Malamutes are a breed I always enjoy judging, not least for their superb temperaments and today was no different although I found the breed slightly more diverse than last time I judged. I was of course delighted to see my ‘bests of’ considered further in their respective groups.

Class 1291 SBD/B (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1 and BSB FOTHERINGHAM Tailfly Lion Heart rather a nice grey/white 6 yr old who has a decent length of leg and was very well presented, head is broad enough with moderate stop although eyes could be a fraction darker and a strong neck, I liked his body which was not overlong with ample forechest, good depth to his chest and through the brisket, firm in topline and moderately angulated in the rear, he could have a fraction more substance but was the best and truest mover in the class displaying powerful drive from the rear 2 PERFITT-JONES, Samjoe's The One And Only VW 8 yr b who is slightly shorter on the leg than the winner but with very good bone and decent sized feet, skull could have a little more width but she has a feminine and pleasing expression, strong topline with broad thighs, moderately angulated hindquarters and covering the ground really easily. She was very well handled by her young charge and did everything he asked of her 3 THOM Katabatics Bounty Hunter

PD (1) 1 and BPIB PAGE D'alkontres Don't Stop Believin' Cedarcreek (Imp) a most promising 8 month d, head is maturing nicely and he just needs to develop a little more width to his skull, eyes are dark and well set, he stands true on front on ample bone and is moderately angulated in the rear with strong well let down hocks, once settled he showed off his effortless and easy movement with tail carried well over the back. In the challenge he was just that little more together than his sister. Pleased to see him make the shortlist in a lovely puppy group

JD (0) PGD 3,1) 1 and RDCC RABY’s Kaskae La Voila At Icemoon this is a cracking young dog and one of the best movers here today. I liked his slightly elegant stance but he is not lacking on bone or substance and is very well balanced, he has a masculine head with well set ears and eyes emitting a keen expression, a strong neck of moderate length and standing on strong straight forelegs, good sized feet with a well proportioned body which is fit and muscular under the hand, he could still perhaps firm up a little in topline but his movement is a delight to watch as he covers the ground with effortless strides and tremendous drive, definitely capable of doing a days work. I hope the owner realises what she has on the end of the lead and becomes more confident with him, show him off to the judges as he is every inch a CC winning dog! 2 THOM, Mr Wayne Katabatics Bounty Hunter a strongly built boy with very good bone and presented in dense coat, masculine head with width to skull and neat well furred ears, straight front and good sized feet, strong ribcage, well developed hindquarters and moving well enough, just a little heavy overall for my preference LD (7,2) 1 PARTRIDGE-BEBB’s PARTRIDGE-BEBB, Mr Kaskae Show Me The Monet Avec Keighanya a 2 year old with a delightful character and one I have judged before, when you look at him you see the whole package – a big strong dog with excellent bone and substance but not overdone, he has such a great head and expression sitting ontop of a strong slightly arched neck that leads into well placed shoulders and a fairly mature body for his age with depth to chest and ample forechest, he has a strong slightly sloping topline to firm a loin and correctly set tail, you can feel the muscle on his hindquarters which are broad and powerful and he covers the ground freely and easily, a strong contender for the RCC today but a little of his comedic side crept in during the challenge and he had to give way to his brother on this occasion 2 AITCHISON and HURST, Kaskae Eiffel For You another good looking dog and brother of the winner of this class and the PG class, he is a fraction lighter on bone but still with more than enough and like the winner he has a super head shape and alert expression assisted by well set erect ears, his bond with his owner is clear as he constantly looks at her in adoration but this does stretch his neck upwards somewhat and for me it did spoil the flow of his outline a little, he has a good depth of chest and muscular hindquarters with strong parallel hocks, another one who covers the ground powerfully and easily 3 Perfitts Samjoe Shadowhunter JW OD (4) This was a very strong class 1 DCC and BOB ELLIS – PAYNE Ch Chayo One In A Billion this clever breeder is very consistent in the style of her breeding and this 2 year old is out of the same mould, a powerful looking dog who is strongly made all through and was presented in dense coat of the correct texture, head is so obviously masculine with width to skull, broad muzzle and dark oblique eye, he stands on strong pasterns and good sized feet with a topline that slopes slightly towards his well set tail, he is a powerful and smooth mover displaying superior driving action from the rear, pleased to see him make the cut in the group later 2 Phoenix Ch Nordicwinds Grtest Showman JW ShCEx OSW this is such a good looking dog and one I have awarded a RBIS to and I like his made and style, he is a powerful looking dog with excellent bone and a decent length of leg, strong slightly arched neck into a moderate lay of shoulders, good depth of chest, muscular loin and well developed hindquarters, gave his handler a hard time today but still more than worthy of his place 3 Prescott and Raynors Dreamwolves Time Of My Life I wanted to give a mention to this 5 yr b/w d who caught my eye when he came into the ring and on going over him I found his so well made all through with an outline that epitomises the word ‘powerful’ and although he did show glimpses of sound driving action, he spent a lot of the time going round with his head down which spoilt the overall picture for me. If the handler could just get on top of this I think some green cards could easily come his way. VD (1) 1 WOODHEAD’s Noraisy Take My Breath Away JW I can remember seeing this sable boy around the shows as a youngster and now he stands before me as 9 year old which his coat and condition belies, where has the time gone! He has a pleasing head with broad skull and ears used to enhance his appeal, shoulders are muscular and well placed and he has depth to his chest and a firm slightly sloping topline to a well set plumed tail, still so strong in hock and displaying good drive with rhythmical strides, PB (3,2) 1 PHOENIX, Ms J D'alkontres Spice Up Your Life Nordicwinds (imp It) a very pretty 8 mth grey/white b who has rather striking head markings with ample width of skull, dark well shaped eye and the neatest of ears, she stands true in front on compact fleet and strong pasterns with a good depth of chest for her age, her tail is set on correctly and well plumed and she is a sound mover but just lacked the animation of the puppy dog in the challenge today. JB (0) PG (1) 1 Prescott and Raynors Lueldar Beautiful Rosa Of Bearnortham 2 yr seal b whose sound construction and shape creates a balanced outline. She was presented in a dense well conditioned coat with an attractive head, well placed oblique eye and small neat ears, she has a strong slightly arched neck and muscular shoulders, chest is deep and ribs well sprung, she has a shapely rear with moderately angulated quarters and strong hocks and covers the ground freely with good strides, lots to like here

