ENGLISH SPRINGER SPANIELS – WELKS 25/04/2026

I had been really looking forward to this appointment so a huge thank you to everyone who entered. How nice it is to judge a coated breed where presentation was exemplary in all exhibits. I was delighted at the quality of the dogs before me and its fair to say I could have done with more than 4 green cards! I have never been one to follow breeds I am due to award CC’s in as I like the element of surprise, so I was quite delighted to hear that my top winners were indeed top winners !

MPD (2) 1 and BPD, BPIB Macbain, Harrison and Bellamy’s Moontorn Drops of Jupiter With Fecimus, what an absolute delight this puppy was and he is a prime example that age is no barrier to quality ! compact in outline with ample length of leg for his age, this 6 month old l/w is so well put together, pleasing head with clean almond eye giving a kind but keen expression, he has a super front and lovely tight feet, body is developing well and he has an impressive topline on the stack with slightly rounded rump to low set tail. Whilst on the move he is rather loose all over as one would expect but his willingness to go forward coupled with good rear drive pleased me greatly. Delighted to see him shortlisted in a strong puppy group, I feel he must have a very bright future 2 Topliss Alhambians Kenny Everett At Beresford at almost 9 months this lad is strongly boned but not overdone and he stands on super rounded feet, he has a masculine head and lovely ears and is nicely angulated fore and aft with a compact outline, he needs to develop a little more in rib and forechest and today he was not as settled as the winner on the move.

PD (3) 1 Savells Petranella Strike It lucky 10 mth l/w with a compact body and balanced outline being well angulated in front and behind, neck is of good length and he stands on good legs and feet, he has ample forechest and spring of rib for his age, on the stack he shows a firm topline with slight rise over the loin but did tend to lose it occasionally on the move, 2 Stevens Bumblecorn Quest b/w dog in lovely coat, masculine head and super dark eye, a little too square in outline for my preference but standing on strong bone and compact round feet and covering the ground with good drive 3 Twilleys Dexbenella Take Your Time At Sansouci

JD (3) 1 Jenkinsons Eastriding Devotion, 16 mth b/w who stood away in this class for movement and construction, I found him to be very well proportioned all through and pleasing in head shape with slightly rounded skull and good depth of muzzle, nicely angulated fore and aft with enough fill in front and ample spring of rib for his age, firm topline and short loin, very together on the move showing plenty of drive 2 Watts Peasblossom Eros slightly heavier in head than the winner and I would have liked a fraction more length to his muzzle but he has a lovely dark eye and endearing soft expression, good length of neck into well placed shoulders but needs to firm a little in topline, he is moderately angulated in the rear with well let down hocks and went forward well once he settled 3 Field-Enticotts Favours Joy Ride To Baudelaire (imp Swe)

YD (3,1) 1 and RDCC Tolladays Chanangel Yorkshire Ale With Bethersden JW rising 2, there is nothing overdone about this l/w dog, he presents a balanced outline with everything where it should be, good head proportions and well chiselled under eyes that yield a kind expression, nicely arched neck and a good lay of shoulder, well filled in front with depth to chest, strong topline with slight rise over a short muscular loin and moderately angulated hindquarters, he covers the ground smoothly displaying good reach and drive 2 Jenkinsons Eastriding Royal Gold a well presented boy in good coat and furnishings, I liked his head shape and his soft expression and he has super ears, neck is of good length and slightly arched into well placed shoulders and he stands true in front with forelegs well under his body, topline is firm enough over a good spring of rib with depth to his chest and moderate hind angulation, not quite as tight in front movement as the winner today but he does stride out very well in profile.

PGD (3,1) Such’s Gleadsbury Whataboy At Mujascal JW this is a very fit and sound moving dog who was presented in good coat and featherings, head is masculine with slightly rounded skull, moderate stop and strong muzzle, ribs are well sprung and loin short and strong with broad muscular thighs and he moves out really well covering the ground with plenty of reach and drive 2 Wests Meonstoke Woodpecker At Grosbreuil this lad makes quite a pleasing outline was presented in a clean close fitting coat with good featherings, not as strong in the head as the winner but still indicating his sex, neck is set on well and he has a firm backline with ample depth of chest and well sprung ribs, a sound and easy mover and fairly well together on the away and back

