Miniature Smooth-Haired Dachshunds

I would like to thank the committee at Driffield for my judging invitation and also thank my very capable steward Melvyn, who, not only managed by himself but coped with an administration dilemma admirably. This was my first time giving CC’s in this variety of Dachshund. Some classes posed some difficulty with placings, as there were a lot of good exhibits and I would like to thank everyone who entered and accepted my placings with good grace. I was very pleased with my line up for the dog and bitch CC. 

SBG. (3.1) 1st. Downie’s Marvale Kingfisher. Mature 4 yr old red with lovely front construction. Balanced head, eye slightly round. Correct dentition. Lovely prosternum, good length of keel and ribbing. Strong loin. Nice rear. Sound and quite a balanced movement. 2nd. Richardson’s Teckeltown Etlon John. 3yr old shaded red dog who couldn’t quite match my 1st place. Balanced head, Good length of neck and nicely placed shoulder. Would prefer more length to upper arm. Reasonable length of ribbing. 

MPD (3.0) 1ST Tite’s Rayol Gingerfella By Rijabeau. At 7months this red boy has correct proportions. Masculine head, Good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Ribbing coming along. Rear construction to match front which meant that he strode out with good reach and drive, and quite balanced for one so young. 2nd Mason’s Teckeltown Formula One. Black and Tan youngster and another good exhibit. Preferred his head to my 1st, and he has solid construction throughout. Movement not quite together yet. Nice feet. 

P.D. (4.1) Ergis’ Siouxline Trojan. 10 month old red brindle youngster who is very nicely put together. Balanced head. Good length to neck into correct front construction and rear construction, good length to keel and ribbing. Moved out effortlessly with good reach and drive. Pleased to award BPD & BPIB. 2nd Jennings’ Jenivons The Story Lives On. 11 month shaded red who has a lovely masculine balanced head and good length of neck into well laid shoulder. Generally pleasing to go over and moved out well but slightly less reach and drive than my 1st. 

P.G.D.(3.0) 1st Parr’s Stargang Rusty Nail . I admired the head and eye of this 2 yr old shaded red of nicely balanced proportions. Good conformation throughout, especially his front. Strode out with good reach and drive. 2nd. Richardson’s Teckeltown Etlon John – see 1st. SBD

L.D.(8.0) 1st Bullis’ Amaffrey Sirius Black. At nearly 2 years this black and tan strode out with such lovely balanced movement. He has a Masculine head with dark eye into good length of neck. Sound front construction from good shoulder placement and return of upper arm. Good length to ribbing and keel. Rear angulation matching his front. Pleased to award the RCC. 2nd. Forge’s Normpug Roman Holiday JW. This black and tan 3 year old has matured nicely since I last judged him as a puppy. Similar to 1st and soundly constructed throughout, nothing exaggerated with good angulations and proportions leading to good reach and drive from his movement.  

O.D. (8.0) This was a super class and made for difficult decisions. 1st. Mason’s CH Teckeltown Suspicious Mind. Beautifully balanced black and tan 3 year old who moved superbly with excellent reach and drive. Very elegant hound with a lovely masculine head, good length to neck and correct front and rear construction. Good length to ribbing and firm loin. Pleased to award DCC & BOB. 2nd Tite’s CH Rijobeau Well I Never. Another sound mover and nicely proportioned black and tan 2 year old. He has a good head, nice length of neck into solid front construction, with good shoulder placement, good length to ribbing and keel, short loin and good rear construction. Moved out with reach and drive.   

S.B.B. (2.0). 1st Cato’s Lokmadi Lindy Hop Of Earldax. Shaded red 1 year old who has a balanced conformation. Good length of ribbing and keel. Would prefer a little more angulation throughout but she moved out well. 2nd Goodall’s Teckeltown Roses Are Red. At just 6 months this red girl is a little raw and needs to mature. Nice head and dark eye, good dentition. Not quite the front construction of my first. Would prefer more rear angulation, and all may improve in time. 

V.B. (1.0) Forge’s Normpug Tiger Eyes. Nicely proportioned 7 year old black and tan. Quite well covered, moved out well and enjoyed her time in the ring. Would prefer slightly more balance to her head, good length of neck into sound front construction. Good length to ribbing and keel. Pleased to award BVIB. 

M.P.B. (4.2) Mason’s Teckeltown Crazy In Love. Promising 6 month back and tan baby. I liked her head, good length of neck. Nice shoulder placement. Good length to ribbing and keel. Moved out well for her age. 2nd Goodall’s Teckeltown Roses Are Red. See 2nd SBB. 

P.B. (5.2) Parr’s Stargang Rumba At Parcroft. Red 9 month old elegant youngster. Slightly nervous but overlooked in a puppy as she is very balanced in her construction and movement. Good angulation throughout and should mature nicely. Moved with reach and drive. 2nd Bullis’ Amaffrey Rita Skeeter. Shaded red 11 month who was definitely on a high today. She went round like a train. Lovely size and nicely put together. 

J.B. (4.0) 1ST. Hutchings’ Teckeltown Kelby Springs into Collidach JW. This 15 month Shaded red caught my eye. Correct proportions and well-constructed throughout. Balanced head into good length of neck, well placed shoulders and return of upper arm, good length to ribbing and keel, short loin and excellent rear. Pleased to award RCC. 2nd. Bain’s Jenivon Jewel At Wenichones. Black and Tan of 16 months who is another good exhibit and it was a close call between 1st and 2nd. Lovely head and good length to neck, into good front construction.Ribbing and keel of good length and rear angulation matching front, leading to good reach and drive. 

P.G.B. (9.7) 1st. Forge’s Normpug Apricot Beauty. Mature shaded red 4 year old, who I have judged before. Well-proportioned with sound construction throughout. Good length to neck into well laid shoulders. Good length to ribbing and keel. Balanced angulation to front and rear. Moved out well. 2nd. Bullis’ Amaffrey Luna Lovgood. Shaded red of nearly 2 years old, she could easily have been 1st on another day. Lovely head and neck into good front and rear construction. Moved out with reach and drive. 

L.B. (11.0) 1st. Wilkinson & Wakeman’s Wakywilks Vitoria. A shaded red who at 19 months is well constructed throughout. Balanced head, Good width in front, proportions correct. Nice length to neck. Good front and rear angulation, moved with reach and drive. 2nd Mason’s Teckeltown’s Power of Love. Black and Tan 15 month youngster and another good exhibit and a close call between 1st and 2nd. Lovely head, good front construction, and length to keel and ribbing. Short loin, matching rear angulation, moved out well with reach and drive. 

O.B. (6.0) 1st. Mason’s CH Marvale Crimson Sunbird At Teckeltown. Lovely 3 year old red who moved so well today. So balanced in her movement from excellent construction throughout. I liked her head, good ear set and eye, dentition correct. Good length of neck into excellent front construction. Shoulders correctly positioned with a good return of upper arm, good length of keel and ribbing, short loin and excellent rear angulation. Please to award the BCC. 2nd Blackburn-Bennett’s CH Stargang Scandalous. Another lovely mover. Shaded red 4 year old who strode out with reach and drive. Lovely head and eye, good length of neck, well placed shoulders and good return of upper arm, nice length of ribbing and keel, good rear angulation to match the front.
