good rear, but slightly toed in on front. Balanced side gait. 3rd - Tapui Haldis (Glibbery).
LB – (3/1) 1st - Tapui Herborg (Patrick & Ashman). 21 mths Wheaten. Lovely feminine bitch of excellent type. Moderate throughout. Super level topline but longer cast. Excellent tail set and curl and was high set. Moved soundly with balanced side gait. Pushed hard in the challenge but lost out due to being slightly longer. 2nd - Draccus I Have A Dream (ai) (Strong). 2 yr old Black. Very unsettled today, but a nice bitch with much to like. Good head with well set ears, not being used to affect today. Level topline and good tail for curl but was lower set. Decent angulation, chest just deep enough. Nice substance and good feet. Not moving to advantage today.
OB – (4/1) 1st - Ch Knytshall Thistle Ink It Up Koromandel JW (Wheeler). 22 mth Black. Daughter of BOB winner and headed the strongest class of the day. The best of outlines on this very feminine bitch. Super head and expression with correct head proportions and ears that are mobile and used well. Super front rear angulation, which shows in the layback of shoulder leading to level topline on compact body. Short loin. High set tail with good curl and centrally set. Moved with purpose, straight coming and going. Would just prefer a tiny bit more height. Unfortunately to lose to her father today. CC & BOS. 2nd - Ch Blackcombe Bodil at Tapui (Imp Aus) (Irvine). One I haven’t judged previously. A very nice 4 yr old Wheaten bitch who I have admired from ringside. Lovely type with super head and expression. Excellent angulation fore and aft. Best of tails with double curl, high set and carried centrally. A little longer cast which showed in her topline today. Nice underline and good depth to chest. Moved well but not as strong in rear as the winner. 3rd - Ch Tapui Starla (Patrick & Ashman).
VB - (3/1) 1st - Ch Leggatts Dancing Queen at Draccus (Strong). 7 yr old Black. Solid bitch of good type. Compact outline, well set tail. Blockier head but good wedge shape and well placed ears. Moderate neck leading to well laid shoulders and level topline. Stood four square naturally and moved well but slight tendency to crab. A little overweight which didn’t help her barrel ribs. 2nd - Leggatts Voulez Vous (Crocker & Crocker & Freeborn). 7 yr old Black. Taller bitch with longer cast body. Good head with kind expression. Level topline leading to steep croup which gives lower set tail. Moderately angulated with good underline. Good side gait but up and back not as settled. Unfortunately spooked by loud tannoy in hall.