LD (4) 1 Weymans More Than Amazing Wanna Be A Gangsta At Spuffing JW (imp Bel) a well presented strongly made tri dog with a compact and flowing outline, masculine head with broad slightly rounded skull and well shaped eyes, he stands true in front on well boned forelegs, flexible pasterns and rounded feet, he has an excellent spring of rib and broad muscular hindquarters with strong hocks and uses these to advantage, driving out well from behind 2 Topliss Beresford Stand N’ Stare JW quite an elegant looking dog but taking nothing away from his masculinity, he has a lovely head and dark almond eye and a super neck, his shoulders are well placed and elbows held close to body, chest is deep with well sprung ribs and he carries a strong topline, his movement in profile is super as he displays excellent reach and drives well from the hock, he pushed hard for the class but wasn’t quite as strong on the away as the winner, 3 Reynolds Clentonian Pitch Perfect

OD ( 5,1) 1 and DCC Topliss SH CH Sandylands Stand N Deliver an impressive top quality l/w dog with a certain presence about him, on the bigger side but he is beautifully balanced and so well proportioned. Solid and muscular under the hand with a handsome head and good chiselling under the eyes, strong muzzle and correct bite, neck is of good length and slightly arched into well laid shoulders and he stands true in front on straight forelegs and compact feet. I found his so well constructed all through with an excellent depth of chest and well developed forechest, and a good spring of rib along with a muscular rear and moderate bend of stifle. He is made to move well and he does, covering the ground freely with good rear drive with good tail carriage and maintaining his topline , 2 Rowlinsons Meltarose Midshipman 6yr d, slightly smaller than the winner but making a nice picture on the stack, he has a handsome well proportioned head and a soft kind expression coming from his dark almond eye, neck is clean and strong and he stands well in front on strong legs and slightly sloping pasterns, mature in body with well sprung ribs, strong topline and short muscular loin and moving out well with a good length of stride 3 Darlings SH CH Elazlan Billy Kimber

VB (4) 1 and BVIB Hydons Ir SH CH Clentonian Pandemonium JW SHCex OSW VW who would have thought this lovely b/w girl was 9 years old as she is in exceptional condition for her age, she has a beautiful head with lovely dark eyes and a kind intelligent expression, clean neck of ample length and stands true in front on straight forelegs and good feet, ribs are well sprung and topline firm leading to a strong loin and broad moderately angulated quarters, presented in lovely coat and featherings, she is so light on her feet yet demonstrates good driving action as she covers the ground 2 Williams and Toublic Cobhay Phancy Phlox, slightly longer cast than the winner and a fraction shorter in neck but with a pretty feminine head, she stands well in front on moderately boned forelegs with ample front angulation although I would have liked just a touch more length of leg, nice broad rear and strong hocks and moving out soundly 3 Reynolds Clentonian Perfect Picture

MPB (2) Calverts Clavdale Infinity, I found this 8 mth l/w to be quite well together for her age, she has an attractive head and eye which just needs to mature on and a good length of neck, well boned forelegs with the knuckle room to grow and nicely rounded feet, she stands true in front but on occasion with a slight slope to her topline which will no doubt improve as she matures. She is shapely in the rear and fairly strong in hock and she went forward with enthusiasm showing a good length of stride, I preferred her skull shape to that of 2 Keelys Alhambian Sally Traffic another pretty girl who makes a nice outline on the stack once she settled, I would have liked a slightly better skull shape but she has ample chiselling around the eye, a kind expression and long close fitting ears, she is compact enough in body and moderately angulated in the rear, currently rather loose all through but has plenty of time to tighten up.

PB (3) 1 Savells Petranella Strike A Pose a smart and shapely girl with feminine slightly domed head and dark eye, she has a good length of neck, well placed shoulders and enough depth of chest for her age, shapely hindquarters with a moderate bend of stifle and definition at the hock, to be hyper critical I would have liked a fraction more length of leg but she drives out really well covering the ground with reach and drive 2 Calverts Calvdale Lizzie Stark, a smart and confident 9 mth l/w with a very nice outline and who I found to be quite well developed for her age, she has a lovely head and long low set ears, eyes could be a fraction darker but they are well shaped, she is elegant through the neck which has a slight arch and her shoulders are nicely placed to create a good front assembly, topline is firm and loin short with sufficient strength, she too covers the ground easily but just a tad close behind 3 Wallis, Savell and Osbourne Petranella Strike It Rich

JB (1) 1 and RBCC Nicklin, Bellamy and Nicklins Siegers She’s A Classic For Wythnick (imp Dan) this gorgeous girl had me interested from the minute she came into the ring, super confident and so beautifully feminine with an attractive head and almond shaped eye. She has a lovely flow from her neck through to her topline and is compact in outline with ample bone and round feet, body is developing nicely with depth to chest and a good spring of rib, she is moderate in hind angulation with straight strong hocks and on the move she covers the ground soundly and easily with plenty of drive and a good length of stride. She still needs to finish but so much to love already and shown to perfection to get the best from her.

