LEEDS CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW - 26th JULY 2026 - POMERANIANS:

I would like to thank both my stewards; Tony and Andrea. We had a busy day with two breeds with CC's to get done, and we finished them in good time.

This was my 6th time awarding CC's in the breed and I think one of the strongest in terms of quality particularly with the males.

It was an extremely windy day and I must congratulate the dogs for coping exceptionally well. The noise from the tents and ring tape could easily have upset many. In fact the Poms coped so much better with the weather conditions compared to the Shar Pei which I judged straight afterwards.

Just a few things to watch out for, I found more than a few with curly tails. The standard is very clear about tails and its a breed characteristic, try and aim for straight and flat.

We had a few overzealous young handlers getting into a kerfuffle trying to get their exhibits to be perfectly standing. Pomeranians are not little robots, we don't need them to be standing perfectly every time, yes its nice for them to be standing nice on the final look around but don't get into a state if your dog moves an inch out of place.

SBD/B (9 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: 6210 WATSON, Miss Jess Vibrek You Are My Sunshine - A nice class to start the day with. 1st; 3 year old male shown in pristine coat and condition. I loved his typey silhouette, stands a picture giving his young handler his full attention. His head was definitely foxy in outline, dark sparkling eyes, correct length of muzzle. Short neck and back. He has a high set tail that he carried it flat over his back. Excellent coat texture. Moved with style. Well handled.

2nd: 6152 BROWN, Miss Yasmin Fable The Small Step At Yanimas (imp Kos) - 9 months male. Another with a lovely outline; compact and ball shaped. Quite a handsome head, small neat ears, dark eyes although they are perhaps a smidgen small, nice finish of muzzle. He is short backed with an excellent tail set and carriage. Beautiful coat and presented to a high standard. Moved true in both directions.

3rd: 6199 PHILLIPS, Miss Ellenor Klassna Gotta Have A Star

1st: 6201 PIKE & CARTER, Mrs & Mrs Julie & Ashlie Breezelyn Fluff N Stuff NAF - 7 months. Sound as a pound on the move, so accurate for one so young. Attractive head, slight oval eyes that were dark but sparkled, good length of fore face, small well set ears and topped off by super pigment. He has a shortish neck, level back with a high set tail which he carried well at all times. His coat was obviously still at the puppy stage but coming in correctly. He was in tip top condition and showed like a little trooper. Expertly handled and very well schooled.

2nd: 6163 DAVEY, Mrs Nataliya Klassna Macho Is Back - 7 months. Quite similar in size and shape as the class winner. He is short coupled in stature and stands four square admiring his handler. His skull is the correct shape, his ears are tiny and well set. His eyes are a good size and very dark. He is perhaps a tiny bit too short in muzzle for ideal? Excellent pigment. He has good ribs and his chest is quite deep. Sound front and rear. Coat is a little wooly at this stage but that should sort itself out as he matures. Lovely happy temperament.

He is so sound on the move, he moves lightly and stylishly around the ring maintaining his fabulous shape. His outer coat was harsh and perfectly straight, and presented to perfection. He was very well schooled and never put a foot wrong. He looked an absolute picture standing four square and not taking his eyes of his handler. I was delighted to award him the DCC & BoB.