LB (3,1) 1 Browns Rumba Vasilyev Ostrov For Cupun (imp Ukr) a rather petite girl but so very shapely with a lovely head and expression, neat triangular ears side atop a broad skull and she has a strong slightly arched neck into well laid shoulders, ample bone for her size and good compact feet, her lack of coat only emphasised her correct body shape and balanced angulation and on the move she is quite light on her feet but still displaying plenty of drive, I would have just liked a little more of her all over 2 Sheehan and Sheehans Powderhound's Sparks Will Fly At Amaqqut (imp Usa) I preferred the build and substance of this girl although she is a fraction longer cast than 1. She has a lovely head with strength to skull but still feminine, her strong slightly arched neck flows into well placed shoulders and she is deep through the chest with a well developed rib cage and muscular hindquarters, moved soundly driving off from strong hocks. OB (3) 1 and BCC Pages Ch The Magician Bloody Mary Cedarcreek (Imp) I loved the outline and balance of this 6 yr b, she has a lovely feminine well shaped head with neat triangular ears, oblique eye and strong muzzle, neck is slightly arched into a moderate lay of shoulder, she has depth to her chest and a firm topline leading to a short muscular loin and well set plumed tail, she is nicely angulated in the rear and stands on strong parallel hocks, on the move she displays such a powerful and untiring action driving forward well from the rear,

2 and RBCC COPLEY-HOLLAND Ch Katabatics Troubleshooter JW different to the winner but still full of quality, well developed for her age and presented in a well prepared coat of good texture, slightly bigger all through but not lacking femininity, head has breadth to skull and muzzle is strong and well developed, good in forechest with plenty of depth to chest, strong ribcage and well sprung with a slightly sloping topline towards a well set tail, she is powerfully built behind and sound as a pound but I just preferred the rear action of the winner today

3 Druce and Aitchisons Ch Kaskae Ooh La La Avec Druxie JW I need to mention this young girl who is actually a victim of her own success! I know she was titled at a young age and rightly so and I have nothing negative to say about other than she looked rather immature against the other two girls. VB (3) 1 and BVIB, VG2 NEVINSON’s Ch Chayo Causin Chaos a mature b presented in super coat and condition and whose style really appealed to me, she has excellent head shape with strength to skull slight stop and strong muzzle l but without losing femininity, her neat well used ears added to the appeal, she is strongly boned and stands true in front on short strong pasterns and compact feet, her chest is deep and topline firm to a well set plumed tail and she is muscular in the rear with strong parallel hocks allowed for good driving action, what a fabulous show she put on in the veteran group to take a well deserved VG2 congratulations ! 2 Woodheads Koromandel Rushin Around At Noraisy I nearly fell over when I was told this beautiful girl was 13 years old! Its corny to say she is a credit to her owners but she really is, she has a lovely feminine head and small neat ears set on wide, her neck is strong and she stands well in front on straight forelegs and good feet although just a fraction weak in pasterns but this is more of an observation than a criticism, she is firm in topline and loin with strong quarters and parallel hocks and covers the ground smoothy and freely in all directions 3 Perfitts Samjoe's The One And Only VW
