NORWEGIAN BUHUNDS WELKS 2026

A really nice turn out for this breed without CC’s. Thank you to the exhibitors for giving me the opportunity to judge your lovely dogs.

VD (1) 1 and BVIBB RBD and a veteran group shortlist, Cobb, Cobb and Kents Ch Koromandel Best Served Cold at Knytshall , I was very taken with this 9 yr old d whose coat and condition defies his age and I just loved his type and showmanship. He has as masculine wedge head with high set ears and lovely dark eye from which exudes a bright and intelligent expression. He stands true in front on small neat feet with a square and shapely hindquarters, chest is deep and topline firm and he is so easy on the move going out soundly and accurately all ways.

PD (2,1) 1 and BP Dossons Kimura’s Ola Normann (Imp Nor) quite s mature 10mth wheaten with a pleasing wedge head, bright dark eye and well set ears, very nice body proportions with well placed shoulders, straight forelegs and small compact feet that just turn out slightly , level topline and short loin and producing a light and easy action in profile

YD (2) 1 Denham -Horton and Hortons Tapui Haraldsson at Jjavacobe I really liked the head on this young wheaten dog, he has ample width between the ears which are well set on and dark expressive eyes, neck is of moderate length and body almost square, he has an excellent topline to high set tail and is moderately angulated in the rear creating a pleasing and balanced outline, a fluid mover with an easy action 2 Cobb, Cobb and Kents Knytshall Ragged Robin 2 yr black dog, square in outline with a pleasing wedge head and dark eye, moderate in neck on to a firm topline and tight tail and nicely angulated in the rear, profile movement was good but he was not as accurate as the winner on the away.

PGD (1) Dossons Leggatts Part Time Lover, a fit youngster who is very nice to go over although a tad long cast, wedge head with well et ears, moderate length of neck and ample front angulation, good depth of chest and level topline, quite a nice mover being accurate all ways and showing a good length of stride

OD (3,1) 1 and BD, BOB Shorer-Wheelers Ch Koromandel Tusen Takk JW (ai) ShCEx OSW out of a similar mould to the BV, this almost 5 year old has a good square outline with light bone and a high set well curled tail, masculine head with flat skull, tapered muzzle and dark eye, excellent front and small neat feet and presented in good coat of the correct texture, on the move he is so effortless and light on his feet and he exudes a certain calmness and presence in the ring, my only criticism is that his topline does slope off slightly when stacked but overall a top quality dog and a great representative of the breed in the group where I understand he was shortlisted 2 Lamberts Sturtmoor's Gon'n Dun It JW 2 yr old out of a smaller mould than the winner, head is well shaped and in proportion to his body, and he has beautiful dark eyes exuding a super keen expression, body is compact with well placed shoulders and moderate hind angulation and he has one of the best toplines here today which he held on the move. I still feel he could tighten up a touch in front movement but a very promising dog who will no doubt gain his title, just pipped at the post by 2 maturer specimens

VB (1) 1 Frost, Frost-Treadwell & Walmsleys Trelowen Amelia at Frostisen 8.5 yr wheaten girl presented in lovely condition and with a coat of good texture, wedge head with dark eye and a moderate length of neck into well placed shoulders, well developed in ribcage and deep through the chest with moderate hind angulation, a sound mover but could have a little more length of stride

PB (1) 1 Denham-Hortons Riverhund Kyon Where Shall I Wander to Jjavacobe (Imp Can) A very promising 9 mth old with head developing well with dark eyes giving a keen expression and excellent mobile ears, body is almost square but needs to firm in topline and she has shapely hindquarters and parallel hocks, on the move she displays confidence and energy lots to like here.

OB (5) A full class of quality blacks here 1 and BB Taylor & Taylor & Taylor & Frost-Treadwells Ir Ch Frostisen Blakk Zitter Cw26 4 yr b who ticked a lot of boxes for me, she makes such a nice outline, beautiful head which is well shaped with tapering muzzle and high set ears, moderate length of neck into ample lay of shoulder and tight elbows, strong topline and loin, moderately angulated in the rear and standing on the best of feet, presented in good coat and moving out easily and with accuracy 2 and RBB Wheelers Ch Knytshall Thistle Ink It Up Koromandel JW medium size black who makes a balanced outline and is well angulated in front and shapely in the rear, attractive wedge head with dark eye and well set ears. Deep throu8gh the chest with tight elbows and a firm level topline, a light and easy mover who holds her shape, just lost out on coat condition today but a well deserved RBB 3 Strongs Ch Leggatts Dancing Queen at Draccus
