British Boxer Club

Breed: Boxer

Show: British Boxer Club 2nd August 2026

Judge: Ann Ingram

Judging the 90th Anniversary Show of the British Boxer Club was very special to me as it was my 50th year to award CCs, this being my 22nd time. The Ingram family has had a very close association with the British Boxer Club with my mother being present when the original breed standard was written and judging the 50th Anniversary Show. It seemed that there would be no better occasion for me to make it my last UK appointment to award CCs in the breed.

To say I enjoyed every minute of the day would be an understatement! It was a great privilege to judge such top quality dogs, added to that there was a wonderful atmosphere around the ring, with winners congratulated and applause for every class. It was also good to see some of our more senior Boxer people sat ringside enjoying their day.

The club certainly laid the rings out well and there so many special prizes for everyone, and lots of Prosecco on offer to all comers.

I found it so encouraging to have such quality in the babies and puppies which bodes well for the future . It was also noticeable that there were several top quality reds in the ring, which was refreshing, after so many years where the brindles dominated.

Whilst the standard is slightly vague about the correct tail carriage “ set on high and carried gaily’ “ in overall balance with the rest of the dog”, I do feel that, a too high tailset (terrier tail) combined with a tightly curled tail, almost squirrel tail in extreme cases, is creeping into the breed and is really not to be encouraged as it spoils the overall balance of the dog. Whilst I would not necessarily

Breed: Boxers

Baby Puppy Dog (. 5)( 1 )

What a delightful class to begin the day and encouraging to see such quality babies in both males and females.

1.Fay-Smith - Lorossa Uptown Funk

Very promising red/white with delightful temperament. Lovely head and expression, long arched neck, lovely round bone and tight cat feet. Short back, well laid shoulders, moved well keeping his great outline. I really loved this baby! Best Baby Puppy.

2.Law- Shellark Noble Ziggy

Lovely square brindle with well padded muzzle, correct lip place and dark expressive eyes, short back, well angulated hindquarters which he uses well on the move. I would just prefer a less tightly curled tail.

3.Payne - Secrest Voltaire at Birleyvale

Baby Puppy Bitch ( 4)( 1)

1.Fay-Smith - Larossa Treasure

Sister to the male winner and again lovely type. Feminine red/white with lovely outline, well padded muzzle correct chin, and dark expressive eyes. Short back, just needs time to come up on her feet and pasterns a little more, to complete the picture.

2.Murfin & Cobbledick - Farvalley Min Mix

Another very feminine baby with a very promising head which needs time to break a little more and develop. Dark mischievous eyes, good neck and shoulders, short back, carried herself so well on the move, with lovely attitude.

3.Mair Glenauld Priscilla

Minor Puppy Dog (.1 )( )

1.Pynegar - Berwynfa Pole Position

Well grown male in super condition with strong, round bone & tight, cat feet. Well balanced head with correct chin, broad underjaw, well padded muzzle & correct rise of skull. Long arched neck, good ribcage & lovely topline. He just needs time to mature in hindquarters which makes him a little erratic in rear movement. He is very positive on the move with super carriage & attitude. Would prefer a slightly less tightly curled tail.

Puppy Dog (4 )( )

Not quite as mature as winner. He has a lovely outline with short back and correct sloping topline.