YB (7,2) 1 Harvard, Harvard and Corbett Annavah Ablaze, although I found this girl to be a fraction overangulated in the rear, in general she has a really nice shape to her, head is feminine and well proportioned with slightly rounded skull and moderate stop and she has a lovely arched neck and well laid shoulders, ribs are well developed and topline firm with short strong loin, she has a good width to her thighs and is clean and true in front with excellent rear drive and smooth flowing movement, lots to appreciate here 2 Calverts Elazlan Elle For Leather, an ultra feminine girl who is a fraction shorter in body than the winner but compact as the standard calls for rather than square and I could really appreciate her outline and type, I liked her head which has enough work and chiselling with a lovely eye emitting a kind expression, she is well constructed in front with strongly boned forelegs and neat round feet and her topline is firm with chest reaching down to close fitting elbows, unfortunately she wasn’t as settled as the winner on the move and was rather busy in her strides so didn’t display the reach and drive I was hoping to see which was a shame as I liked her a lot 3 Topliss Beresford Stand On Ceremony

PGB (7,1) 1 Nicklins Daenerys Girl On Fire At Dexbenella JW this girl makes a very nice profile although I felt she could develop just a little more in head but she has feminine features and a lovely dark eye, she has a good length of leg and is not overlong in body giving a pleasing and balanced outline. She has a super neck and well laid shoulders, ribs are well sprung extending back to a short strong loin and she is muscular and nicely angulated behind, I found her particularly strong in rear movement which helped her to win this good class 2 Weymans Spuffing Bellini JW l/w b who was presented in lovely coat and overall condition, she has a proportionate head with slightly rounded skull , flat cheeks and well shaped eye, neck is of good length but I would have liked just a little more angulation at the shoulder, she stands true in front on straight forelegs and flexible pasterns with an excellent depth of chest, well sprung ribs and is moderate in hind angulation, on the move she strides out easily and smoothly holding her topline. 3 Harrison and Macbains Daenerys Winter Solstice At Fecimus

LB (6,2) 1 Corbetts Siegers See Eye To Eye With Trimere (imp Dnk) Interssting to see this girl is from the same kennels as my RBCC, clearly they know how to produce quality ! this is a very attractive and feminine girl with a beautiful head and expression, she has a slightly arched neck into well laid shoulders and stands true in front on good feet and flexible pasterns with forelegs placed well under body, chest is deep and ribs are well sprung under a strong topline and firm loin, she is such a smooth and easy mover with super profile action and accurate all ways 2 Weymans Spuffing Prosecco this l/w b presents a pleasing outline with good angulation front and rear, I liked her well proportioned head and soft kind expression, she has a clean slightly arched neck and is well developed in front with plenty of forechest and a good depth of chest with firmness to her topline and a strong loin, her hindquarters are muscular and well developed with short strong hocks producing a sound and driving gait 3 Tolladays Calvdale Half A Story Bethersden

OB (5) This was a super class with quality right down the line 1 and BCC BOB Corbetts Trimere Time Flys, what a gorgeous and feminine girl this is and for me she has a text book outline that flows from the top of her beautiful head to the tip of her tail and her well shaped eye exudes a kind and gentle expression which gives immediate appeal. Her neck is just the right length and continues cleanly into a strong firm topline with good shoulders and a well developed front, she is shapely in the rear with definition at the hock and on the moved she carries herself with a touch of elegance whilst covering the ground with plenty of reach and drive , the ultimate showgirl who ticked all the boxes for me today. 2 Keelys Khaleesi De Les Tres Llacunes With Alhambian (imp esp) completely different to the winner but still a well made b with an admirable compact outline, quite strong in head yet with feminine traits and well proportioned with a medium length of skull and good flews, body has good depth with well sprung ribs and a strong firm topline. I liked the breadth in her rear which was strong and muscular and in profile she goes forward easily with good reach and drive, however I felt she could still strengthen up a little in hock 3 Chandlers SH CH Elazlan Coronation Day
