EASTERN COUNTIES DACHSHUND ASSOCIATION

CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW – 1 NOVEMBER 2026

DACHSHUND (MINIATURE LONG-HAIRED)

I would like to thank the Eastern Counties Dachshund Association for the invitation to judge at their Championship Show, and the exhibitors for bringing such a lovely entry. It was a pleasure to go over the dogs and bitches, and I thoroughly enjoyed my day. Thank you also to the steward for his help and efficiency.

Elbows, although improved since my last appointment, still remain an area requiring attention, along with ribbing. Overall muscle tone and condition were pleasing.

Baby Puppy Dog/Bitch

1st – PARTRIDGE Minard Maze of Memories for Riveroyal

A very promising baby with much to like. Presented a pleasing overall picture, with attractive breed character and a lovely, alert expression. Good proportions for one so young, with plenty of promise in body and outline. A pleasing start to a show career.

An impressive dog who stood out for his overall quality. Well balanced, with a pleasing length of body, strong construction and a good, firm outline. Attractive head and expression, with perfect pigmentation. Well schooled, well muscled and using his hind movement to freely and positively power around the ring. He maintained his shape both coming and going. Presented to perfection, he really did take me by surprise. A worthy Dog CC winner.

2nd – DRADY Ch Indiko Fire And Ice JW

A quality champion with much to admire, and I have admired him ringside since he was a Minor Puppy. Good breed character and a lovely head. Good body proportions and an attractive outline. Lovely neck leading into a good front, well-placed elbows and pleasing ribbing. Presented in excellent condition. I just preferred the overall movement of the winner on the day. Another highly considered for the top awards and, no doubt, will go on to achieve many more wins.

3rd: MCSORLEY Barlaine Midnight Charmer

Veteran Dog

1st – WOODVINE-SHONE Ch Hanishan Fire Cracker

A lovely veteran who was a pleasure to judge. I have awarded this boy a CC before. Clearly retaining his breed type and quality, with a pleasing head and expression and a good overall outline. Showed himself with confidence and enthusiasm, moving well and thoroughly enjoying his day out. A credit to his owner and breeder. Delighted to award him the RCC and Best Veteran. One to watch and learn from.

Both girls were ones I would happily have taken home.

1st – POOLE & FAIRCHILD Restinim Miss Heversham

A particularly promising young bitch who immediately appealed for her overall type and balance. Lovely feminine head and expression, with good proportions and a pleasing outline. Developing nicely for her age, with good character and a confident attitude. Moved happily and showed herself to advantage. A very exciting prospect. Best Puppy Bitch and Best Puppy in Breed.

2nd – HOLTOM Rivandell Jenny Wren

A very nice puppy with plenty to like. Feminine and attractive, with a pleasing head and expression. Good overall proportions and a nice outline. Showed a happy temperament and moved well for her age. Still has some developing to do, but a promising youngster.

1st – HOLTOM Rivandell Jenny Wren

2nd – FAIRCHILD & POOLE Restinim Miss Peggitty

A very attractive junior with much to admire. Good feminine type, with an appealing head and expression. Pleasing body proportions, with a good outline and sufficient ground clearance. Her shoulders are her selling point. Showed herself confidently and moved well, maintaining her shape throughout. A lovely young bitch with a bright future.

Wow! She loved her day out. It was her ring, and I had to agree with her! Attractive head and expression. Pleasing shoulders and ribbing. Good length and balance, with a confident temperament. Moved well and presented a lovely overall picture.

2nd – FAIRCHILD & POOLE Findowrie Field of Dreams and Restinim

A quality exhibit with plenty to admire. One I would describe as an old-school Miniature Longhair. Pleasing eye, with an attractive head and a good overall shape. Good front and rear angulation. Well presented and moved steadily, but I felt she was unhappy with the floor today.

Open Bitch

1st – WAY Ralines Ways and Means JW

An outstanding bitch who immediately caught my attention. At first, I wondered whether it was her colour that made her stand out, but it was not. She is of excellent breed type, with a lovely feminine head, intelligent expression and a beautifully balanced outline. Good length of body, strong construction and a pleasing topline, with fantastic muscle tone. Moved freely and effortlessly, retaining her shape throughout. She has an air of arrogance about her, and she is very much entitled to it! Presented in excellent condition, with lovely ring presence. A very deserving Bitch CC and Best of Breed .

2nd – GRAHAM Ch Ralines Coalition with Jadag

A quality champion with much to admire. Sister to the winner, and you can see in her construction that they share the same qualities. Well proportioned, with a pleasing outline and good body length. Presented in excellent condition and moved well, but was not quite as happy as the winner with the floor today. A worthy second to a particularly outstanding winner. Considered for the RCC.

3rd: MCSORLEY Barlaine Golden Honey

Veteran Bitch

1st – HOLTOM Ralines Cameo at Rivandell

A lovely veteran bitch who clearly retains her breed qualities. Feminine and attractive, with a pleasing head and expression. Good overall proportions and a nice outline for her age. Showed herself with confidence. A pleasure to judge and a credit to her owner.
